Es wird deshalb häufig einem solchen Durchlauferhitzer ein Warmwasserspeicher vorgezogen, der Warmwasser in größeren Mengen speichert und in der Lage ist, große Warmwassermengen schnell abzugeben. Nach der Leerung dieses Speichers vergeht jedoch eine bestimmte Zeit, bis wieder ausreichend Warmwasser zur Verfügung steht.
