Abstract
1516161 Treating Mn-containing ores KENNECOTT COPPER CORP 10 June 1975 [13 June 1974] 24744/75 Heading C1A Manganese-containing ores are treated to recover Cu, Ni, Co and/or Mo values by flowing it through a plurality of reaction vessels maintained at 35-55C and containing aqs. NH 3 /(NH 4 ) 2 CO 3 solution and cuprous ions which are oxidized to Cu<SP>++</SP> ions by the manganese oxides in the ore so that the metal values can be solubilized in the solution, the cuprous ion concentration being maintained at above 2g.l<SP>-1</SP> by reacting the Cu<SP>++</SP> ions with gaseous CO, preferably at a pressure of 50-100 psig.
