Abstract
Procedimiento para producir hierro esponjoso por reduccióndirecta de material que contiene óxido de hierro, en el cual gas de síntesis, preferentemente gas natural reformado, se mezcla con gas de cabeza que se forma en la reducción directa del material que contiene óxido de hierro y siendo empleado como gas reductor que contiene CO- y H2- para la reducción directa y para el calentamiento del material que contiene óxido de hierro a la temperatura de reducción, caracterizado por la combinación de las siguientes etapas operativas: - utilizar para la reducción además del gas reductor un gas que contiene carbono tal como gas natural o un gas que contiene hidrocarburos de mayor número de átomos de carbono; - exponer al material que contiene óxido de hierro al gas reductor y al gas que contiene carbono alimentado adicionalmente durante un período predeterminado que excede al período necesario para la reducción completa: y - ajustar en el gas reductor una razón CO/CO2 comprendida entre 2 y 5, preferentemente en una razón que excede 2,5.
