Abstract
Un procedimiento hidrometalúrgico para larecuperación de níquel y cobalto mediante la lixiviación intensiva de minerales, concentrados o productos intermedios que comprenden la etapas siguientes: a. El material, que es mena niquelifera que contiene de 0,5 a 3,0% de níquel, de 0,005% a 1,5% de cobalto y de 10 a 55% de hierro, se somete a un proceso de reducción selectiva a una temperatura entre 540 y 850°C utilizando un agente reductor. b. El material que puede ser un producto intermedio o concentrado de níquel y cobalto, donde los metales presentes (Ni y Co) son solubles son solubles en soluciones amoniacales y no requieren la reducción previa.c. El mineral reducido se enfría en presencia de gases reductores o inertes.d. El mineral reducido o el producto intermedio o concentrado de níquel y cobalto se pone en contacto con una solución carbonato amoniacal de tal manera que la temperatura de la pulpa no sea superior a 60°C.e. La pulpa se lixivia en un reactor tubular al cual se le inyecta aire u oxígeno durante un tiempo de lixiviación entre 5 segundos y 15 minutos con una alta absorción de oxígeno.f. La pulpa se enfría en el reactor tubular, alcanzando solamente un aumento de temperatura de 1 a 6 grados celsius.
