Abstract
The proposed method involves the addn. of artificial and/or natural adsorbent material to the waste-water in the reactor. This material is at least partially saturated with cpds. resulting from the protein-disaccharide maillards-reaction and with disaccharide. For example, activated carbon could be used as the artificial and zeolite as a natural adsorbents. - The adsorbent material additive is used to increase the retention of microbes thus increasing the intensity of the clean-up process. The liq.-microbe mixt. discharged from the reactor is subjected to a phase-sepn. process. The liq. phase is de-gassed using reduced pressure and film flow, and subjected to a post-settling process. The sludge obtd. is recirculated into the reactor. - The proposed equipment comprises a tank which contains the reactor, settling and liq. collection spaces. The settling space is formed by parallel plates which slant downwards and are offset with respect to each other. Each pair of plates forms an enclosure. A post-settler and a degasser also form part of the equipment.
