Abstract
Un método para tratar una solución de ácido sulfúrico conteniendo cobre para producir una solución de sulfato de cobre purificado, para electro extraer cobre de la misma, en la cual el selenio contenido en ella es sacado de la solución que contiene tales impurezas como hierro, selenio, y por lo menos otra impureza capaz de ser precipitada con el hierro, que comprende, ajustar el pH de dicha solución de cobre ácido a un nivel de por lo menos alrededor de 3 y aereando dicha solución para precipitar dicho hierro como Fe(OH)3 y dicha otra impureza por lo menos, permaneciendo dicho selenio en solución, filtrar dichas impurezas precipitadas de dicha solución, y entonces someter dicha solución a reducción por presión con S02 a una temperatura de alrededor de 110 grados C a 170grados C y a una presión de alrededor de 10 a 100 ppc norma para extraer substancialmente todo dicho selenio de la solución como Cu2Se junto con algún cobre metálico, formando con ello una solución de cobre purificado con el precipitado de Cu2Se-Cu formando un residuo que es separado de la solución más adelante
