In contrast, the method with the features of claim 1 has the advantage that the driver of the motor vehicle is displayed with which object the collision will occur, and that also a collision warning can occur at standstill of the motor vehicle, if in the starting process of the motor vehicle, a collision threatening. For this purpose, the following steps are performed. First, at least one object in the vicinity of the motor vehicle is detected. Subsequently, the speed and the steering angle of the motor vehicle is determined and checked whether a risk of collision with the object due to Speed and the steering angle and stored dimensions of the motor vehicle is present. If there is a risk of a collision with the object, checking the risk of collision with the object is therefore positive, the collision information is displayed in the field of view. This is done by means of the display means. In this case, the collision information comprises at least one contact-analogous identification of the object. The head-up display means may cause an indication on a windshield, a rear window, a side window and / or a rearview mirror. The field of vision of the driver is thus the area on which he usually pays attention when driving the motor vehicle. So he is not distracted from the traffic.
The display means supports contact analogous tagging of the object. In this case, contact analog means that the information which is displayed by means of the display means is adapted to the environment of the motor vehicle or embedded in the latter from the perspective of the driver. The field of vision of the driver is thus overlaid in the sense of an augmented reality representation with virtual information. In this way, for example, different objects in the field of vision of the driver can be highlighted or marked and thus made identifiable for the driver of the motor vehicle. Thus, additional information is not simply displayed but aligned with the objects present in the vicinity of the motor vehicle. For this purpose, the object and its position relative to the motor vehicle is detected. In addition, a head position of the driver or a position of the eyes can be detected or estimated in order to be able to position the objects more precisely with the information in the field of vision of the driver. The collision information comprises at least the identification of the object. In the driver's field of vision, therefore, the environment is overlaid with the information in such a way that the object is made recognizable to the driver. For example, an outline of the object can be provided. Alternatively, the object can also be overlaid with a warning symbol. In this way, the driver of the motor vehicle immediately recognizes whether the risk of collision exists, and with which object the collision threatens. By determining the speed and steering angle of the motor vehicle and evaluating it to check the risk of collision with the object, the collision information can also be output when the motor vehicle is at a standstill, for example if the collision threatens when the motor vehicle starts up. In this way, the driver is made aware that he must change the steering angle before starting to avoid the collision with the object.
A development of the invention provides that, in addition to the speed and the steering angle, a position of the motor vehicle is determined by means of a navigation unit. Normally, the position determination of the motor vehicle can be made more accurately solely on the basis of the speed and the steering angle than by means of the navigation unit, which operates, for example, satellite-based. Thus, it is also advantageous to initially only use these variables to check the risk of collision. However, a further improvement of the accuracy of the position determination can be achieved by additionally detecting the position with the navigation unit. Thus, the determined speed, the steering angle and data of the navigation unit should be used for determining the position. Thus, not only is there a relative position of the motor vehicle, as with the exclusive use of speed and steering angle, but an absolute, which is provided by the navigation unit and specified by means of speed and steering angle.
A development of the invention provides that the steering angle is provided via a bus system of the motor vehicle. In today's motor vehicles, the steering angle is usually made available to other applications via the bus system, so that the collision warning method according to the invention can also easily access the steering angle. To implement the method, therefore, only one connection to the bus system must be provided so that the data transmitted via this data can be evaluated. The speed of the motor vehicle can be made available in this way.
A further development of the invention provides that the detection of the object takes place by means of optical, acoustic and / or electromagnetic sensors. The sensors are provided on the motor vehicle. An example of optical sensors is a video system which has image recognition means which recognize objects by means of image recognition algorithms in recorded video images and determine their position relative to the motor vehicle. The information about the object or the objects can also be transmitted via the bus system. As an alternative or in addition to the optical systems, acoustic (sonar) or electromagnetic (radar) sensors are also possible. A combination of such sensors can be used. It is particularly advantageous if sensors already present on the motor vehicle are evaluated for this purpose, for example sensors of a parking assistance system.
A development of the invention provides that, in addition to the fading-in of the collision information, an acoustic and / or further visual indication to the driver is generated. If there is a risk of collision, the driver should be made aware of this acoustically. For example, a warning sound is generated for this purpose. Also, the further visual indication may be provided for additional warning of the driver. This may, for example, consist of a fading in of a warning symbol in the field of vision of the driver.
A further development of the invention provides that the highlighting takes place by at least partially surrounding the object. It can be provided that the object is completely bordered by a line, that is to say an edge of the object is present. Alternatively, however, only a part of the object can be surrounded. For example, the object can be bordered on the side on which the risk of collision with the motor vehicle exists. However, it is also possible to highlight by coloring the object. For the bordering or coloring of the object, a conspicuous color is preferably provided, for example red. In order to ensure that the driver is made aware of the object or the existing danger of collision, the color and / or an intensity of the highlighting can be chosen to be alternating in time. For example, the border of the object may be performed at intervals, that is pulsating.
A development of the invention provides that in the highlighting areas of the object are marked, for which there is the risk of collision with the motor vehicle. This is particularly useful for large objects, for which the driver can not detect at first glance, which area of the object could possibly touch the vehicle. The emphasis thus takes place in such a way that the driver of the motor vehicle is made aware of the prospective contact area with the motor vehicle. For example, this area of the object can be bordered or colored separately. In particular, it is intended to emphasize the entire object with a low intensity, while the area with which the risk of collision exists is highlighted with high intensity.
A further development of the invention provides that the collision information additionally comprises a representation of the motor vehicle in which areas of the motor vehicle are marked for which there is the danger of collision with the object. In the field of view of the driver so an additional information is displayed, which represents the motor vehicle. This presentation should not be contact-analogous. In this representation of the motor vehicle, that region of the motor vehicle is shown highlighted, for which there is the danger of collision with the object. Thus, the driver of the motor vehicle can recognize at a glance which area of the motor vehicle is endangered by the object and initiate suitable countermeasures.
The invention further relates to a collision warning device of a motor vehicle, in particular for carrying out the method according to the preceding embodiments, wherein a head-up display means for inserting information in a field of view of a driver of the motor vehicle and sensors for detecting at least one object in an environment of the motor vehicle are provided. In this case, the collision warning device is designed to determine the speed and steering angle of the motor vehicle, to check a risk of collision with the object due to the speed and the steering angle and stored dimensions of the motor vehicle and collision information in the field of view by means of the display means with positive checking the risk of collision with the Object overlay, wherein the collision information comprises at least one contact-analog highlighting of the object. In order to reliably determine the risk of collision with the object, the dimensions of the motor vehicle must therefore be stored in the collision warning device. In this way it can be determined which area of the motor vehicle is affected by the risk of collision. The collision warning device is advantageously connected to the bus system of the motor vehicle, for example a CAN bus. In this way, the collision warning device can be provided in a simple manner information such as the speed and the steering angle of the motor vehicle. A connection to the sensors is possible in this way, so that the collision warning device gets the information about the object in the environment of the motor vehicle provided and not determined itself.
A development of the invention provides that the display means is provided for inserting the information on a windshield, a rear window, a side window and / or a rearview mirror of the motor vehicle. In this case, the display means is always designed such that the contact analog representation of information can be performed. In order to further improve the quality of the presentation, for example, means for detecting a head or an eye position of the driver may be provided. These positions can be used to better match the contact analog representation of the information to the environment of the motor vehicle or the object, so that a precise overlay of the environment with the means of Display means is provided represented information. The display means can be provided everywhere, where a head-up representation is possible or necessary. This can be provided in each region of the motor vehicle, in which the driver perceives the surroundings of the motor vehicle and a projection screen for fading in the information is present. In particular, so all discs (windscreen, rear window, side window) are suitable. Also in the rearview mirror of the motor vehicle, the display means may be formed. In this way, the driver of the motor vehicle all around the collision information can be provided.
