Hierdurch wird zunächst eine raschere und gleichmäfsigere Heizung jedes Colonnenbeckens insofern erzielt, als sich der ganze Beckenboden, dessen Wandung über den Höhlungen so dünn wie möglich gemacht wird, rascher und gleichmäfsiger erwärmt und seine Wärme an das direct darauf stehende Waschöl, Theer etc. gleichmäfsiger und rascher abgiebt. Dazu trägt noch der Umstand wesentlich bei, dafs der Beckenboden eine beträchtlich gröfsere Heizfläche besitzt als die darüber liegende Dampfschlange. Ferner können die Flüssigkeitsschichten in den einzelnen Becken, weil sie keine Dampfschlangen zu bedecken haben, wesentlich' niedriger angenommen werden, was unter Umständen, insbesondere WQi.es sich um rasche Erwärmung handelt, von gföfsem Vortheil ist.
