Abstract

Se describe un método y un aparato ultrasónico para cambiarintermitentemente una condición de una pieza de trabajo. El sistema ultrasónico y un rodillo de yunque giratorio colocados para formar una relación cerrada uno con otro comprendiendo un punto de sujeción. Uno del cuerno ultrasónico y del rodillo de yunque giratorio incluye una superficie radial exterior teniendo una primera longitud teniendo una primera cantidad de área de superficie por longitud de unidad de la superficie radial exterior respectiva, y una segunda longitud teniendo una cantidad menor de área de superficie por longitud de unidad de la superficie radial exterior respectiva. Cuando la energía ultrasónica es aplicada al cuerno ultrasónico, la segunda longitud cambia a una condición de la pieza de trabajo cuando se aplica en el punto de sujeción, pero la primera longitud no cambia esa condición. El cambio en condición ocurre debido a que la disminución en el área de superficie a lo largo de la segunda longitud aumenta la energía ultrasónica por área de unidad, como se aplica en el punto de sujeción, a por lo menos la cantidad de umbral necesaria para cambiar la condición. Los cambios en la condición de la pieza de trabajo incluyen el unir juntas dos o más capas de material, cortar una o más capas de material, o similares. Varios patrones y diseños pueden proporcionarse en la superficie radial exterior de trabajo del cuerno ultrasónico y/o del rodillo de yunque giratorio, para procesar la pieza de trabajo. En una modalidad, una primera longitud discreta de un patrón se repite múltiples veces en una rotación única del rodillo de yunque o del cuerno ultrasónico con las segundas longitudes discretas respectivas entre los mismos. En otra modalidad, el rodillo de yunque o el cuerno ultrasónico incluyen las partes laterales opuestas sobre cualesquier lado de la región central en donde la región central incluye el patrón y por tanto el área de superficie reducida. ...
