Description
Technisches Gebiettechnical field
The invention relates to a method for cleaning a metal workpiece, in particular after machining with minimum quantity lubrication, and a system for carrying out such a method.
When machining metals, high temperatures can occur, which can cause premature tool wear and unwanted structural changes in the workpiece. It is therefore customary to rinse the machining area with a cooling lubricant which, on the one hand, dissipates heat and, on the other hand, reduces friction and thus the heat generated through the lubricating effect. So-called minimum quantity lubrication has recently become established, in which only small quantities, for example <100 ml/h (minimum quantity cooling lubrication, MQL) or even <20 ml/h (minimum quantity lubrication, MQL), of the cooling lubricant are used. This has the advantage, among other things, that only very small amounts of liquid waste occur and that the chips produced are not or only slightly contaminated and can therefore easily be reused. Such small amounts of cooling lubricant are often conveyed to the machining point of the workpiece in the form of aerosols with air and/or water vapor for uniform distribution.
Although only small amounts of cooling lubricant are used for minimum quantity lubrication, it is unavoidable that residues of the agent remain on the machined workpiece, for example both the agent itself and decomposition products of organic components or solid lubricants contained in the agent such as graphite or molybdenum disulphide. These residues are often dark in color, bulky or form a solid layer, and therefore interfere with tight fits. These residues must therefore be removed in a cleaning step. The workpiece must not be damaged and the process must be able to be integrated into the time cycle of continuous production.

Aufgabenstellungtask
An object of the present invention is to specify a method for cleaning workpieces made of metal that have been machined using minimum quantity lubrication or minimum quantity cooling lubrication, and to provide a system with which the method according to the invention can be carried out.
Allgemeine Beschreibung der ErfindungGeneral Description of the Invention
This object is achieved by a method according to claim 1 and a system according to claim 11.
It was surprisingly found that cleaning a workpiece machined with minimum quantity lubrication with a steam jet and a cleaning agent containing surfactants is possible much more quickly and effectively if the surface to be cleaned is first cleaned with coated with a thin layer of a cleaning concentrate and treated with a steam jet after a predetermined exposure time. It was found that the method according to the invention is superior to the known methods in which the cleaning agent is added directly to the steam jet before it hits the surface to be cleaned.
According to the invention, a concentrate of a cleaning agent is used in the first step of the method. For conventional uses, such concentrates are regularly diluted with a multiple, for example 10-200 times, amount of solvent, usually water. Suitable cleaning concentrates contain nonionic and/or anionic surfactants. Suitable concentrations of the surfactant in the concentrate are between 0.5 and 20 or 0.5 and 10, preferably between 0.5 and 5 or 1.0 and 5, particularly preferably between 1.0 and 3 percent by weight, based on the concentrate used.
Preferred suitable nonionic surfactants are ethoxylates, propoxylates and/or ethoxy/propoxylates of fatty alcohols. These are alkyl alcohols with 6-22, preferably with 8-18, carbon atoms in the alkyl radical. The alkyl radical is preferably linear, but can also be branched. Mixtures of different fatty alcohols can be alkoxylated, as can be derived, for example, from naturally occurring fatty acids. The degree of alkoxylation is generally between 1.5 and about 20. Propoxylates of fatty alcohols in which at least 50% of the alkyl radicals are mono- or polyunsaturated and have 18 carbon atoms, for example oleyl radicals, are preferred. Propoxylates of fatty alcohols in which at least 80% of the alkyl radicals are oleyl radicals are particularly preferred. The degree of propoxylation can be between about 1.5 and about 6, preferably between 1.5 and 3. Alkoxylates of alkylphenols are also preferably suitable.
Suitable anionic surfactants are sulfates, sulfonates and carboxylic acids with an aliphatic, aromatic or aliphatic-aromatic hydrocarbon radical, for example dodecyl sulfonate, lauryl sulfonate, alkylphenyl sulfonates, stearic acid, oleic acid.
The cleaning concentrates can contain polyethyleneimines, preferably with a molecular weight between 1000 and 100,000, particularly preferably between 2000 and 20,000, preferably in a concentration of 0.1-3 percent by weight.
Die Reinigerkonzentrate können Aminoalkohole, beispielsweise Triethanolamin, Ethanolamin, enthalten. The cleaning concentrates can contain amino alcohols, for example triethanolamine, ethanolamine.
To adjust the viscosity of the cleaning concentrate, known thickeners can be incorporated, with which the viscosity is adjusted in such a way that the film has the desired layer thickness when applied to the workpiece. Natural thickeners such as alginates, xanthan, dextrins, pectins, modified natural substances such as carboxymethyl cellulose, hydroxymethyl cellulose and other cellulose ethers and polymeric thickeners such as polyacrylic and polymethacrylic compounds, polycarboxylic acids, polyamides, PVP and the like are preferred.
Other customary auxiliaries such as complexing agents, for example nitrilotriacetic acid, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, citric acid, anti-foaming agents, salts of organic or inorganic acids, can also be contained in the cleaning concentrate.
So-called neutral cleaners are particularly preferably used, with the pH of the concentrate preferably being between 7 and 9.
The solvent of the cleaning concentrate is generally water. However, mixtures of water and other solvents such as lower alcohols or acetone can also be used.
According to the invention, solutions obtained by moderate dilution of the concentrates described above can also be used, the addition of diluent, usually water, amounting to no more than three times the amount by weight of the original concentrate. Such solutions are intended to be included in the term concentrate so long as the surfactant content is within the range of the present invention.
Die Auftragsmenge liegt bevorzugt im Bereich von 10-200 g/m2.The cleaning agent is applied in a thin film-like layer to the surface of the processed workpiece to be cleaned. All known methods are suitable for this, for example using rollers, pads, brushes and the like. The cleaning agent is preferably sprayed on, in which case all known devices can also be used, for example single-component pressure nozzles, turbulence nozzles, pneumatic nozzles (airbrush), ultrasonic nebulizers. The amount applied is preferably in the range of 10-200 g/m 2 .
The temperature of the workpiece to be cleaned is preferably in the range of room temperature, for example between 10 and 35°C. In this temperature range, the exposure time is expediently at least 2 seconds, preferably 3 to 60 seconds. In individual cases, the exposure time can vary depending on the type and amount of dirt to be removed be determined. Although the feasibility of the invention would not be restricted thereby, it is not intended that the solvent, usually water, evaporates completely from the layer of the cleaning agent during the exposure time.
In order to enable the cleaning agent to be applied reliably and evenly to the surface of the workpiece, the workpiece can be moved, in particular rotated, relative to the application device. Alternatively or additionally, the application device can also be moved relative to the workpiece, for example on a closed path around the workpiece. It is also possible to provide several application devices working simultaneously.
If excess cleaning concentrate runs off the workpiece during application, it can be returned to the application device. Therefore, in the method according to the invention, the consumption of cleaning concentrate, which has to be disposed of via the waste water, is minimal.
It is expedient to carry out the application in a treatment chamber, in particular a largely closed chamber or a chamber which is only open at the top. The treatment chamber can be equipped with collection means for returning the cleaning concentrate.
After the exposure time has elapsed, the surface of the workpiece to be cleaned is treated with a steam jet. In the process, both the cleaning agent applied and the contaminants are at least partially, preferably completely, removed from the surface. Part of the steam condenses on the surface, dilutes the applied cleaner concentrate and is removed from the surface by the mechanical action of the steam jet. This cleaning step produces only small amounts of liquid waste.
The steam jet used according to the invention can be generated in the usual way by a nozzle device. Preferably, the nozzle is heated to prevent premature condensation of the vapor. The nozzle device can be adapted to the respective geometry of the workpiece and can have, for example, a single nozzle with a circular, elliptical, triangular or square opening or also a linear or circular arrangement of several such individual nozzles, for example.
Dampf bedeutet hier Wasserdampf. Steam here means water vapour. The steam jet preferably consists of superheated steam, particularly preferably dry steam. Here, superheated steam means steam whose temperature is higher than the boiling point at the prevailing pressure, dry steam means steam whose temperature is close to but not below the boiling point. The steam jet particularly preferably has a temperature of at least 120.degree. More preferably, the volume fraction of steam in the steam jet is at least 0.9, preferably 0.95, the remainder being generally air. The above information relates in particular to a measurement of the steam jet directly at the nozzle outlet.
The treatment time with the steam jet also depends on the type and amount of contamination. A steam jet time of at least 3 seconds, preferably 10-30 seconds, has proven itself.
It is also expedient to carry out the steam blasting in a treatment chamber, in particular a largely closed chamber or a chamber which is only open at the top. This can be different from the chamber for applying the cleaner concentrate to increase the cycle time, or it can be identical to the chamber to simplify the system.
In continuous production plants, it is advisable to adapt the exposure time of the cleaning concentrate and the duration of the steam jet to each other and to the cycle time of the production line. For example, these times can each be equal to the cycle time or a multiple of it.
In order to enable the workpiece to be cleaned uniformly, it can be advantageous to let the steam jet act on the workpiece from different directions at the same time or one after the other. For this purpose, the workpiece can be moved, for example rotated, relative to the nozzle device. Alternatively or additionally, the nozzle device can be moved relative to the workpiece, for example on a closed path around the workpiece. Several nozzle devices working simultaneously or one after the other can also be provided.
Although in many cases sufficient cleaning can be achieved by treatment with the steam jet, it may be advantageous to provide a further step after steam jet cleaning, rinsing the cleaned surface with a solvent, e.g wisely with water or a mixture of water and volatile solvents such as methyl or ethyl alcohol or acetone. The rinsing can be done, for example, by immersing the workpiece in the solvent, with a gush or by spraying on the solvent. After treatment with the steam jet or after rinsing, the workpiece can be dried, for example by means of a warm air flow.
The method according to the invention is suitable for cleaning workpieces made of metal, in particular made of iron alloys such as iron, steel, stainless steel and aluminum and its alloys.
Compared to the known methods, it offers the advantage that it can be carried out easily and inexpensively, that it can be easily integrated into the cycle of an automatic production and that only minimal amounts of waste water requiring treatment are produced. In addition, the amount of cleaning concentrate required and thus the cost of disposing of cleaning concentrate is reduced overall.
The invention also includes a system for carrying out the cleaning method according to the invention. This system includes an arrangement with at least one treatment chamber for coating the workpiece with cleaning concentrate and for treating it with the steam jet, as well as means for conveying the workpiece into the treatment chamber of the system. These means are preferably suitable for conveying into the possibly further treatment chambers and out of the last treatment chamber or the system.
A separate, second treatment chamber may be provided to carry out the coating of the workpiece with cleaning concentrate separately from the treatment with the steam jet. The first treatment chamber is provided with at least one application device for the cleaning agent and, if necessary, the second treatment chamber is provided with at least one steam jet device. Further treatment chambers can also be provided for rinsing and drying the workpiece.
If two separate treatment chambers are provided, the time of conveyance from the first to the second treatment chamber can be used as exposure time in order to reduce the cycle time. At the same time, cleaning concentrate can be applied to another workpiece during steam blasting in order to further shorten the cycle.
Dampfstrahls verlaufenden Achse. The means for conveying the workpiece can include at least one industrial robot with a gripper arm, the movement of which can be controlled by a computer according to a predetermined program. The gripping arm is set up in such a way that it can transfer the workpiece from a feed or also a processing station into the first treatment chamber, into the second treatment chamber and from there into further treatment chambers and/or into an output station. The gripping arm can be equipped with a rotary head, by means of which the workpiece can be rotated in the treatment chamber, for example about an axis perpendicular to the direction of a spray jet or steam jet.
The application device preferably comprises one or more spray or atomizing nozzles, which are advantageously attached close to the wall and directed into the interior of the chamber. However, it can also include brushes, brushes or rollers, to which the cleaning agent is supplied, for example by dripping.
To supply the application device in the first treatment chamber, for example, a pump can be provided which conveys the cleaner concentrate from a storage vessel to the application device. The first treatment chamber can be provided with a drain that drains excess detergent concentrate and, if necessary, leads it back to the pump in the circuit.
The treatment chambers can be provided with means for generating an air flow and for separating aerosols from this air flow. This can prevent annoying or dangerous liquid mist from getting into the workplace air.
A shield in the form of a cover can also be provided on the means for conveying the workpiece, in particular on the robot, which at least partially covers the upper sides of the treatment chambers in order to protect against splashes and liquid mist.

The
The
In the
