Die bekannte Eigenschaft des Acetylentetrachlorids y während der Aufbewahrung, zumal bei Zutritt von Licht und Feuchtigkeit, Chlorwasserstoff abzuspalten, beschränkte die Verwendbarkeit dieser Flüssigkeit als Lösungsmittel für Harze, Lacke und andere organische Produkte in hohem Maße, da in sehr vielen Fällen, wie z. B. bei der Lackfabrikation, ein Chlorwasserstoffgehalt schäd-Hch wirkt. Die sich hieraus ergebenden Ubelstände lassen sich durch Verwendung eines kurz vor der Benutzung mittels Alkalien entsäuerten Acetylentetrachlorids nicht beseitigen, denn auch in den fertigen Lösungen scheidet das Lösungsmittel Chlorwasserstoff ab, was zu unerwünschten Nebenerscheinungen Veranlassung gibt.The well-known property of acetylene tetrachloride y during storage, especially when exposed to light and moisture, to split off hydrogen chloride, limited the use of this liquid as a solvent for resins, paints and other organic products to a great extent, since in many cases, such as. Das Entstehen von freiem Chlorwasserstoff im Acetylentetrachlorid wird gemäß vorliegender Erfindung dadurch verhindert, daß man Körper zusetzt, welche Chlorwasserstoff aufzunehmen imstande sind, und zwar organische Verbindungen, welche zwischen benachbarten Kohlenstoffatomen mindestens eine mehrfache Bindung besitzen und hierdurch zu Additionsreaktionen befähigt sind. Von diesen ist besonders das Terpentinöl bezw. das darin enthaltene Pinen vorteilhaft geeignet. Es zeichnet sich auch dadurch aus, daß die Chlorwasserstoffverbindungen etwa in gleichem Maße flüchtig sind wie Acetylentetrachlorid, was bei der Verwendung zum Umkristallisieren organischer Substanzen von Wichtigkeit ist.
