Description
The invention relates to improvements in screen or stencil printing machines in which a "color," d. H. Printing ink, paints, enamel, adhesives or the like. With the help of a squeegee through the Openings of a printing form in the form of a mesh screen or a stencil directly onto one to be printed Surface is pressed or squeezed, the squeegee and the relevant printing form relative are moved towards each other. For the sake of simplicity, the term "printing form" should be used when referring generally to a screen or stencil.
Solche thermoplastischen oder härtbaren Massen können für den Reliefdruck verwendet werden."Colors" should not only be understood to mean liquid or semi-liquid coloring substances, but rather also other liquid or semi-liquid compounds including thermoplastic masses that are commonly used Temperature are fixed and used in the molten state, or such Substances that can be hardened at ordinary temperature by the application of heat. Such thermoplastic or curable compounds can be used for relief printing.
The printing machines in question, e.g. those with a silk screen, usually have a squeegee with smooth, mostly elastic surface, such as rubber, applied to the paint through the openings to press the printing form. However, the squeegees in use hitherto are not suitable for the To regulate the flow of ink to the printing point.
The invention has set itself the task of comparing the supply of color through the printing form. The solution to this problem is essentially that on the surface of the Squeegee ink-carrying depressions are attached, the boundaries of which are at least partially transverse to the Relative movement of the squeegee and printing form are and are arranged one after the other that they come into contact with the printing forme one after the other when the machine is in operation.
SchablonendruckmaschineSince the invention relates to a printing machine in which the color is pressed by means of the squeegee directly through the printing form onto the surface to be printed, devices cannot be used for comparison in which an intermediate layer, e.g. B. a paint pad is soaked with the paint, and the paint passes from there onto the stencil or through its recesses. In these cases, a doctor blade is not required for the purposes of the present invention. For example, in the known stencil printing machine according to German patent specification 227 822, the color by means of a doctor blade for a screen or

B. Buchstaben) sorgen, wird bei Schablonendruckmaschinen vorliegender Art dieBrush spread on the inner surface of a paint pad stretched on a drum. The brush is moved relative to the template, either in the axial direction or in a rotating manner. In the planographic printing machine according to German patent specification 589 227, too, there is an ink-carrying intermediate layer between the ink distributor and the stencil, namely in the form of an ink ribbon. The color is distributed on the ribbon with the help of a corrugated pressure roller. The printing roller is either an ink carrier or a squeegee for pressing the ink directly through the printing form. The printing machine for the Austrian patent specification 91145 also has an ink pad, ζ. B. a felt layer is provided from which the paint gets onto the stencil.
Even less than a stencil printing machine, in which the color reaches the stencil via an intermediate carrier, an inking roller provided for a rotary printing machine can be used for comparison. US Pat. No. 2,217,552 describes an ink-supplying roller which has openings on its cylindrical surface through which the printing ink is applied from the inside of the roller to another roller, which in turn is brought into contact with the printing plates. While intermediate rollers ensure that the color is evenly applied to the print figures (e.g. letters), in the case of stencil printing machines of the present type, the

The contacting surfaces of the roller and printing forme are preferably in moves in the opposite direction.
To get both sides of the material, e.g. B. a continuous paper tape, to be printed, can, as is known, two drum frames with printing forme and squeegee on both sides Ways this material can be arranged. These two units can, as is also known per se is to be arranged opposite each other so that their axes are on a line, in the right Angle to the path of the material, and that at least one of these aggregates so against the others is pressed that during the printing process the outer surfaces of their printing formes to the Surfaces of the material to be printed on. Optionally, however, the two units also at a distance from each other on the path of the material to be printed on both sides, with opposite the printing point of each of the two drum frames a pressure roller is arranged, which the material presses against the printing forme. In either case, the material can be in the form of a continuous belt the pressure point or points to and away from them. If the two aggregates are mutually exclusive opposite and the doctor blades are provided with ink-carrying depressions, should preferably be the Wells, e.g. B. grooves, the opposing roller surfaces at the pressure point one Form angles with each other so that a mutual networking of the grooves is avoided, which is the case with parallel grooves lying next to the printing forms can easily occur, especially if these tend to to give way under the pressure of the rollers. Rotary machines of this type are particularly suitable for the relief printing described above.
The doctor blade according to the invention can also be used in screen or stencil printing machines in the form of flatbed machines be carried out, d. H. in machines with a flat frame for holding the printing form, a squeegee that comes into contact with the surface of the printing form revolves, and with devices that allow relative movement between frames and squeegee effect and the squeegee for the reasons mentioned above transversely to the direction of the recesses or move indentations. The frame holding the printing form can be stationary and the Squeegee can be moved against it, but it is preferable that the squeegee stand and move the frame will. The doctor blade and the material to be printed are advantageously arranged below the frame pressed against the upper surface of the printing form.
Machines with the doctor blade according to the invention can also easily be a manufacturing process for small objects, such as beads, grains, buttons or other articles of any desired shape, be adjusted. For example, thermoplastic masses are in a soft state by appropriately receive shaped openings from stencil sheets of the appropriate thickness through onto them mending surfaces from which the objects are easily removed when cooling can. So z. B. made thin squares, diamonds, circles or stars for jewelry purposes by placing a thermoplastic mass through ίο appropriately shaped openings onto a chrome-plated Plate is printed from which the objects are easily removed after they have solidified can be.

Lines 84 communicate at the bottom of the grooves with the inside of the cylindrical squeegee. The roller rotates on a fixed hollow shaft 85 in the wall of the shaft In alignment with the printing point, an ink supplying channel 86 in the form of a horizontal one Slot is located. The paint is fed to the interior of the hollow shaft 85 under pressure and through the Channel 86 pushed into the lines 84 and to the grooves 83 when these are at the pressure point the channel 86 happen.
Ebenso ist die Durchgangsrichtung des zu be-The squeegee shown in Fig. 5 is intended for double-sided printing of material, with roller-shaped stencils or printing forms moving in the directions indicated by arrows. In particular, the application of a doctor blade according to the invention in a rotary screen or stencil printing machine shown in FIG. 6. The machine shown is equipped with stencils for relief printing, especially for Braille, provided, but can also be used for ordinary screen or Scha- ίο blonde print, d. H. when using a wide variety of printing forms for screen and stencil printing are common.
In Fig. 6, two drum frames 10 and 11 are arranged opposite one another that their axes lie in one plane and with the path of the paper tape 12 that runs between them, a right Make angles. Each drum frame carries a template 41 made of thin metal or plastic. The drums terminate with end plates, which are supported by tie rods 39, which in turn project on Parts 40 of the end plates are attached, are connected to one another. The templates 41 are with the help of spring-loaded gripping members 43 stretched over the rims of the end plates, and are also the holding devices 42 are provided for fastening the templates.
A roller-shaped doctor blade 53 is provided within each drum frame. This roller and the parts belonging to it are shown in cross section in the drum frame 11, and the drive mechanism this is shown in the side elevation in the drum frame 10. The doctor rollers consist of one Core which is provided with a rubber cover, the surface of which, as shown in Fig. 1, is grooved. Get lost here however, the grooves at an angle to the roll axis, so that the opposing grooves and ribs - as justified above - cannot network with one another.
The supply of the ink to each doctor roller 53 is done by the dye roller 54, which in the im Vessel 55 is immersed in color. Excess paint is removed from the with the aid of a squeegee roller 56 The doctor blade is removed and a rigid metal doctor blade 57 removes the excess paint from the doctor roller. The doctor blade 57 is attached to a rod 58 which is at the top of the rear wall 59 of the paint jar is movably mounted. The rod 58 is through the engagement of the flange 60 with connected to a set screw 61 so that the doctor blade can be adapted to the doctor roller can. Three to four such adjusting screws are provided along the rod 58, but only one of them will be shown.
The paint jar 55, along with the squeegee roller and associated rollers at each end carried by the outriggers 62, only one of which is shown. Each boom 62 is with a bolt 64 attached to an eccentric 63 which is rotatable on the hollow shaft 38. By turning the eccentric the booms are moved forwards or backwards to reduce the pressure of the nip rollers against the to regulate the inner surface of their templates.
Die Rakeln 53 werden von den Wellen 21 bzw. 22 angetrieben. The doctor blades 53 are driven by the shafts 21 and 22, respectively. The shaft 21 carries a gear 65, which in turn drives the gears 66 and 67. Through an opening in the wall of the hollow shaft 38 meshes the drive wheel 66 with the gear 65 located in the interior of the shaft. On the The sprocket 68 sits on the same shaft as the wheel 67 and drives the sprocket 69 via the chain 70. Coaxial with the latter is a wheel (not shown) which is on the axis of the doctor roller 53 seated, also not shown gear drives. The scraper roller 56 is also through the with the sprocket 69 coaxial gear driven by engaging the same in a Gear (not shown) on roller 56. The dye roller is driven so that it is in opposite directions Direction to the rollers 53 and 56 revolves. The directions of rotation of these latter rollers are indicated by arrows. Each squeegee rotates in the opposite direction to that of the stencils, with which they cooperate one after the other, so that the surface of the squeegee, the inner surface of their Touching the stencil, moving downwards at the pressure point, ά. A thermosetting paint, e.g. B. a urea-formaldehyde condensation product and contains an accelerator for this, is applied to the printing point through the holes in the stencils at the same time applied to both sides of the paper tape 12. Depending on the strength of the stencils, raised ones remain Parts of the print are on the surface of the paper tape when it is removed from the stencils moved up. It then happens through a heating device in which the raised pressure parts are subjected to heat hardened and solidified. Each opposite pair of stencils prints two pages of Braille, one on each side of the same section of paper. The paper tape is taken from a supply roll pulled off and brought into the printing position via a roller. It will then also roll over passed through the heater and finally through a pair of feeder rollers. Then will cut the paper tape into lengths suitable for book making.
