The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for continuous longitudinal folding of strips of paper, plastic or the like while reversing the belt conveying direction by 180 °. Used for folding paper and plastic bands or strips one folding machines, in which the tapes in a funnel element or over one with guide elements provided folding plate are guided. However, these apparatuses have the disadvantage of being relatively long and complicated and difficult to adjust.
Hier schafft die Erfindung Abhilfe. The invention provides a remedy here.
According to the invention, the folding is carried out in such a way that initially a part of the tape with a roof-shaped longitudinal crease and then the pinched part on top of the still not pinched Tape is turned over, whereupon after folding the tape parts halved by the pinch while maintaining of the reversal point forming a point, the folded part of the tape moves at the same speed is withdrawn as the unfolded tape part is fed. The inventive method has the advantage of great simplicity. An apparatus for performing this method requires no shaping parts for the formation of the fold, but a flat plate over which the not folded Tape is fed, and a drive mechanism for removing the folded tape suffice.
The method according to the invention also has the advantage that, due to the very sharp bending of the band at the point where the fold is formed in the flat part of the belt, the material is at its original Loses rigidity. This gives a very flexible fold and the folded material has none Tendency to return to its flat shape after a while.
Finally, the inventive method has the advantage that, as a result of the reversal of the folded tape into the other strips and / or tapes, either folded or not, in a simple manner folded material can be folded in.
The invention is illustrated in the drawings, in which some embodiments are shown and described in detail below.

Fig. 7 ist eine Vorderansicht eines Bandes mit rechteckigem Faltprofil;Fig. 7 is a front view of a tape having a rectangular fold profile;
F i g. 8 is a schematic of a packaging device.
The F i g. 1, 2 and 3 illustrate the process of forming a fold in the material.
The F i g. 1 shows the beginning of the convolution. The strip of material 1 is folded at one end, and the folded piece is bent up in the direction of the arrow, so that two sectors 3 and 4 are created, the apexes of which meet at point 5, the end point of the fold 2 .
When the fold 2 is bent further, two conical surface-shaped surfaces 3 and 4 are obtained are clearly formed and the tips are at point 5 (Fig. 2). They have their final shape when the fold 2 lies against the unfolded part of the tape 1. If you now move the folded Part 6 of tape 1 in the direction of the arrow in Fig. 3, so the band 1 will fold hi the cone tip 5 (Fig. 3).
Wenn sich die beiden Walzensätze mit gleicher Um-In order to carry out the folding continuously, one must have the part to be folded and also the part that has already been folded Continue part of volume 1. A schematic of such a drive system is illustrated in Fig. 4, wherein the rollers 17, 18 and 19 the unfolded part and the pair of rollers 20, 21 den transport the already folded part of the belt. If the two sets of rollers move with the same
309 779/85309 779/85
If you rotate the speed of fall, the point 5 where the tape folds will remain on the base plate 22. The fold is made by reversing the vertical folded part over the unfolded part Part of the belt formed automatically; Support or form plates are unnecessary.
Because the material 1 is bent at a sharp angle at point 5, the material loses its elasticity along the entire length of the fold, giving an accurate and very flexible fold. Even if the tape is cut into short pieces or strips after folding, the separate ones have Pieces or strips have no tendency to return to their original open shape.
As a result of slipping and friction phenomena when the belt is being driven, the folding point 5 will not always remain in the same place, but will instead be offset relative to the rollers 17, 18 and 19. To prevent these movements during the folding process, you can, for. B. the position of the folding point 5 can be controlled by an optical or mechanical control system that controls the drive mechanism of the roller groups 20, 21 and 17,18,19. The position of the folding point 5 is not shifted by (identical) changes in the peripheral speed of these roller groups.
As in Fig. 5 illustrates, in another embodiment, folding the tape can also be done with the help of two cones; the drive system mentioned above is omitted. By the Pulling the already folded part over the two cones 13 and 14, the unfolded tape is fed. These cones can also be fixed, but in this case it is a smooth and frictionless surface necessary.
For the embodiment of FIG. 5 the following should be said: The dimensions of the cones are chosen so that the length of the curved edge 9-12 or 7-10 of the band 1 is twice the length of the sharp fold 5-8 (Fi g. 3 and 5). This results from the fact that a line 7-9, which runs transversely to the axis of the tape, is still perpendicular to the axis of this tape after the tape has been folded over by 180 ° (cf. lines 10-8 and 12-8; the Points 10 and 12 converge).
Because the tape is not deformed in any other way other than the sharp fold, each of the lengths 7-10 and 9-12, measured along the edge of the tape 1, must be equal to the sum of the lengths 8-5 and 5-11 , ie twice the length of the sharp fold 5-8 (Figs. 3 and 5).
On the basis of the relationships mentioned, the apex angles of the cones 13 and 14 can be determined or, according to a variant, the guide plate 15 and 16 (FIG. 6) can be designed.
The tips of the cones 13 and 14 or the guide plate 15 and 16 do not end in the fold 5, because the band 1 folds itself by guiding the already folded part back over the unfolded part of the tape. However, it is possible to use the cones 13 and 14 or the guide plates 15 and 16 up tightly in guide the folding point 5. A lateral deviation of the band due to structural imperfections the material can be seen through the arrangement of guide elements on the left and right next to it make the tape impossible.
B. in F i g. 7 gezeigt wird. For certain purposes it may be desirable instead of - as before - a sharp fold, a fuzzy one or a specially profiled fold, e.g. B. in the form of a rectangle, as it is, for. Am F i g. 7 is shown. To create such a rectangular folding profile, the tips of the conical Elements 13 and 14 are at a certain distance from each other. In addition, however, one must since otherwise only a sharp fold would also be formed, use a profile element 23.
From the preceding description it is evident that the process according to the invention is continuous Folding a paper or plastic tape in the longitudinal direction to produce a sharp or a profiled fold allows.
In addition, the method according to the invention has the advantage that it is very easy to fold other tapes or foils into the material that has already been folded. From Fig. 4 it can be seen that the fold formed at point 5 is accessible over its entire height. If one or more bands are inserted into the opening between the two conical sectors 3 and 4 of the band 1 in the longitudinal direction of the band 1 at this point, these further bands are carried along by the folded band and transported further through the pair of rollers 20, 21.
Such a method is particularly suitable, inter alia, to solve the packaging problem of To solve x-ray films. It is known that X-ray films made from film foils emulsified on both sides, which are packed in a paper folder. So far, the packaging of such X-ray film sheets has been used Hand-finished into the leaflets.
If the packaging is carried out according to the method according to the invention, the whole packaging process becomes considerably simplified.
A schematic of a suitable packaging system is illustrated in FIG. The X-ray film 24 and the wrapping paper 25 are continuously fed from a supply roll. The packaging paper tape 25 is made with a device according to FIG. 6 folded. After the film tape 24 has been inserted into the folded paper tape 25 , the whole is driven by means of the roller pair 26, 27 . A suitable cutting system 28, which is arranged behind the pair of rollers 26, 27 , regularly cuts the tapes 24 and 25 into certain lengths, so that finally film tapes 29, each packed in a folded sheet, are obtained. These packaged sheets of film are removed by a suitable device and passed on.
