Abstract

本实用新型揭示一种高密度电连接器,其与插头对接连接器配合以连接两块印制电路板,其包括:绝缘本体、固定装置及收容于绝缘本体内的导电端子。绝缘本体包括底面、侧壁和若干收容通道,侧壁的顶部比侧壁的其它部分要厚。固定装置收容于绝缘本体,其包括若干收容通道。各个导电端子包括主体部及自主体部延伸的端子臂和扣持部,端子臂延伸于固定装置的收容通道。该高密度电连接器能有效地使导电端子在对接过程中保持其良好排列。

高密度电连接器
【技术领域】
本实用新型是关于一种电连接器,尤其是关于一种低构型高密度电连接器。
【技术背景】
数据处理和通信系统电子设备的传输速率和传输品质越来越高,对其所用电连接器的设计提出了更高要求,特别是,对于具有更高密度和引脚数的电连接器要求考虑由端子间距离减小而产生的种种问题。当然,高密度不应该以牺牲电连接器的电气和机械性能作为代价。
在设计低构型高密度电连接器时,所面临的困难在于保持对接连接器的端子部分的恰当的排列以保证可靠的电气连接。2000年3月28日公告的美国专利第6,042,389号、2000年7月公布的第6,093,035号、2002年10月公布的第6,471,526号及2003年5月公布的第6,558,170号揭示了几种高密度、高速度的板对板连接器。这些连接器分别有一个插座和一个插头。插座包括插座绝缘本体和插座端子,与第一块电路板相连的插座端子收容于插座绝缘本体,而插头包括了插头绝缘本体和插头端子,与第二块电路板相连的插头端子收容于插头绝缘本体,插头端子与插座端子配合以建立电气连接。然而,上述设计没有解决在对接过程中端子保持恰当排列的问题,提供特殊的改进结构以保证从第一块电路板到第二块电路板可靠的电气连接。
随着数据处理和通信系统小型化的不断要求,高密度低配合高度的电连接器在应用中所产生的另一个问题就是如果使用不当,微小脆弱的导电端子元件容易损坏。2000年10月29日公布的美国专利第6,471,526号和2003年5月6号公布的第6,558,170号揭示了位于绝缘本体收容通道内的双臂端子,这个双臂端子的上臂与尾部弹性相连。上臂包括连结部和向外分支的引导部。当插头和插座对接时,插头端子的上臂与插座端子的上臂弹性对接,插头端子收容至插座端子的向外分支的引导部。但是在上述结构中,插座端子的上臂自插座对接面以上延伸相对过长。当与插座对接时,插座端子容易产生变形。另一方面,过长的延伸部使得插头端子与插座端子很难良好排列,从而影响它们之间的所建立电气连接的可靠性。如果其中一个或者多个插座端子位置不正,其相应的插头端子容易对接不当。
因此,需要设计一种具有良好端子稳定性的低构型高密度电连接器。
【实用新型内容】
本实用新型所要解决的技术问题就是提供一种高密度电连接器,其端子的正确固定方式有助于保证和对接插头的正确对接。
为解决上述技术问题,本实用新型所设计的高密度电连接器包括:绝缘本体、固定装置及一系列局部收容于绝缘本体内的导电端子。绝缘本体设有若干收容导电端子的收容通道,并且绝缘本体侧壁的上缘的厚度要比侧壁其它部分厚。收容于绝缘本体的固定装置,其设有若干与绝缘本体收容通道相对应的收容通道,每个收容通道内设有卡持壁。每个导电端子包括主体部分、由主体部向上延伸的一对端子臂和主体部向下延伸的扣持部。导电端子的端子臂跨骑于卡持壁上,并在固定装置的收容通道进行延伸。
相对于现有技术,本实用新型高密度电连接器具有如下功效:在固定装置的收容通道内设置有固持壁,导电端子跨骑于固持壁上,这样在对接过程中导电端子保持良好的正确排列及稳定性。

【具体实施方式】
参阅图1至图3所示,本实用新型高密度电连接器1包括绝缘本体2、收容于绝缘本体2的若干导电端子3和收容于绝缘本体2的可分离固定装置4。绝缘本体2包括:基部20、从基部20的外围向上延伸的四个侧壁21和及由基部20与侧壁21围成并收容固定装4的收容空间22。基座20包括下安装表面201、上收容表面202、收容通道203。安装面201与印制电路板(未图示)相接。收容面202与安装表面201平行相对,且与固定装置4相接。收容通道203从安装表面201延伸穿过基体20到收容表面202。收容通道203按行列进行分布用以收容相对应的导电端子3。为简化说明,本图只示意出了少许收容通道203和一个导电端子3。
参阅图4至图6所示,导电端子3收容于绝缘本体2相应的收容通道203内。高密度电连接器1导电端子3包括:方形的主体部31、从主体部31的上端向上延伸的一对端子臂32和主体部下端的扣持部33。扣持部33用于与焊锡球(未图示)相连,从而将高密度电连接器1导电端子3焊接至印制电路板的导电片上。主体部31包括与一对端子臂连接的中间部分311和固持部312,固持部312的两侧有倒钩或凸缘(未标示),每个端子臂32有一个接触部321。在此种结构中,主体部31局部收容于绝缘本体2收容通道203,其顶部向上延伸高出收容面202。
参阅图7,结合图2和图3所示,固定装置4包括位于上表面的对接面40、位于外围的凸缘43和若干收容通道41。固定装置4的收容通道41设有开至对接面40的方形孔410。每个收容通道41还设有一个卡持壁42,其在与端子3插入的方向垂直延伸。卡持壁42上设有一个垂直凹槽420。各端子3跨骑在卡持壁42上。特别是端子主体部31的局部延伸入收容通道41,端子臂32所在平面与卡持壁42相垂直。导电端子3的接触部321延伸高于对接面40。固定装置4外围的凸缘43对接入绝缘本体2上的凹槽204中,以确保固定装置4进入绝缘本体2。
参阅图8到图10,结合图1和图2所示,绝缘本体2的侧壁21从底部到顶部的厚度不相同。在本实用新型中,侧壁21的顶部比其它部分更厚,导电端子3在与对接插头电连接器9导电端子(未标示)配合过程中,导电端子3经历最小幅度的水平移动。换句话说,当两个连接器对接时,结合部终点P1将有效防止导电端子受损坏(相对于图10所示电连接器绝缘本体2的接合部终点P2而言,图10中所示的电连接器绝缘本体的侧壁厚度一样)。因此,当这两个连接器以任意角度对接(也就是说,一端完全对接,而另一端未对接好)或是分离时,本实用新型给端子以保护。
在本实用新型中,利用绝缘本体2和固定装置4相结合来固定导电端子3。在其它实施方式中,也可以将固定装置4和绝缘本体2做成一体构成绝缘本体,同样可以达到本实用新型之目的。

Claims (10)

1.一种高密度电连接器,其包括:绝缘本体和收容于绝缘本体的若干导电端子,所述绝缘本体包含若干收容通道;各导电端子包括收容于绝缘本体收容通道的主体部和由主体部向上延伸的一对端子臂,其特征在于:在绝缘本体中收容着固定装置,其包含有若干与绝缘本体相对应的固定装置收容通道,导电端子的端子臂收容于固定装置的收容通道。
2.如权利要求1所述的高密度电连接器,其特征在于:所述固定装置的各个收容通道设有卡持壁,所述导电端子跨骑于卡持壁上,其端子臂部分在固定装置收容通道内延伸。
3.如权利要求1所述的高密度电连接器,其特征在于:所述固定装置在其外围有若干凸缘,所述绝缘本体上设置有收容所述凸缘的凹槽以确保固定装置在绝缘本体中收容良好。
4.如权利要求1所述的高密度电连接器,其特征在于:所述固定装置包括与对接连接器接触的对接面,所述收容通道设有开向对接表面的方形开孔。
5.如权利要求2所述的高密度电连接器,其特征在于:所述各个卡持壁上设有用于固定端子的凹槽。
6.如权利要求2所述的高密度电连接器,其特征在于:所述各个卡持壁在与所述端子插入方向的垂直方向延伸。
7.如权利要求2所述的高密度电连接器,其特征在于:所述卡持壁将固定装置的部分收容通道分成收容两端子臂的两收容通道。
8.如权利要求1所述的高密度电连接器,其特征在于:所述各个端子包括主体部、从主体部延伸的一对端子臂和从主体部另一方向延伸的尾部,每个端子的主体部有固持部将。
9.如权利要求1所述的高密度电连接器,其特征在于:所述固定装置可以与所述绝缘本体制成一体构成绝缘本体。
10.如权利要求1至9中任一权利要求所述的高密度电连接器,其特征在于:所述绝缘本体包括基部、基部四周延伸的侧壁及基部与侧壁共同围成收容所述固定装置的收容空间,其中侧壁的顶部比侧壁的其它部分要更厚。
