Durch Behandeln von Benzylsulfosäure mit Salpeterschwefelsäure in der Wärme erhält man die von Mohr (Annalen 221, 225) beschriebene Dinitrobenzylsulfosäure.By treating benzylsulfonic acid with nitric sulfuric acid in heat, one obtains the dinitrobenzyl sulfonic acid described by Mohr (Annalen 221, 225).
Es hat sich nun gezeigt, dafs dieses Product durch Erhitzen mit Schwefel und Schwefelalkali bezw. Wasser trägt man bei 60 bis 80 ° allmählich unter Rühren 1 Th. dinitrobenzylsulfosaures Natrium ein, erhitzt dann auf 150 bis 2000 bis zum Dickwerden der Schmelze, steigert die Temperatur bis 240 bis 2500 und hält hierbei so lange, bis die Masse völlig trocken geworden ist. Das so erhaltene Reactionsproduct stellt' eine schwärzliche, brüchige Masse dar, welche sich in Wasser mit gelblich brauner Farbe auflöst; der Farbstoff läfst sich aus dieser Lösung durch Kochsalz oder Säuren ausfällen. Concentrirte Schwefelsäure nimmt ihn mit brauner Farbe auf. Die mit dem Farbstoff erzielten Färbungen lassen sich den üblichen Nachbehandlungsmethoden unterwerfen, doch finden hierbei keine wesentlichen Aenderungen, weder in Bezug auf Nuance noch hinsichtlich der Echtheitseigenschaften, statt. Der Farbstoff besitzt aufserdem die bemerkenswerthe Eigenschaft, sich auf der Faser diazotiren zu lassen und dann mit Phenolen und Aminen zu kuppeln.(Kryst.) In a solution of 1 Th. Sulfur, 3 parts.
