Abstract
The idea is to install automatic fold-out flood protection walls with counter-pressure technology in the sidewalk of waterfront promenades, the crest of the dam, the bank or around objects worth protecting, where the compensation of the static water pressure is generated by the introduced water. For this purpose, there is a water-filled plastic container on the side of the flood protection wall facing away from the flood. When full, the water in the container creates a static pressure that balances the static pressure on the water side. The construction itself then (only) has to withstand the additional dynamic pressure. The construction is filled with water at high tide. It stands up automatically and offers up to 2m (even more in the case of complex installation) additional flood protection. After the flood, the water is drained from the containers and the barrier lowers itself back into the promenade, the crest of the dam, the bank or the area around the object to be protected.
Description
The automatically fold-out flood protection wall with counter-pressure technology consists of standard elements made of stable steel, aluminum or plastic profiles with a rectangular cross-section of width B and height H in various lengths 1 (see Figure 1). In the corners on the flood side (F) there is also a rectangular profile with the height H - d (d = thickness of the tread plate) and the width L. This profile contains the pressurized water pipe (or serves as such), which also serves as a The element is drained (large cross-section), as well as a valve for filling and draining the element with water and a control line for opening the drain valve. Elastic cords can also be attached here, which ensure that the pressurized water body is placed neatly back into the element when it is emptied, so that the step plate closes again and can be walked on or driven on without a tripping hazard. Apart from the end elements, the side parts of the pressurized water body can be selected to be thinner, as there are always two walls that are adjacent to one another. They must also be pulled slightly inwards with an elastic cord so that they lie neatly in the element when the pressurized water body is emptied. The tread plate made of solid metal can be turned around the edge facing the flood edge. The pressurized water body is closed. At high tide it is filled with screened flood water using a water pump. As a result, the stepping plate is raised from the horizontal to the vertical and increases the dam height by h. On the side facing the tide, the pressurized water body is firmly connected to the tread plate, and below it is firmly connected to the element floor. A detachable connection is also conceivable, so that the pressurized water body could be replaced. On the side facing away from the tide, the profile of the pressurized water body assumes a quadrant shape when filled. The internal pressure in the pressure hull is in bar at least h/2 in m. The pressure hull must be able to withstand this pressure. After the tide, the drain valve is opened. The water flows out of the pressure hull via the pressure water pipe previously used for filling. The treadle slowly sinks back to the horizontal position. It is also conceivable to fix the unfolded footplate mechanically with the help of manually inserted rods or hydraulically.
