Abstract

Αποκαλύπτονται σύμπλοκα συντονισμού μαγγανίου με χρησιμότητα ως ανιχνευτές στην τομογραφία μαγνητικού συντονισμού και ως βιολογικοί αναγωγικοί αισθητήρες. Σε μία υλοποίηση, τα προσδέματα είναι δυνατόν να σταθεροποιήσουν και τις δύο καταστάσεις οξείδωσης Μn2+ και Μn3+. Παρουσία ενός αναγωγικού παράγοντα όπως η γλουταθειόνη, η χαμηλή ενίσχυση του σήματος MnIII-ΗΒΕΤ μετατρέπεται ταχέως σε υψηλή ενίσχυση του σήματος MnII-ΗΒΕΤ με τριπλάσια αύξηση της χαλαρότητας και ταυτόχρονη αύξηση του σήματος μαγνητικού συντονισμού. Σε μια άλλη υλοποίηση, τα προσδέματα σχεδιάστηκαν για να χηλικοποιούν το Mn(ll) με θερμοδυναμικά σταθερό και κινητικά αδρανή τρόπο επιτρέποντας παράλληλα την άμεση αλληλεπίδραση του Mn(ll) με το νερό. Σε άλλη ακόμη υλοποίηση, παρασκευάστηκαν πολυμερή υψηλού μοριακού βάρους που περιείχαν έξι χηλικοποιητές Mn(ll). To υψηλό μοριακό βάρος οδηγεί σε βραδύτερη κύλιση των μορίων στο διάλυμα και μπορεί να ενισχύσει έντονα το σήμα του Mn(ll).
