Description

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf einen zusammendrückbaren Behälter mit einem verformbaren Rohr-. körper, der an einem Ende ein im wesentlichen aus Kunststoff bestehendes Kopfteil trägt und aus einem Schichtmaterial besteht, welches eine aus Metall bestehende Schicht aufweist, die wenigstens an ihrer dem Behälterinnern zugekehrten Oberfläche mit einer oder mehreren Kunststoffschichten versehen ist, wobei Wenigstens die unmittelbar auf die Metalloberfläche aufgebrachte Schicht aus einem thermoplastischen Polymeren besteht.
Zusammendrückbare Behälter mit einem verformbaren Rohrkörper, insbesondere Tuben, sind aus der französischen Patentschrift 827 657 bekannt, und zwar werden nach dieser Satentschrift Metalltuben durch ein Füll- oder Tauchverfahren Jnnen mit Polyvinylacetal ausgekleidet, um ihre chemische Resistenz zu verbessern. Dieses Verfahren erscheint für eine billige Massenproduktion wegen der individuell vorzuformenden Behälter, die dann weiterbehandelt werden müssen, wenig geeignet. Ferner wird zwischen Metallfolie und Polyvinylacetal, das sich lediglich auf Grund seiner Schmiegsamkeit an die Metallwand anlegen soll, was als ausreichend angesehen wird, keine sonderliche Haftung erreicht, was sich jedoch auf das Verhalten solcher Tuben bei Gebrauch und insbesondere bezüglich der Knickanfälligkeit ungünstig auswirkt.
Ein weiterer Mehrschichtbehälter ist aus dem deutschen Gebrauchsmuster 1 781 765 bekannt, der aus kunststoffbeschichteter Metallfolie besteht, wobei der Rohrkörper durch Wickeln und Verschweißen der kaschierten Folie gebildet wird. Als Kunststoffe werden hier insbesondere Polyäthylen oder Polyvinylchlorid genannt. Diese ergeben jedoch, wie die Erfinderin gefunden hat, nicht ohne weiteres eine brauchbare Haftune auf Metallen und wurden.
wenn eine solche angestrebt würde, zusätzliche Maßnahmen, wie eine Oberflächenbehandlung (beim Polyäthylen), und die Verwendung von Klebern erfordern.
Ziel der Erfindung ist daher ein zusammendrückbarer Mehrschichtbehälter mit einer zumindest nach innen zu kunststoffbeschichteten Metallschicht, der einfach herstellbar ist und eine verbesserte Knickbruchfestigkeit, insbesondere durch eine verbesserte Haftung des Kunststoffs am Metall, die ohne Kleber oder Oberflächenbehandlung erreicht werden kann, aufweist, wobei das Kunststoffmaterial insbesondere auch gut mit sich selbst verschweißbar, auf einfache Weise (für die Herstellung des Tubenkopfes aus dem gleichen Material) formbar und chemisch möglichst inert sein soll.
Dieses Ziel wird gemäß der Erfindung dadurch erreicht, daß das die Kunststoffbeschichtung bildende Polymere ein Mischpolymeres aus Äthylen und einer, äthylenisch ungesättigten Monocarbonsäure, wie Acryl- oder Alkacrylsäure, ist mit einem auf das Gesamtgewicht des Mischpolymeren bezogenen Carbonsäuregehalt von 0,5 bis 20°/o und einem Schmelzindex von 1 bis 50.
Vorzugsweise besitzt das Mischpolymere einen Acrylsäuregehalt von etwa 3 °/o und einen Schmelzindex von etwa 8.
Mischpolymeren zur Beschichtung von Behältern sind zwar bereits aus der britischen Patentschrift 864 528 bekannt, nach der Polyäthylenbehälter zur Verringerung der Durchlässigkeit (außen oder innen) mit Vinylidenchlorid-Acrylnitril-Copolymeren beschichtet werden. Dieser Patentschrift ist jedoch nichts über spezielle Probleme bei Tuben mit Metallschichten (die im vorliegenden Fall die Funktion einer Durchlässigkeitssperre übernehmen und nur dünn zu sein brauchen) zu entnehmen und ebensowenig ein Hinweis auf irgendeine Haftverbesserung zwischen Kunststoff und Metall der Tubenwand.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Behälter besitzen ausgezeichnete mechanische Eigenschaften und sind bequem herstellbar. Sie sind für leicht flüchtige Komponenten der zu verpackenden Produkte, wie etwa ätherische Öle u. dgl., undurchlässig und ebenso für die Außenluft, so daß eine Veränderung der Produkte bei längerer Lagerung nicht zu befürchten ist. Die innere Schicht löst sich selbst bei verpackten Produkten mit hohen Säuregraden, wie z. B. fluoridhaltigen Zahnpasten, nicht ab, und es hat sich in der Praxis gezeigt, daß die üblicherweise z. B. bei einem Dreilagenschichtkörper aus einer Zwischenschicht aus Aluminiumfolie mit anliegenden Flächen aus üblichem Polyäthylen von niedriger oder hoher Dichte auftretende Schichtablösung an den Kunststoff-Folienzwischenflächen, wenn er einer Zahnpasta, die Stannofluorid enthält, unter normalen Lebensdauerbedingungen, d. h. etwa 1 Jahr bei 38° C, ausgesetzt wird, erfindungsgemäß vermieden wird.
Versuche zur Lösung des Problems bei den bekannten Behältern etwa durch Zugabe von Klebstoffen während des Schicht- oder Walzvorganges haben sich dagegen bisher als nicht wirtschaftlich erwiesen, und andere Veränderungen beim Walzvorgang, wie Vorheizen der Folie, haben ebenfalls nicht zu dem gewünschten Ergebnis geführt.
Nachfolgend wird der Behälter an Hand eines Ausführungsbeispiels beschrieben.
Dieses umfaßt einen zusammendrückbaren rohrförmigen Körper, der an einem Ende durch Heißabdichtung oder ein anderes technisches Verfahren abgeschlossen ist. Der rohrförmige Körper trägt an seinem gegenüberliegenden Ende ein Kunststoffkopfstück mit Halsteil und Brustabschnitt, welch letzterer mit dem Rohrkörper verschmolzen ist.
Der rohrförmige Körper nach dem gewählten Ausführungsbeispiel umfaßt drei Schichten, die miteinander verwalzt oder auf andere Weise verbunden sind, wenn auch besondere Anwendungen eine Verminderung der Schichtzahlen auf zwei zulassen können, während andere Anwendungsfälle es notwendig machen können, vier oder mehr Schichten in dem Schichtkörper zu verwenden. Bei der gewählten Ausführungsform umfaßt der zusammendrückbare Körper eine Außenschicht, die möglichst durch ein thermoplastisches Material, wie Polyolefin, gebildet sein soll, wenn auch Papier in bestimmten Fällen zur Anwendung kommen kann. Vorzugsweise ist jedoch das äußere Schutzmedium ein Polyolefin, beispielsweise Polyäthylen. Zu erwähnen ist jedoch, daß die äußere Schicht die gleiche Zusammensetzung wie die Innenschicht haben kann, die auf die gegenüberliegende Fläche der Zwischenschicht aufgewalzt ist.
Die Zwischenschicht, die die Schutzhülle gegen Sauerstoffabsorption aus der Atmosphäre und den Durchtritt ätherischen Öls nach auswärts durch den .Rohrkörper hindurch bildet, ist eine Metallfolie mit einer für die erforderlichen Schutzhülleneigenschaften ausreichenden Dicke und wird im Interesse der Biegsamkeit und der Herstellungskosten des Behälters relativ dünn gehalten. Aluminiumfolien haben sich als geeignet erwiesen.
Die Innenschicht besteht aus dem Mischpolymeren aus Äthylen und äthylenisch ungesättigter Monocarbonsäure, z. B. Acrylsäure, mit zufälliger Struktur (random type), das nach dem bekannten Hochdruckverfahren zur Herstellung von Polyäthylen mit geringer Dichte erhalten worden ist. Dieses spezielle Mischpolymere hat einen mischpolymerisierten Acrylsäuregehalt.jnder Größenordnung von 3 ± 0,5 Gewichtsteilen, bezogen auf das Mischpolymerengewicht, und einen Schmelzindex von 8 ± 1.
Die bemerkenswert verbesserte Haftung an der metallischen Unterlage, die durch ein Mischpolymeres aus Äthylen und Acrylsäure erreicht wird, wird durch das folgende Beispiel klar unter Beweis gestellt.
Beispiel
Eine Aluminiumfolie mit einer Dicke von etwa 0,0127 mm wurde auf eine Temperatur von ungefähr 177° C erhitzt und eine Fläche der erhitzten Folie mit einem extrudierten Film eines willkürlichen Copolymeren aus Äthylen und Acrylsäure (Säureanteil 3 + 05 °/o und Schmelzindex 8 ± 1) in Berührung gebracht, während auf die gegenüberliegende Fläche der Folie ein Film aus Polyäthylen von geringer Dichte aufgebracht wurde.
Unter Verwendung von angetriebenen Walzen wurde ein Schichtkörperband erhalten, dessen Mischpolymerenschicht etwa 0,152 mm und dessen PoIyäthylenschicht etwa 0,127 mm dick war. Dabei ist vorzugsweise die Extrusionsgeschwindigkeit der thermoplastischen Bänder kleiner als die Lineargeschwindigkeit der Trägerfolie und der Walzen, so daß die Kunststoffbänder in üblicher Weise nach
ao unten gezogen und verdünnt werden, bevor sie auf das Grundmaterial aufgewalzt werden. Das Band wurde dann zur Rohrform mit überlappendem Seitensaum gebogen und eine Seiten- oder Randverbindung mit einem auf 204° C erwärmten Band-
Dichtungsmittel gebildet. .: — ■-
Der kontinuierliche rohrförmige Körper wurde zunächst in Rohrkörper von vorbestimmter Länge unterteilt, an die dann einzeln mit thermoplastischem Material, wie Polyäthylen von niedriger oder hoher Dichte, in der Wärme der Tubenkopf und eine Enddichtung angeformt wurden.
Die Rohre wurden dann mit einer bekannten, Fluorid enthaltenden Zahnpasta gefüllt, die ätherische Öle aufwies, und die gefüllten Tubenkörper wurden einer Temperatur von etwa 49° C ausgesetzt. Nach 60 Tagen unter diesen Bedingungen war keine Schichtablösung sichtbar, wohingegen ein aus Polyäthylen-Aluminiumfolie-Polyäthylen-Schichten hergestelltes Schichtkörperrohr starke Schichtablösungen nach nur 4 oder 5 Tagen unter diesen Bedingungen zeigte.
Ein rohrförmiger Behälter der beschriebenen Art mit einer Außenschicht aus Polyäthylen oder demselben Mischpolymeren wie die Innenschicht hat auch eine ausgezeichnete Knickbruchfestigkeit, und die Innenschicht ergibt eine hochgradige Haftabbindung mit dem thermoplastischen Material des Kopfstückes, insbesondere wenn dieses in der genannten Art direkt angegossen bzw. angeformt ist.

Claims (2)

Patentansprüche:
1. Zusammendrückbarer Behälter mit einem verformbaren Rohrkörper, der an einem Ende ein im wesentlichen aus Kunststoff bestehendes Kopfteil trägt und aus einem Schichtmaterial besteht, welches eine aus Metall bestehende Schicht aufweist, die wenigstens an ihrer dem Behälterinnern zugekehrten Oberfläche mit einer oder mehreren Kunststoffschichten versehen ist, wobei wenigstens die unmittelbar auf die Metalloberfläche aufgebrachte Schicht aus einem thermoplastischen Polymeren besteht, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Polymere ein Mischpolymeres aus Äthylen und einer äthylenisch ungesättigten Monocarbonsäure, wie Acryl- oder Alkacrylsäure ist, mit einem auf das Gesamtgewicht des Mischpolymeren bezogenen Carbonsäuregehalt von 0,5 bis 20 %> und einem Schmelzindex von 1 bis 50.
2. Behälter nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Mischpolymere einen Acrylsäuregehalt von etwa 3 % und einen Schmelzindex von etwa 8 besitzt.
