Es ist bereits bekannt, nach dem in der USA.-Patentschrift 3 072 609 beschriebenen Verfahren Copolymerisate
des Trioxans mit Epichlorhydrin oder 4-Chlormethyl-l,3-dioxolan herzustellen.
Copolymerisate des Trioxans mit cyclischen Äthern besitzen bekanntlich große Härte, Zähigkeit sowie
Wärmebeständigkeit und werden im Spritzguß- oder Extrusionsverfahren zu mechanisch stark beanspruchbaren
^ormkörpern verarbeitet. Bedingt durch geringe Haftfestigkeit an Metallen konnten die Copoly- ro
merisate bisher nicht zur Metallbeschichtung eingesetzt werden.
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß man fiuorhaltige Copolymerisate des Trioxans herstellen kann, wenn
man Gemische aus
a) 70 bis 99,5 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf das Monomerengemisch, Trioxan,
b) 0 bis 10 Gewichtsprozent cyclischem Äther und
c) 0,5 bis 20 Gewichtsprozent fluorhaltigem cyclischem Äther
der allgemeinen Formel

in der R1 und R3 einen 1 bis 10 Fluoratome, gegebenenfalls
Chloratome, enthaltenden aliphatischen Kohlenwasserstoffrest mit 1 bis 10 C-Atomen, dessen Kohlenwasserstoffkette
gegebenenfalls durch 1 bis 3 Sauerstoffatome unterbrochen ist, einen 4- bis 6gliedrigen
cyclischen Kohlenwasserstoffrest; R2 oder R4. Wasserstoffatome,
Alkylgruppen mit 1 bis 2 C-Atomen, Rs Methylen-, Oxymethylengruppen, a, b, c und d
als Indizes 0 oder die ganze Zahl 1 oder 2, wobei die Summe a + c den Wert 1 oder 2 und die Summe
a + b und c + d jeweils den Wert 2 besitzen, und η als Index 0 und ganze Zahlen von 1 bis 3 bedeuten,
in Gegenwart von kationenaktiven Katalysatoren in an sich bekannter Weise polymerisiert.
Die so erhaltenen Copolymerisate haften gut an Metallen.
Erfindungsgemäß verwendete fiuorhaltige cyclische Äther sind z. B.:

Die fluorhaltigen cyclischen Äther werden in Mengen von 0,5 bis 20 Gewichtsprozent, insbesondere von
bis 10 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf das gesamte Monomerengemisch, eingesetzt.
Es ist weiterhin möglich, unter Zusatz von 0 bis Gewichtsprozent cyclisches Äther zu polymerisieren.
Geeignete cyclische Äther sind z. B. Äthylenoxyd, Propylenoxyd, Epichlorhydrin, 1,4-Butandiolformal,
Diäthylenglykolformal, 1,4-Butendiolfornial,
1,4-Butandioldiglycidyläther, Oxacyclobutan, 1,3-Dioxolan.

Die Polymerisation kann nach an sich bekannten Verfahren in der Schmelze, in Lösung oder in Suspension
durchgeführt werden. Als Lösungs- oder Suspensionsmittel kommen gegenüber den Monomeren und
dem Katalysator inerte aliphatische oder cycloaliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffe mit 6 bis 18 C-Atomen,
wie z. B. η-Hexan oder Cyclohexan, in Betracht. Besonders glatt verläuft die Polymerisation in der
Schmelze bei Temperaturen zwischen +60 und + 1100C. Es ist dabei möglich, Trioxan und die
fluorhaltigen cyclischen Äther gleichzeitig oder zunächst nur die fluorhaltigen cyclischen Äther zu
polymerisieren und anschließend unter Zusatz von Trioxan weiter zu polymerisieren.
Die Polymerisation wird ausgelöst durch bekannte kationaktive Katalysatoren, z. B. Lewis-Säuren (Definition
der Lewis-Säuren s. Kort um, Lehrbuch der Elektrochemie, Wiesbaden 1948, S. 300 bis 301),
vorzugsweise Bortrifluorid. Letzteres wird vorzugsweise in Form seiner Komplexverbindungen, z. B.
als Ätherat oder Aryldiazoniumfluorborat, eingesetzt. An Stelle der Lewis-Säuren, ihren Ätheraten oder
Oxoniumsalzen können auch andere kationisch wirksame Substanzen, wie z. B. anorganische und organische
Säuren, z. B. Perchlorsäure, Hexachlorozinnsäure^eptafluor-p-toluolsulfonsäurejTrifluormethansulfonsäure,
zur Auslösung der Polymerisation eingesetzt werden.
Die Konzentration der Katalysatoren hängt in erster Linie von ihrer Aktivität ab und kann zwischen
0,0001 und 1,0 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf die gesamte Monomerenmischung, liegen.
Zur Entfernung der instabilen Halbacetalendgruppen können die Copolymerisate in bekannter Weise
einem alkalischen Abbau (vgl. belgische Patentschrift 617 897) unterworfen werden. Es ist vorteilhaft, den
Copolymerisaten bekannte Wärmestabilisatoren und Oxydationsinhibitoren zuzusetzen (vgl. deutsche Auslegeschrift
1104 695, 1129 689).
Die erfindungsgemäß hergestellten Copolymerisate
weisen gegenüber den bekannten Polymerisaten des Trioxans folgende überraschende technische Vorteile
auf:
Die erfindungsgemäß erhaltenen Copolymerisate ergeben, auf Eisen- oder VA-Bleche aufgebracht,
harte, festhaftende Überzüge, die nur noch mechanisch, z. B. durch Abschmirgeln, entfernt werden
können. Die bekannten Homo- und Copolymerisate des Trioxans können dagegen als zusammenhängender
Film von der Metalloberfläche abgezogen werden.
Die Copolymerisate sind thermostabil und können thermoplastisch verarbeitet werden. Sie eignen sich
besonders zum Beschichten von Metallen nach dem Wirbelsinterverfahren sowie als Schmelzkleber für
Metalle.

zerkleinert. Anschließend wird das Polymerisat zur Entfernung aller instabilen Anteile und Restmonomeren
30 Minuten lang in Benzylalkohol, dem 1 Volumprozent Äthanolamin zugesetzt ist, bei 1500C
behandelt. Das nach dem Abkühlen aus dem Benzylalkohol ausgefallene Polymerisat wird abgesaugt,
mehrmals mit Methanol ausgekocht und unter vermindertem Druck bei 50 bis 700C getrocknet. Die
Ausbeute an Polymerisat beträgt 55 g.
Eine Probe des Polymerisats wird zusätzlich mit 0,7 Gewichtsprozent 2,2 - Methylen - bis - 4 - methyl-6-tert.butylphenol
und 0,2 Gewichtsprozent Dicyandiamid stabilisiert und einem thermischen Abbau bei 230° C während 45 Minuten unterworfen. Der
Gewichtsverlust KD beträgt 0,0209% pro Minute.
Das Polymerisat besitzt eine reduzierte spezifische Viskosität tjred = 0,22 (50 mg des Polymerisats werden
in 10 ml Butyrolaceton, das 0,2% Dicyandiamid enthält, bei 1400C gelöst und seine Viskosität
bei dieser Temperatur gemessen). Laut Analyse enthält das Polymerisat, das eine sehr gute Metallhaftung
aufweist, 3,5% Fluor.
Analog dem Beispiel 1 werden 97 g Trioxan und 3 g l,l,2,2-Tetrafluor-3-epoxycyclobutan bei Gegenwart
von 1 ml BF3-di-n-butylätherat/Cyclohexan (1:80) als Katalysator copolymerisiert. Die Ausbeute
an Polymerisat beträgt nach dem alkalischen Abbau 54 g. Am Polymerisat werden gemessen:
Vred: 0,52 und KD: 0,0437% pro Minute.
Analog dem Beispiel 1 werden 975 g Trioxan, 20 g Äthylenoxyd und 5 g l,l,2,2-Tetrafiuor-3-epoxycyclobutan
bei Gegenwart von 10 ml BF3-di-n-butylätherat/Cyclohexan
(1:40) copolymerisiert. Die Ausbeute an Polymerisat beträgt nach dem alkalischen
Abbau 760 g. Am Polymerisat wird ein Schmelzindex Z2 = 16,3 g/10 Minuten gemessen (ASTM-D
1238-52 T).
Analog dem Beispiel 1 werden 950 g Trioxan, 20 g Äthylenoxyd und 30 g l,l,2,2-Tetrafluor-3-epoxycyclobutan
bei Gegenwart von 5 ml BF3-di-n-butylätherat/Cyclohexan
(1:40) copolymerisiert. Die Ausbeute an Polymerisat beträgt nach dem alkalischen
Abbau 660 g. An diesem Polymerisat werden gemessen: 7]red: 0,38 und KD: 0,033% pro Minute.
Analog dem Beispiel 1 werden 80 g Trioxan, 2 g Äthylenoxyd und 18 g 5,5-Di-(a,a-difluor-/?-chlor-(S-fluoräthoxymethyi)-1,3-dioxan

Gefäß in einem thermokonstanten Bad von 700C polymerisiert. Die Polymerisation erfolgt innerhalb

Claims (1)
- Patentanspruch:Verfahren zur Herstellung von fluorhaltigen Copolymerisaten des Trioxans, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man Gemische ausa) 70 bis 99,5 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf das Monomerengemisch, Trioxan,b) 0 bis 10 Gewichtsprozent cyclischem Äther undc) 0,5 bis 20 Gewichtsprozent fluorhaltigem cyclischem Ätherder allgemeinen Formelgegebenenfalls Chloratome, enthaltenden aliphatischen Kohlenwasserstoffrest mit 1 bis 10 C-Atomen, dessen Kohlenwasserstoffkette gegebenenfalls durch 1 bis 3 Sauerstoffatome unterbrochen ist, einen 4- bis 6gliedrigen cyclischen Kohlenwasserstoffrest; R2 oder R4 Wasserstoffatome, Alkylgruppen mit 1 bis 2 C-Atomen, R5 Methylen-, Oxymethylengruppen, a, b, c und d als Indizes 0 oder die ganze Zahl 1 oder 2, wobei die Summe a + c den Wert 1 oder 2 und die Summe a + b und c + d jeweils den Wert 2 besitzen, und η als Index 0 und ganze Zahlen von 1 bis 3 bedeuten, in Gegenwart von kationenaktiven Katalysatoren in an sich bekannter Weise polymerisiert.in der R1 und R3 einen 1 bis 10 Fluoratome, In Betracht gezogene Druckschriften:
