Abstract
Es wird eine antistatische Beschichtung aus einem schichtförmigen anorganischen Xerogel beschrieben, das in homogener Verteilung ein oder mehrere Alkalisalze von Polyelektrolyten enthält. Das Material kann zur antistatischen Ausrüstung von Kunststoffen, vorzugsweise von Polymerfolien, und Materialien aus natürlichen und künstlichen Fasern eingesetzt werden.
Description
Die Erfindung betrifft eine antistatische Beschichtung zur an
tistatischen Ausrüstung insbesondere von Kunststoffen, vor
zugsweise von Polymerfolien, und, Materialien aus natürlichen
und künstlichen Fasern, und Verfahren zur Herstellung der Be
schichtung.
Es ist bekannt, dass viele Kunststoff- und Textilgegenstände
mit geringer elektrischer Leitfähigkeit durch Kontaktreibung
stark elektrostatisch aufgeladen werden, wodurch die
Gebrauchswerteigenschaften erheblich beeinträchtigt werden
(z. B. Aneinanderkleben von Folien und Geweben, ggf. Verblit
zungen beim Trennen, Anziehen und Fixieren von Staub). Zur Re
duzierung der elektrostatischen Aufladung bei modernen Kunst
stoff- und Textilgegenständen ist bekannt, diese mit einer
leitfähigen Beschichtung zu versehen (antistatische Ausrüs
tung). Die Behandlung erfolgt bisher vorrangig durch Impräg
nieren mit grenzflächenaktiven Stoffen, z. B. mit Polyglykol
ethern von Fettalkoholen oder Alkylphenolen, Alkylsulfaten
bzw. -phosphaten oder quartären Ammoniumsalzen. Die Mehrzahl
der genannten Stoffe wirkt dadurch, dass auf den zu schützen
den Gegenständen ein hydrophiler Überzug erzeugt wird, der die
elektrischen Ladungen ableitet.
Die genannten hydrophilen Überzüge haben den Nachteil, dass
sie nicht feuchtigkeits- bzw. waschfest sind, wodurch ihre An
wendbarkeit erheblich eingeschänkt wird. Zur Überwindung die
ses Problems gibt es unterschiedliche Lösungswege:
- a) Einbau elektrisch leitender Fasern in textile Gewebe bzw. Zusatz elektrisch leitender Partikel (Ruß) zu Kunststoffen,
- b) Beschichtung mit feuchtigkeitsstabilen Schichtbildnern, die antistatisch wirkende Substanzen enthalten.
Während der erste Weg (a) nicht universell anwendbar ist, bie
tet der zweite Weg (b) die Möglichkeit einer universellen
Nachrüstung beliebiger polymerer bzw. textiler Gegenstände.
Als geeignete Beschichtungen werden z. B. Polymerschichten, die
nichtionische Netzmittel und Metallsalze enthalten, vorge
schlagen (US 5145602, 5173214) bzw. Möglichkeiten gezeigt, an
tistatische Wirksubstanzen in epoxidhaltigen Bindemitteln
durch Härtungsmittel (z. B. Aziridine) zu vernetzen (US 5079136,
US 5104779). Jedoch haben organische polymere Bindemittel den
Nachteil, dass sie in den hier vorgeschlagenen Strukturen
schlecht leitend sind und dadurch die antistatische Wirkung
mindern. Es gibt darum Bemühungen, schichtförmige anorganische
Gele zur antistatischen Ausrüstung zu nutzen, z. B. durch den
Einsatz wässriger SiO2/SnO2-Sole (FR 2710628), durch SiO2-Sole
in Alkylacetat/Alkohol-Lösungen (GB 787941) sowie durch wäss
rige Dispersionen aus elektrisch leitenden Polymer mit kolloi
den SiO2-Partikeln (WO 0074074).
Ungeachtet der Haftprobleme, die bei Beschichtung von Poly
mer- und Textilgegenständen durch wässrige Dispersionen auf
treten, wird der antistatische Effekt in den genannten Fällen
vorrangig durch das Ableiten der elektrischen Ladungen durch
die rauhe Partikelstruktur erreicht. Aufgrund der Rauhigkeit
und damit verbundenen lichtstreuenden Wirkung und geringen me
chanischen Stabilität sind derartige Systeme nur begrenzt ein
setzbar.
Die Aufgabe der Erfindung ist es, eine verbesserte antistati
sche Beschichtung zu entwickeln, mit der die Nachteile her
kömmlicher Techniken überwunden werden und die insbesondere
universell einsetzbar ist, eine gute Haftung auf Kunststoff-
und Textilgegenständen zeigt und hochtransparent ist.
Diese Aufgabe wird mit der Beschichtung und dem Verfahren ge
mäß den Patentansprüchen 1 und 7 gelöst. Vorteilhafte Ausfüh
rungsformen der Erfindung ergeben sich aus den abhängigen An
sprüchen.
Eine erfindungsgemäße Beschichtungszusammensetzung umfasst ein
schichtförmiges anorganisches Xerogel, das in homogener Ver
teilung ein oder mehrere Alkalisalze von Polyelektrolyten ent
hält. Durch diese Zusammensetzung ist es möglich, eine perma
nente antistatische Wirkung von schichtförmigen anorganischen
Gelen durch die Immobilisierung der leicht wasserlöslichen po
lyanionischen Salze zu erreichen, um damit Feuchtigkeits- und
Waschstabilität der Gelschichten mit einer permanenten anti
statischen Wirkung zu kombinieren. Die vorteilhaften antista
tischen Eigenschaften der leicht wasserlöslichen polyanioni
schen Salze werden mit den vorteilhaften mechanischen und was
serstabilen Eigenschaften der anorganischen Gelschichten ver
bunden.
Überraschenderweise konnte die Aufgabe erfindungsgemäß insbe
sondere dadurch gelöst werden, dass eine wässrig-alkoholische
Lösung der Alkalisalze spezieller polyanionischer Verbindungen
mit einem verdünnten wässrigalkoholischen sauren Sol, das Na
nopartikel aus SiO2, R-SiOn, R2SiOn (R = H, Alkyl, Aryl, Epoxy
alkyl, Aminoalkyl und n = 1.5 oder 1) Al2O3, TiO2 oder deren
Gemischen enthält, gemischt und sofort auf einen Träger aufge
tragen, geliert und getrocknet wird, wodurch anorganische Xe
rogelschichten gebildet werden, die in homogener Verteilung
ein oder mehrere Alkalisalze von Polyelektrolyten enthalten
und einen hohen antistatischen Effekt zeigen.
Gegenstand der Erfindung ist auch ein Verfahren zur Herstel
lung einer antistatische Beschichtung bestehend aus einem ei
nem schichtförmigen anorganischen Xerogel, das in homogener
Verteilung ein oder mehrere Alkalisalze von Polyelektrolyten
enthält.
Als anorganischer Xerogel können Metalloxide wie SiO2, R-SiOn,
R2SiOn, Al2O3, TiO2 oder deren Gemische verwendet werden, wobei
R = H, Alkyl, Aryl, Epoxy-alkyl, Aminoalkyl und n = 1.5 oder 1
sein kann. Die Xerogele werden aus den entsprechenden Nanoso
len durch einen Sol-Gel-Prozeß (vgl. J. C. Brinker, G. W. Scherer,
Sol-Gel Science, Academic Press, London 1990) nach folgendem
Schema (Beispiel SiO2-Schichten) hergestellt:
Für die Herstellung der antistatischen Xerogel-Schichten wer
den vorzugsweise Nanosole verwendet, die durch saure Hydrolyse
der entsprechenden Precursoren (Silicium- oder Metallalkoxyde,
-halogenide bzw. Metallsalze wie Acetate, Nitrate) in wässrig
alkoholischer Lösung hergestellt werden. Die sauren, alkohol
haltigen Nanosole haben den Vorteil, dass sie sehr glatte, gut
haftende transparente Filme bilden.
Falls durch die AP-Zugabe der pH-Wert und darum die Gelbil
dungstendenz in der Begußlösung steigt, ist für die Herstel
lung der erfindungsgemäßen antistatischen Xerogelschichten be
vorzugt, Nanosol und AP erst unmittelbar vor dem Beguß zu mi
schen, um die Standzeit der Begußlösung zu minimieren und ein
vorzeitiges Gelieren zu verhindern.
Als Polyelektrolyt eignen sich prinzipiell alle polyanionische
Verbindungen. Bezüglich Systemverträglichkeit und antistati
scher Wirkung erweisen sich jedoch Alkalisalze der Polystyren
sulfonsäure, Polyvinylsulfonsäure und Cellulosesulfonsäure in
Anteilen von 5-50 Gew.-% im Feststoff als besonders geeig
net. Untersuchungen zum Einfluß des Molgewichtes am Beispiel
der Polystyrensulfonate ergaben einen optimalen Bereich bei
mittleren Molmassen im Bereich 8000-15000.
Zur Verbesserung des Schichtbildungsverhaltens und der
Schichthaftung insbesondere bei der Beschichtung von Polymer
folien ist es neben einer Corona- bzw. Plasmavorbehandlung der
Folie möglich, der Begußlösung nichtionische lösliche Polyme
re, vorzugsweise Cellulose-Derivate, Polyalkylenglykole und
deren Derivate, hydroxyterminierte Poly(dimethylsiloxane) oder
natürliche Polymere wie Gelatine oder Naturharze wie Kolopho
nium bis zu 30 Gew.-% bezogen auf den Gesamtfeststoffgehalt
zuzusetzen.
Die antistatische Beschichtung kann zur antistatischen Ausrüs
tung beliebiger hochisolierender Materialien, vorzugsweise von
Kunststoffe, vorzugsweise von Polymerfolien, und Materialien
aus natürlichen und künstlichen Fasern eingesetzt werden.
Das Verfahren zur Herstellung der antistatische Beschichtungen
gemäß dem obigen Schema erfolgt durch folgende Schritte:
- 1. Herstellung eines anorganischen Nanosols, welches die Be standteile SiO2, R-SiOn, R2SiOn, Al2O3, TiO2 oder deren Gemische enthält, durch saure Hydrolyse der entsprechenden Silicium- und/oder Metallalkoxide in einem wässrigen, organischen oder gemischten Lösungsmittel, ggf. unter Zusatz gelöster nichtio nischer Polymerer, durch mehrstündiges Rühren bei Raumtempera tur,
- 2. Zumischung einer 2-10%-igen wässrigen oder wässrig alkoholischen Lösung eines oder mehrerer Alkalisalze von Poly elektrolyten unmittelbar vor der Beschichtung
- 3. sofortiges Beschichten der Mischung auf einen Träger, der ggf. durch Corona- oder Plasmavorbehandlung aktiviert wurde, durch übliche Beschichtungstechniken wie Begießen, Tauchen, Aufschleudern, Streichen, und Gelierung des Sols durch Aufkon zentration infolge Verdampfen des Lösungsmittels
- 4. Trocknen der Schicht durch vollständiges Verdampfen des Lösungsmittels an der Luft und Verfestigung durch anschließen des Erwärmen auf maximal 100°C.
Die so erhaltenen antistatischen Beschichtungen zeigen eine
gute mechanische Schichtqualität, und eine gute Haftung auf un
terschiedlichen Kunststoff- und Textilgegenständen. Sie sind
hochtransparent ist und weisen eine gute antistatische Wirkung
bei gleichzeitig hoher Auswaschstabilität auf.
Die erfindungsgemäße Beschichtung ist universell einsetzbar
und eignet sich besonders zur antistatischen Ausrüstung von
Kunststoffen und Textilien.
50 ml Tetraethoxysilan, 200 ml Ethanol und 100 ml 0,01 n zuge
tropfte Salzsäure werden 20 Std. bei Raumtemperatur gerührt.
Das resultierende Sol hat einen SiO2-Gehalt von ca. 4 Gew-%
in ca. 70% Alkohol.
50 ml Tetraethoxysilan, 210 ml 96% Ethanol und 10 ml 0,01 n zu
getropfte Salzsäure werden 20 Std. bei Raumtemperatur gerührt.
Das resultierende Sol hat einen SiO2-Gehalt von ca. 5 Gew-%
in Alkohol.
100 ml Nanosol werden mit einem bestimmten Volumen gelöster
Alkalisalze von Polyelektrolyten (AP, vgl. Tabelle 1) in 50%
Ethanol gemischt und durch Tauchbeschichtung (30 cm/min) bzw.
Rakelbeguß auf PVC-Folie (Oberflächenwiderstand R < 1013 Ohm)
aufgetragen. Die transparente Beschichtung wird 30 min an der
Luft und 1 h bei 40°C getrocknet.
Zur Prüfung der antistatischen Wirkung wird die Oberflächen
leitfähigkeit gemessen (Ro), anschließend wird zur Prüfung der
Auswaschbeständigkeit die Schicht mit einem nassen Schwamm ab
gewischt und nach Trocknung erneut vermessen (Rw)
Claims (10)
1. Antistatische Beschichtung, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
auf einem Trägermaterial ein schichtförmiges anorganisches Xe
rogel aufgebracht ist, das in homogener Verteilung ein oder
mehrere Alkalisalze von Polyelektrolyten enthält.
2. Antistatische Beschichtung gemäß Anspruch 1, bei der als
anorganisches Xerogel SiO2, R-SiOn, R2SiOn, Al2O3, TiO2 oder de
ren Gemische verwendet werden, wobei R = H, Alkyl, Aryl, Epo
xy-alkyl oder Aminoalkyl und n = 1.5 oder 1 ist.
3. Antistatische Beschichtung gemäß Anspruch 1 oder 2, bei der
als Polyelektrolyt Alkalisalze der Polystyrensulfonsäure, Po
lyvinylsulfonsäure oder Cellulosesulfonsäure in Anteilen von
5-50 Gew.-% im Feststoff verwendet werden.
4. Antistatische Beschichtung gemäß einem der vorhergehenden
Ansprüche, bei der zur Verbesserung des Schichtbildungsverhal
tens und der Schichthaftung das anorganische Xerogel nichtio
nische lösliche Polymere, insbesondere Cellulose-Derivate, Po
lyalkylenglykole und deren Derivate, hydroxyterminierte Po
ly(dimethylsiloxane) oder natürliche Polymere wie Gelatine
oder Naturharze, bis zu 30 Gew.-% im Feststoff enthalten sind.
5. Antistatische Beschichtung gemäß einem der vorhergehenden
Ansprüche, bei der als Träger Kunststoffe oder Materialien aus
natürlichen und künstlichen Fasern verwendet werden.
6. Antistatische Beschichtung gemäß Anspruch 5, bei der als
Träger Polymerfolien verwendet werden und die Beschichtung zur
antistatischen Ausrüstung der Polymerfolien angewendet wird.
7. Verfahren zur Herstellung einer antistatischen Beschichtun
gen gemäß einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, gekennzeichnet
durch folgende Schritte:
- 1. Herstellung eines anorganischen Nanosols, welches die Be standteile SiO2, R-SiOn, R2SiOn, Al2O3, TiO2 oder deren Gemische enthält, durch saure Hydrolyse der entsprechenden Silicium- und/oder Metallalkoxide in einem wässrigen, organischen oder gemischten Lösungsmittel,
- 2. Zumischung einer 2-10%-igen wässrigen oder wässrig alkoholischen Lösung eines oder mehrerer Alkalisalze von Poly elektrolyten unmittelbar vor der Beschichtung,
- 3. Beschichten der Mischung auf einen Träger und Gelierung des Sols,
- 4. Trocknen der Schicht durch Verdampfen des Lösungsmittels an Luft.
8. Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 7, bei dem die Herstellung des an
organischen Nanosols unter Zusatz gelöster nichtionischer Po
lymerer erfolgt.
9. Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 7 oder 8, bei dem bei Schritt (4)
eine Verfestigung der Beschichtung durch Erwärmen auf maximal
100°C erfolgt.
10. Verwendung von Alkalisalzen von Polyelektrolyten zur Her
stellung antistatisch wirkender Beschichtungen.
