Process for the preparation of copper-containing trisazo dyes The invention relates to a process for the preparation of copper-containing trisazo dyes of the general formula in which R denotes the radical of an acylaminooxynaphthalenesulfonic acid, the oxy group being in the ortho position to the azo group.
gebunden.
These complex compounds are obtained by dealkylating metallization of the dyes of the general formula produced, in which R has the same meaning as above, by means of compounds of divalent copper. The O-alkyl group is converted into the oxy group by hydrolysis; the copper is bound to the oxy groups in the o-o 'position to the azo group. If R is the remainder of the formula means, then any excess copper present in the metallization medium is bound. For example, copper-containing compounds can be obtained which include 2 copper atoms per molecule of the dye. This does not reduce the solubility of the dye. These 2: 1 complex compounds can now be used for the production of complex compounds which contain a single copper atom per molecule of the trisazo dye. It is sufficient to treat the dicopper compound at 80 ° C with a solution of the tetrasodium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid. This partial demetallization can, however, also be carried out by simply mixing the metal-removing agent with the isolated and dried dicopper compound or by adding the same metal-removing agent to the dye liquor.
The copper-containing complex compounds, which per molecule of the trisazo compound
Include 1 to 2 metal atoms are particularly suitable for coloring
Vegetable fibers, whereby one obtains light- and washfast colors.
guter Lichtechtheitseigenschaften. In the method according to the invention, in which of chelating groups
how salicylic residue-free dyes are used, one needs in contrast to
the method of the German patent specification 955 715 no additional treatment with
Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid when using stoichiometric amounts of copper salt,
based on the dyes. The copper complex compounds obtained show themselves
after possible treatment with the tetrasodium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid
under the conditions described above the advantage of complete homogeneity and very
good lightfastness properties.
Die nachstehenden Beispiele, in welchen die angegebenen Teile Gewichtsteile
sind, dienen der Erläuterung der Erfindung. Beispiel 1 109,4 Teile des Natriumsalzes
des Trisazofarbstoffs der Formel
werden in 2400 Teilen Wasser von 90° C aufgelöst. Dieser Lösung setzt man 10 Teile
Natriumbicarbonat hinzu.
erhaltene Kupferkomplexverbindung enthält je Molekül des Azofarbstoffs nur 1 Metallatom;
The following examples, in which the parts indicated are parts by weight, serve to illustrate the invention. Example 1 109.4 parts of the sodium salt of the trisazo dye of the formula are dissolved in 2400 parts of water at 90 ° C. 10 parts of sodium bicarbonate are added to this solution. A solution of 30 parts of crystallized copper sulfate in 150 parts of water and 56.5 parts of ammonia solution of 20 percent by volume is then slowly added. The mixture is heated for 10 hours at 90 to 92 ° C. and the metallized dye is precipitated by adding sodium chloride, whereupon it is filtered and dried. This dye has only 1 metal atom in the molecule; it dyes cellulosic fibers in a bluish green shade. Example 2 The dye used in Example 1 is replaced by the same amount of a trisazo compound of the formula The procedure of Example 1 is followed, except that 50 parts of copper sulfate are used instead of 30 parts. A copper (II) compound is obtained which includes 2 metal atoms per molecule; it dyes cellulosic fibers in a greenish-blue shade. EXAMPLE 3 A concentrated solution of the tetrasodium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid is added to the reaction medium resulting from the metallization described in Example 2, in such an amount that the concentration in the mixture: is 10%. After stirring for half an hour at 80 to 85 ° C., the dye is isolated by adding sodium chloride. The copper complex compound obtained in this way contains only 1 metal atom per molecule of the azo dye; it dyes cellulosic fibers in a somewhat bluer shade than the dicopper (II) connection does. Example 4 The copper complex compound of the trisazo dye of the formula is prepared according to the information in Example 1. The dye obtained contains only a single atom of copper in its molecule; it dyes cellulosic fibers in a green shade.
