Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
According to the process of the main patent, sulfurizing the 2 · 2j-diamido-4 · 4j-oxaltoluids at 170 to 200 0 gives a yellow sulfur dye which has the valuable property of dyeing unheated cotton in a sodium sulphide solution in clear, yellow shades with excellent fastness properties . It has now been shown that a dye of greater alkali fastness, but otherwise of exactly the same properties, is obtained if the diamidooxal toluid is fused with m-toluenediamine at 150 to 200 ° that on each CO group of the former a molecule is of the latter and then the resulting base melt instead of 2 • 2 1 J -Diamido ~ 4 · 4y-oxaltoluids in the described manner by the main patent a melt with sulfur at temperatures above 170 0 subjects.
Example: 20 kg of the melt obtained from one molecule of 2 · 2 1 -diamido-4 · 4j-oxaltoluide and two molecules of m-toluenediamine are fused with 60 kg of sulfur with constant stirring. As soon as the evolution of sulfur and hydrogen begins to decrease, the temperature is brought to 170 0 ; the heating of the melt is continued for 6 to 8 hours, during which time the temperature of the melt is slowly increased from 170 to 200 °. The sulfur dye thus obtained forms a red-brown powder in the pulverized state, which bezw in boiling solutions of alkalis. Alkaline sulfur completely dissolves. The dye is insoluble in concentrated sulfuric acid.
