Abstract

In the proposed method effluent water is treated by pre-settling in the usual way, pre-separation by floatation to reduce the treatment plant load, aeration, followed by aerobic digestion in a basin over biologically active membranes. The resulting effluent water and the sludge obtained from the various plant sections are activated by aeration in a floatation unit. Finally the effluent water is routed to a clarifier where it is passed through a suspended later of active aerobic sludge. - Principle components of the equipment are as follows:-pre-conditioner which reduces the pollutant load and initiates decomposition. Aerobic digester basin containing a parallel plate system, activator unit and reactor with a floating sludge bed. In the proposed method, pre-treatment is followed by contact with discs, having beyond the usual biological membrane, active, aerobic sludge, which is always regenerated. Further, the effluent is contacted with a biological fill in the form of a floating layer of active sludge.
