Description
Process for the production of anti-rust paints. Sulfur-containing rust inhibitors have been known for a long time and are widely used because of their rust-preventing properties. So z. B. according to patent specification 299904 a fatty oil mixed with resin, heated with sulfur, also allowed chlorine sulfur to act on Fettgasteer according to patent specification 122688. All of these processes start from the assumption that the action of sulfur or chlorosulfur, fats, oils, tar-like products, etc., results in molecular condensation with the escape of hydrogen sulfide. In this process, the sulfur is partially reduced to hydrogen sulfide, while a small percentage remains chemically bound.
The present invention is now, sulfur in chemical easily reacting form to act on the iron to be protected etc. in such a way, that a layer of iron sulphide and organic sulphides is formed, which is largely resistant to chemical influences. Served as a sulfur transmitter the present process of the aniline holysulfide or its homologues, which Contains sulfur in an easily split off form (see K. A. Hofmann, Report of the Germans Chemischen -Gesellschaft 27, p. 2807) and the easiest way by heating aniline with an excess amount of sulfur in relation to thioaniline formation will. If you bring this in a suitable way with artificial or natural asphalt with or without the addition of resin, drying oils, etc. together, so connects when the solutions are gently heated or left to stand for a long time, some of the sulfur is added the asphalt, while the rest of the sulfur, which is in reactive form the aniline is bound, when it is spread it combines with the iron to form sulfuric iron and this is protected from the organic sulfides.
Example: 100 g of petroleum pitch are dissolved in 150 g of benzene or gasoline and added 10 g of polytio-aniline to the solution. -After about eight days of standing in In a closed container, the mixture, which thickens a little, is spreadable.
