Als Schraubenmutter dient die Konsole des Spiegels. Unterhalb der Konsole - z. B. unter dem Deckel des Kofferraumes - wird die Spindel durch einen als Schneckenrad ausgeführten Ring bewegt, der mit Paßfeder oder Wurmschraube in die Längsnute der Spindel eingreift und diese nach beiden Richtungen drehen kann.
