Detergents and cleaning agents with poor foaming are known which contain non-ionic washing active substances of the polyglycol ether type as washing active substances. the foam-suppressing properties of these compounds are sufficient however, in many cases it is not enough to prevent the development of such foam Means, the high-foaming surfactants of the sulfate or sulfonate type contain sufficient steaming, which is why it is suggested " was, fatty acids with more than 18 carbon atoms than foam add dampening agent. The effect of these fatty acids however, it is limited to sulfonate type surfactants and also depends on the hardness of the cleaning solution used used water. As anti-foam devices The most widely used silicones are for detergents and cleaning agents less suitable, as they can make the cleaned objects water-repellent and are difficult to achieve can be removed from the substrate again.
Even when using surfactant-free, complexing agents Containing polymer phosphates or organic complexing agents Softeners for removing incrustations from textiles and washing machines, supply lines and If water heaters are used, considerable malfunctions can occur due to the development of foam. As a cause ' deposited organic impurities, such as protein or fatty substances, lime soap residues or traces of active washing substances.

The hydrocarbon radicals R- ,, R 2 and R- can be straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated and preferably contain 12 to 24 carbon atoms. Examples of suitable radicals are lauryl, myristyl, palmityl, stearyl, arachyl, behenyl, lignoeeryl, palmitoleyl and oleyl radicals, and also those which differ from the hydrocarbon radicals occurring in natural fats, such as coconut, tallow , Rapeseed oil, palm kernel, soybean oil, cottonseed oil, peanut oil or olive oil fatty acids or their hydrogenation products. Hydrocarbon radicals obtainable from paraffin hydrocarbons or synthetically, for example by ethylene or propylene polymerization or oxo synthesis, are also suitable. The isocyanurates can be prepared in any desired way, for example by reacting alkali metal cyanates with halogenated hydrocarbons or alkyl sulfates.
It has been shown that Trialky! Isocyanurates, in which the alkyl radicals have 10 to 14 carbon atoms, their optimal effect in the temperature range of 20 ° to 60 ° C. Isocyanurates with long-chain alkyl groups, for example those with 18 to 22 carbon atoms, are particularly effective in the range from 60 ° to 100 ° C. A suitable selection or combination of different isocyanurates can therefore reduce the foam behavior of the detergents. and cleaning agents can be controlled as required and adapted to the respective conditions.

The amounts of foam inhibitors to be used depend on the amount of foaming or detergent substance as well as the size of the desired effect. The for the Application concentrations which are important in practice range from 0.1 to 10, preferably 0.2 to 5 percent by weight, based on weight on plague substance. It is of course possible with even larger amounts, for example up to 25 percent by weight and to work more, but in practice this is not necessary.
The foam suppressants can be mixed with the other detergents, cleaning agents and encrusting agents in the usual way mixed and processed together with them, e.g. spray-dried or granulated or according to other known processes be converted into solid, liquid or pasty mixtures.
