Abstract
La presente invención se refiere, en parte, al apilamiento de toxinas CrylBe junto con toxinas CrylFa para evitar que los insectos desarrollen resistencia hacia cualquiera de las dos toxinas por sí misma. Según lo descrito en forma más detallada en esta invención, el par de proteínas de la presente invención es una combinación particularmente ventajosa, ya que no se conoce ningún otro par de proteínas que proporcione niveles elevados de control y actividad de resistencia no cruzada contra insectos Spodoptera frugiperda (FAW, siglas correspondientes a gusano cogollero)) y Ostrinia nubilalis (ECB (taladrador europeo del maíz)). Esta doble actividad de resistencia no cruzada es también ventajosa ya que puede reducir el número de proteínas/genes necesarios para apuntar hacia estos insectos con múltiples proteínas de resistencia no cruzada. Esto puede reducir o eliminar la necesidad de áreas en acres de refugio. Por consiguiente, la presente invención se refiere, además, en general, al uso de cuatro genes par proporcionar tres proteínas para el control de la resistencia no cruzada de un primer insecto, y tres proteínas para el control de la resistencia no cruzada de un segundo insecto. En realizaciones preferidas, los insectos objetivos son el gusano cogollero (FAW) y el taladrador europeo del maíz (ECB).
