Description
Process for the production of opal, linen or transparent effects On cotton fabrics it is known to use salts of the sulfuric acid esters of the leuco compounds of vat dyes together with oxidizing agents on cotton fabric and to develop the vat coloration by the action of hot dilute acid.
It has now been shown, surprisingly, that such prints with such acids, which are used for acid finishing of cotton fabrics, cold let develop, so that coloring and finishing are carried out in one operation. Man can in this way the development of the coloring with the production of opal, Combine linen and transparent effects. This is surprising as to be expected was that with the known high acid concentration of the finishing baths (up to 5q. ° B6) the leuco esters of the dyes used over the desired ester cleavage would be attacked and destroyed. It was also found that the fiber at Use of gum arabic as a thickening agent removed from the action of acids without the development of the ester salt is hindered. Starch and tragacanth thickening The fiber does not reserve against the action of the acid, so the fabric does too one of the above effects on the printed area, depending on the strength of the acid shows. The ester salts can be applied to raw goods, bleached or non-mercured ones mercerized goods or printed on cotton fabrics that have already undergone an acid treatment has experienced. Example i 'Mercerized cotton fabric is treated with a printing paste, containing an ester salt of a leukocup, en dye; namely the sodium salt of Disulfuric acid ester of leuco diethylthio-bis-thionaphthene indigo (indigosol scarlet fever), suitable solution additives, such as turkey red oil and the usual wetting agents, starch carrier thickener and sodium nitrite, printed and after drying for a short time, about. i / 4 to i / 2 Minute, with a z. B. treated sulfuric acid of 54'B6 cooled to -8'C, rinsed; neutralized and, if necessary, post-mercerized. One thus obtains a pattern conforming to the pattern printed transparent fabric.
Example 2 Proceed as in example i, but use one Printing paste that contains a rubber thickening instead of the tragacanth thickening and mercerizes under tension. The goods obtained in this way show the so-called image effect. The fabric remains unchanged in the printed areas and otherwise shows Transparent-, Opal or linen effects. If you re-merge without tension, you will achieve at Good washout colored crepe effects with translucent white and matt colored ones Posed.
Beispi@e13 . Example @ e13. -Mercerized Cotton Mousseline Will be as in example i printed and after drying for 6o to 12o seconds with sulfuric acid at 50 ° B6 Treated, washed out and neutralized at ordinary temperature. You get after soaping a real print on opal: Example q. 'Is the goods as in Example 3 dealt with AAI but preprinted with a printing paste that replaces of tragacanth contains gum arabic as a thickening, the same treatment is obtained an opal fabric, the printed areas of which still have their original texture.
Example 5 A fabric of @ röliereri yarn counts as 50.85 is printed metric, which is optionally pre-mercerized, with a printing paste as in example -i, dries, then happens during a few seconds through a sulfuric acid from 53 to 56 ° B6 and mergerized after washing: After your: usual soaps a linen-like fabric is obtained which has been printed according to the pattern. When using rubber thickening the printed area of the fabric remains in its original condition with the same treatment Texture, while the rest of the fabric becomes linen-like.
Example 6 A voile fabric is boiled, optionally bleached Condition as in example i printed, dried, a few seconds with a sulfuric acid Treated from at least 53 ° B6, washed out and in mercerized or non-mercerized Soaped at the boil. The pattern-printed fabric thus obtained shows a constant voilefinish.
