Abstract

本实用新型公开了一种电连接器,其包括沿纵长方向设置有若干收容腔的绝缘本体及分别收容于绝缘本体各收容腔内的若干组端子。若干组端子沿绝缘本体的横向(Y)布置成两排,每一组端子至少包括两个并排设置并收容于沿X方向布置的相应的收容腔内的导电端子,每一端子是经冲压制成并组装于绝缘本体上,其在X方向上的尺寸(T)远小于其在Y方向上的尺寸(W),从而减少端子于X方向所占的空间而其强度并未降低。

【技术领域】
本实用新型涉及一种电连接器,尤指一种在其本体的一个收容腔中可提供多个接触点的电连接器,从而使得第一电路板上的同一接触垫与第二电路板上的对应接触垫形成电性导通。
【背景技术】
在具有多排端子的电连接器中,每一端子是单独位于一收容腔内并同时与母板及子板上一对相应的导电片电性连接。在高速传输的产品中,为实现电连接器端子与母板及子板上的导电片之间可靠的电性内连接,每一端子均需要设置多个接触臂并均与母板或子板上的同一导电片电性接触,从而于导电端子与同一导电片之间建立多个电性接触点,当这些接触臂与导电片分离时,导电端子仍可通过其它接触臂与导电片保持接触。对于高密度及高速电连接器来说,如:相邻两端子间距小于0.5毫米且信号传输速度大于1.0Gigabyte/second的电连接器,其端子排布的方向上并不具有多于之空间以设置若干个接触臂。美国专利第5,823.823号及第6,206,713号均揭示了一种于绝缘本体的同一收容腔内收容有两个导电端子的电连接器,收容于同一收容腔内的两个导电端子间隔一定距离且通过绝缘部连接在一起。但是,其并未揭示该两个导电端子可同时与电路板上的同一导电片接触的功能,且就单个端子而言,也并未解决上面所述的端子结构受空间限制的问题。
【发明内容】
本实用新型的目的在于提供一种电连接器,于该电连接器的绝缘本体的一个收容腔内具有多个端子,且位于一个收容腔内的这些导电端子可与第一电路板上的同一导电片及第二电路板上的同一导电片接触,通过该种多点接触的方式,使得电连接器的端子在有限的空间内,确保电性传输的正常运作。
为实现上述目的,本实用新型采用如下技术方案:电连接器包括沿纵长方向设置有若干收容腔的绝缘本体及分别收容于绝缘本体各收容腔内的若干端子。每一端子是经冲压并组装于绝缘本体上,其在纵向的尺寸远小于其在横向上的尺寸,通过此减少端子所占横向空间而其强度并未降低。每一导电端子均具有一可与外界第一导电元件相接触的接合部及一可与外界第二导电元件相接触的安装部;绝缘本体的每一收容腔均至少收容有两个以上的导电端子,位于同一收容腔内的导电端子沿绝缘本体的纵长方向排布,这些端子的接合部可与同一第一导电元件相接触,而其安装部则可与同一第二导电元件相接触,通过该多点接触,提高这些导电端子、第一导电元件、第二导电元件之间电性连接的可靠性。
相较于现有技术,本实用新型通过在同一收容腔中收容有至少两个导电端子,当同一收容腔内的某一导电端子与第一导电元件或第二导电元件之间的电性连接中断时,电连接器还可以通过另一导电端子达成第一导电元件与第二导电元件之间的电性连接,从而提高导电端子、第一导电元件、第二导电元件之间电性连接的可靠性。

【具体实施方式】
请参阅图1所示,本实用新型电连接器1包括绝缘本体10、若干收容于绝缘本体10内的导电端子12及若干固持于本体内的扣件14。绝缘本体具有顶面16、与顶面16相对的底面18、一狭槽20及若干端子收容腔22。收容腔22与狭槽20相连通。绝缘本体10的底部26上沿纵长方向即X方向(如图2、3及5中标示的X方向)设置有若干孔24,扣件14安装并收容于这些孔24内。每一导电端子12均具有一凸伸入绝缘本体10的狭槽20内并与子板32上的第一导电片30电性连接的接合部28,子板的端缘34收容于狭槽20内。每一导电端子12进一步具有向下延伸出绝缘本体10底面18并与母板40上的第二导电片38电性连接的安装部36。母板40上具有若干开口42,若干开口42的周壁上具有焊接片43,开口与绝缘本体10上的孔24相对齐,从而使得扣件14可准确的安装到开口42内。
请参阅图2及图3所示,每一收容腔22均收容有两个沿X方向并排布置的两个导电端子12。两个导电端子12彼此接触导通。两个导电端子12的接合部28及安装部36是位于同一收容腔22内并均与子板32上的第一导电片30及母板40上的第二导电片38电性连接。该结构于导电端子12、第一导电片30及第二导电片38之间提供了多点接触。因此,即使导电端子12中的某一端子未与导电片30/38可靠接触,另一导电端子仍可与导电片30/38可靠接触,从而提高了导电端子12、第一导电片30及第二导电片38之间电性连接的可靠性。
请参阅图4及图5所示,每一扣件14均具有一安装于绝缘本体10上的固持部44及收容于母板40的开口42上的尾部46。尾部46具有两个可适当弯曲并与开口42上的焊接片43相抵接的分支48,从而使得扣件14固持在母板40上。根据需要还可将焊接片43附加到开口42内使得扣件14更加可靠的固持在开口42内。导电端子12沿绝缘本体10的横向即Y方向排成两排。扣件14沿X方向排布并位于两排端子12之间,且扣件14的布置未超出每一排端子的两端。每一安装至绝缘本体10上的扣件14在X方向的尺寸大于其在Y方向上的尺寸。
请参阅图6所示,导电端子12在金属料带50上是沿垂直于其成形的方向彼此间隔,其沿W方向的宽度尺寸大于其厚度即沿T方向的尺寸。厚度“T”是由金属料带50的厚度决定,而宽度“W”是由冲压模具决定。厚度“T”可以很小,使其于X方向上占用较少空间,在相邻两收容腔22的距离一定的情况下使得单独的一个收容腔22可收容两个或更多的导电端子12。为获得良好的连接及导电性能,可在导电端子12的接合部28及子板32的导电片38上使用金等导电材料。
在本实用新型的第二实施例中,导电端子可由导线制成,导线可弯折成需要的形状并安装到绝缘本体中。多点电性接触的方式可应用于板至板连接器、线缆连接器、板片格栅数组连接器以及其它具有配合装置需多点接触的电连接器上。

Claims (8)

1.一种电连接器,包括有若干导电端子和绝缘本体,若干导电端子各具有一可与外界第一导电元件相接触的接合部及一可与外界第二导电元件相接触的安装部;绝缘本体包括有若干收容腔,其特征在于:每一收容腔均至少收容有两个导电端子,位于同一收容腔内的导电端子沿绝缘本体的纵长方向排布,这些端子的接合部可与同一第一导电元件相接触,而其安装部则可与同一第二导电元件相接触,通过这种多点接触的方式,提高导电端子、第一导电元件、第二导电元件之间电性连接的可靠性。
2.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:导电端子延伸出绝缘本体的下表面,以增加整个电连接器的高度。
3.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:位于同一收容腔中的导电端子相互连接。
4.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:位于同一收容腔中的导电端子彼此导通。
5.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:每一导电端子均是由金属料带冲制成个体。
6.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:导电端子是由导线制成。
7.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:绝缘本体具有一与收容腔相贯通的狭槽,导电端子的接合部延伸入上述狭槽并在狭槽内与第一导电元件电性连接。
8.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:导电端子的安装部延伸出绝缘本体的表面以与第二导电元件电性接触。
