Abstract
1515704 Recovering metal values KENNECOTT COPPER CORP 30 May 1975 [3 June 1974] 23575/75 Heading C1A One or more of the metal values Cu, Ni, Co and Mo are recovered from an Mn-containing ore by (a) leaching the ore with an aqueous ammoniacal ammonium carbonate leach solution containing cuprous ions which reduce manganese oxides in the ore to enable one or more metal values to be solubilized in the solution, (b) continuously regenerating the cuprous ions in the solution by a reducing gas (e.g. CO), (c) recovering a portion of the solubilized metal values as a mixed metal carbonate precipitate, and (d) recycling the mixed metal carbonate back to the leach solution to increase the solubilized Cu copper therein.
