Description
The invention relates to a process for recovering the base of photographic films, which is used in the photographic industry for the processing of unusable, originally silver halide-containing materials.
It is known to work up coated film waste or developed old films and to recycle the materials recovered in the process, such as polyester or cellulose triacetate and silver.
In DE-OS 2336724 a process for the recovery of polyester substrate from polyester film waste with at least one layer of a macromolecular hydrophobic polymer and photographic emulsion layers is described. To remove the photographic emulsion layers, 6 washing and rinsing processes are carried out:
- Waschen mit Wasser, das eine klein". Menge Schwefelsäure enthält, bei etwa 90°C,Washing with water containing a small amount of sulfuric acid at about 90 ° C,
- Spülen mit großen Wassermengen, bis der pH-Wert des Waschwassers neutral ist,Rinse with large volumes of water until the pH of the wash water is neutral,
- Waschen mit Wasser, das Natriumthiosulfat enthält,- washing with water containing sodium thiosulphate,
- Spülen mit reinem Wasser,- rinse with pure water,
- Waschen mit Wasser, das Natriumhydroxid enthält,Washing with water containing sodium hydroxide,
- Spülen mit reinem Wasser.- Rinse with pure water.
Thereafter, to remove the remaining primer layer or layers, the treatment with chlorinated hydrocarbons with the addition of alcohols. The disadvantage is that for the complete removal of the primer layers organic solvents must be used, which complicate the recovery process including the necessary plant and security technology. For the economic design of this recovery process, it is necessary to provide process steps for working up the solvents used. In addition, this recovery process is limited to polyester-based film waste. Cellulose triacetate can not be recovered because cellulose triacetate is dissolved by chlorinated hydrocarbons.
Also, DE-OS 2357977 describes a process for delamination of developed or undeveloped polyester-based photographic films. The film material is wetted with an aqueous, alkaline liquid reagent and alkylene glycol at about 100-170 0 C to remove impurities or coatings from the polyester film carrier. This method is only applicable to polyester material for the removal of adhesive and auxiliary layers.
In GB-PS 1134967 ei,) is claimed analogous recovery process for polyester material, which is also not suitable for the recovery of cellulose triacetate by the use of strong bases.
Wegen Verwendung von Natronlauge ist dieses Verfahren für Filmabfälle auf Zellulosetriacetatbasis nicht geeignet.DE-OS 2748051 describes a method and an apparatus for treating a photographic film, wherein the film is passed through a wetting tank containing water and wetting agent before drying. The aim of this procedure is to promote the drying of the water from the film base layer in a subsequent dryer. However, with this procedure it is not possible »to influence the actual washing-up process. U.S. Patent 3,647,422 describes a process for recovering silver, polyester and amino acids from developed films whose ends are bonded together to achieve continuous operation. A roller transport system transports the material through pickling baths which contain sodium hydroxide to hydrolyze the gelatine layers contained on the carrier material. Removal of the gelatin layers from the polyester support material is assisted by treating the surface with counter-rotating rollers or wipers. Subsequently, the coated polyester support material is thoroughly washed in hot water, dried, and crushed sufficiently to be automatically fed to a polyester fuser. Because of the use of caustic soda solution, this process is not suitable for cellulose triacetate-based film wastes.
A process for the removal of the adhesive layer of photographic polycarbonate films with a dilute aqueous solution of surfactants and / or carboxylic acids, hydroxycarboxylic acids or their salts is described in DE-OS 1422813. Such an operation is possible only if the adhesive layer contains organic synthetic polymers or copolymers.
In DE-OS 2,900,542, the removal of a waxy backing layer, which was applied to the carrier material for better sliding, with organic solvents such as methyl, ethyl, propyl and butyl acetate, butyl propionate, cyclohexanol, diethylene glycol monoacetate, and with Te η si, such as alkylbenzenesulfonates, sorbitan sesquiolates, sorbitan monolauric acid, described. This process can not be used for the recovery of cellulose triacetate when organic solvents are used, but when surfactants are used this method is only applicable when the waxy ingredients are not incorporated in a layer.
In FR-PS 1425385 potassium permanganate is used to remove gelatin layers of cellulose triacetate films. Of great disadvantage, however, is that when using potassium permanganate a significant environmental impact is recorded by manganese-containing wastewater.
Ziel der ErfindungObject of the invention
The aim of the invention is a process for recovering the backing of photographic films, so that they can be reused as a high quality raw material for film production.
Darlegung des Wesens der ErfindungExplanation of the essence of the invention
The object of the invention is to provide a process for the recovery of the support of photographic films containing dissolved in high-boiling solvents, hydrophobic agents in finely divided form.
The object-solving process for recovering the support of photographic films containing in at least one layer in high-boiling solvents hydrophobic agents, by degradation of the gelatin-containing layers with ferments, rinsing and drying is that after fermentative degradation of the gelatinhaltigen, photographic Layer separates the liquid phase and at least one washing process at 40 to 8O 0 C with an aqueous, softened solution of 0.5 to 10g / l anionic and / or nonionic surfactant and 0.5 to 5g / l oxidizing agent performs. Surprisingly, it has been found that a softened water washing process containing a surfactant and an oxidizing agent is sufficient to completely remove the oily components of the photosensitive layers to be removed.
ölige Bestandteile sind hochsiedende organische Lösungsmittel, wie Dibutylphthalat, Trikresylphosphat, Triphenylphosphat, Tributylphosphat, Laurinsäurodiethylamid, die optische Aufheller, UV-Absorber, Sensibilisatoren, Filterfarbstoffe, Klarhalter, Antioxidantien, Antischleiermittel, Antiausbleichmittel und in der Hauptsache hydrophobe Farbkuppler gelöst enthalten.Oily ingredients include high boiling organic solvents such as dibutyl phthalate, tricresyl phosphate, triphenyl phosphate, tributyl phosphate, lauric acid diethylamide, optical brighteners, UV absorbers, sensitizers, filter dyes, clear coaters, antioxidants, antifoggants, anti-fading agents and, most importantly, hydrophobic color couplers.
Gleichzeitig werden Reste der Haftschicht entfernt. At the same time, residues of the adhesive layer are removed.
As anionic surfactants are particularly suitable sodium alkylsulfonates, as nonionic surfactants n- and iso-alkylphenolpoly (oxyethylene) and n- and iso-alkylpoly (oxyethylene) having 4 to 1 β-oxyethylene groups, wherein the alkyl groups contain from 4 to 18 carbon atoms. It is also possible to use derivatives of several surfactants.
Besonders günstig Ist es, als Oxidationsmittel Wasserstoffperoxid, Alkaliperoxiborate, Peroxiessigsäure und Alkaliperoxicarbonate einzusetzen. It is particularly favorable to use hydrogen peroxide, alkali peroxiborates, peroxyacetic acid and alkali peroxycarbonates as the oxidizing agent.
An improvement in the washing effect in the removal of the oily high boiler / hydrophobben substance mixture occurs when the water used for the approach of the washing solution before with calcium ion binding agents, eg. As ion exchangers, was softened or if the washing solution calcium complexing agents are added.
In order to keep the temperature during the washing process as low as possible, and especially in the processing of hardened, long-term stored film materials, the addition of an activator is low. Excellent for this is 1,5-N-diacety 1-2,4 · dioxohexahydrotriazine in a concentration of 0.3 to 4 g / l.
It has also been found that in the work-up of highly hardened materials, where the gelatin molecules are interlaced in the layers to the extent that they are no longer degradable by enzymes, addition of a mild surface attack agent is suitable for the layers from the substrate separate.
In this case, it is advantageous to add to the wash solution containing surfactant, oxidizing agent and activator 0.1 to 1 g / l of a dihydric phenol, preferably resorcinol.
It has been found that in the temperature range between 40 and 80 ° C of the surfactant and oxidizing agent-containing water bath, the removal of the oily high-mix, including the water-insoluble color coupler and the remnants of the adhesive layer most advantageously expires, the exposure time of the wash solution on the film waste 0.5 to 5 Hours. The ratio 1: 3 has proven to be the most favorable mass ratio of film wastes to washing solution, the tenside concentration preferably being 2 g / l of washing water and the amount of oxidizing agent being 2 g / l of washing water.
Cellulosetrlacetatunterlage treated by the process according to the invention is obtained pure after further rinsing and drying processes and can be fed directly to a reuse. While in most accumulating waste film an inventive washing process after fermentative degradation is sufficient to wash the oily components of the degraded layers, for materials with highly hardened layers 2 to 3 washing processes are required. With the method according to the invention, the backing of very highly cured films without oily components, where the layers are not completely removed by fermentative degradation alone, can be recovered.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren zur Rückgewinnung der Unterlage von fotografischen Filmen beinhaltet folgende Stufen:The method of recovering the base of photographic films according to the invention comprises the following stages:
- Zerkleinerung der beschichteten Abfälle aus unbrauchbaren fotografischen Filmen In bekannter Weise in eine Schnitzelform von annähernd einheitlicher Größe- Shredding the coated waste from unusable photographic films In a known manner into a Schnitzel form of approximately uniform size
- Transportieren des vorliegenden voluminösen Haufwerkes in eine Wascheinrichtung- Transporting the present voluminous heap in a washing device
- Waschen der Filmschnitzel mit Wasser im Verhältnis Feststoff zu Waschlösung 1:3 unter Zugabe eines Fermentes, beispielsweise Protease, bis zur völligen Entfernung der fotografischen Schichten- Washing the film chips with water in the ratio solid to washing solution 1: 3 with the addition of a ferment, such as protease, until complete removal of the photographic layers
- Ablassen der Waschlösung und mindestens einmaliges Spülen- Draining the washing solution and rinsing at least once
- Aufbereitung von Waschwasser zum Zwecke der Enthärtung durch Ionenaustauscher oder durch Zugabe von kalziumionenbindenden Agenzien- Treatment of wash water for the purpose of softening by ion exchange or by the addition of calcium ion binding agents
- Zuführung des enthärteten Wassers zu den Filmschnitzeln und Zugabe von Tensid und Oxidationsmittel- Supply of the softened water to the film chips and addition of surfactant and oxidizing agent
- Waschen bei 40 bis 80°C, Prüfung auf Reinheit der Schnitzel und gegebenenfalls Fortsetzung des Waschprozesses unter Zugabe von Oxidationsmittel und Aktivator- Washing at 40 to 80 ° C, checking for purity of the chips and optionally continue the washing process with the addition of oxidizing agent and activator
- Ablassen der Waschlösung und mindestens einmaliges Spülen- Draining the washing solution and rinsing at least once
- mechanisches Entwässern- mechanical dewatering
- thermische Trocknung.- thermal drying.
The main advantage of the process according to the invention is that cellulose triacetate support can also be used again for unusable photographic films made of raw material for the production of their masters. With the method according to the invention a high purity is ensured without a chemical change of the substrate is recorded. Furthermore, it is ensured that even for a long time stored films with highly hardened photographic layers and stored in high boilers hydrophobic agents at short wash times, the pad is recovered. The method is also applicable to the recovery of the backing of film wastes which do not contain hydrophobic agents but which, because of their gelatin hardening by storage for a long time, can not be separated from their coating clay by conventional methods. In the recovery process, largely commercially available auxiliaries are used, which or their reaction products in the recovery process do not cause environmental pollution.
Mit der Entfernung der Rückschichten.1000 kg half a year stored waste film containing in the cured photographic layers in high-boiling hydrophobic agents are shredded by means of cutting granulators in a Schnitzel form with an average chip surface of 150mm 2 and fed to a washing device. 3m 3 of water at 50 ° C and 1 kg of protease (minimum activity 0.5 tyrosine units) are added to these cuttings. By means of circulating stirrer, the film chips are held in suspension during the washing process until complete removal of the photographically active layers. After a washing time of a maximum of 1 hour, the washing solution is drained off. Add fresh water and check the schnitzel at least three times. With the removal of the backing layers.
The chips are supplied for the following washing process 3 m 3 of water with a maximum hardness of 0.1 ° d and a temperature of 60 0 C. 5.5 kg of sodium pentadecylsulfonate, 1.5 kg of n-alkyl-poly (oxetylene) and β kg of sodium peroxiborate are added to the wash water. The chips are left to rise by stirring. The chips are rinsed with water at least three times, they are free from gelatine and residual hydrophobic agents. The chips are centrifuged and then dried in a stream of hot air at 130 ° C.
