. mittels kaustischer Alkalien.. by means of caustic alkalis.
Patentirt im Deutschen Reiche vom 10. November 1898 ab.Patented in the German Empire on November 10, 1898.
The new process is based on the well-known fact that diazo-p-nitroaniline contributes The presence of strong alkalis does not interfere with phenols, e.g. B. Naphtol, coupling, an observation, which up to now has not been used in the calico printing plant for the production of reserves had been.
According to the new process, the cotton peat is prepared as usual for p-nitroaniline red with ß-Naphtol or Naphtol R, dries in the hot flue and prints one of the the following reserves.

Zum Beispiel:After printing, it is dried and then passed through the para-nitroaniline-diazo bath, then without to be washed with a chalk bath (30 g: 1 1.) This is followed by washing, light acidification, washing and drying. These reserves can be printed with alkaline copper solution as needed where they gain in authenticity. For example:

The new procedure differs completely both in principle and in Execution of the well-known method by Schlaepfer, Wenner & Co. (see La über, Zeugdruck, Vol. 2, p. 416,), which refers to the reducing effect of glucose in one based on alkaline means, with finished Paranitranilin-Roth according to known reaction in little colored amidonaphtol and paranitraniline that are easy to remove from the fibers (and this latter further in diamidoazoxybenzene, diamidohydrazobenzene, p-phenylenediamine u. s. w.) passes. The execution is accordingly that of printing the finished, colored red goods with etching.
In contrast, the new process is used to reserve Paranitranilin-Roth and is based on the coupling-disrupting effect of caustic alkali, with no reduction at all takes place. The strongly alkaline but no reducing agent is used for printing Reserve the goods prepared with 8-naphthol, on which the dye is still being formed did not take place. The purpose of the reserve is to prevent this dye from being formed later Preventing diazo bath passage on the printed areas, however, would not be able to prevent the azo dye that has already formed remove, as it does the stains of Schlaepfer, when he & Co. does.
