Abstract

一种电连接器包括绝缘本体、收容在绝缘本体内的若干端子、设置在绝缘本体上的接地端子及包覆在绝缘本体外围的遮蔽壳体。上述接地端子包括前端接合部及后端部;遮蔽壳体包括前、后遮蔽壳体,该后遮蔽壳体包括固持突部、开设在每一侧壁前端的前开槽、向下延伸的接脚及设置在后遮蔽壳体的侧壁面并与接地端子后端部的侧壁面偏位设置的弹性接脚。经由接地端子、弹性接脚及接脚,在对接连接器与印刷电路板之间形成一接地路径。

Description

电连接器
本实用新型关于一种电连接器,尤其是一种具有后遮蔽壳体的电连接器。
SCA-2(Single Connector Attachment)连接器可以在SCSI(SmallComputer System Interface)硬盘驱动器、光驱、GBIC(Gigabit InterfaceConverter)模块及背板系统之间提供一种标准界面,SCA-2型电连接器依据由small form factor委员会制定的SFF标准。该电连接器可被分成三种类型,分别为20针脚、40针脚及80针脚的SCA-2型电连接器。20针脚的SCA-2型电连接器和GBIC模块一起被用作光纤通道的模块化界面媒质;40针脚的SCA-2型电连接器被用以与3.5寸光驱相配接;80针脚的SCA-2型电连接器被用以与3.5寸SCSI硬式磁盘驱动器相配接。
随着电信号高速传输的需求日益增加,电连接器的屏蔽及接地能力变得越来越重要,屏蔽及接地通常用来防止电磁干扰及用来释放静电。
另外,因为现有SCA-2型电连接器仅能屏遮端子的前部,而端子后面的尾部则暴露出来,其绝缘本体内的端子并不能被完全屏遮。因此,为克服现有技术的不足,需在连接器的后部附加遮蔽壳体。
本实用新型的目的在于提供一种具有后遮蔽壳体的电连接器,该电连接器具有接地机构,可通过该接地机构及后遮蔽壳体在对接连接器与印刷电路板之间形成一接地路径,从而提高信号传输品质。
本实用新型电连接器包括具基部的绝缘本体、若干端子、接地端子及遮蔽壳体。其中绝缘本体的基部上设有若干端子通道,并具有前、后端面,前述若干端子便收容在该端子通道中。前述接地端子及用以遮蔽端子的遮蔽壳体也固持在绝缘本体上,且每一接地端子前端具有前端接合部,而后端具有后端部,该前端接合部向前凸伸并超过基部的前端面,用以与对接连接器相导接,而后端部向后凸伸并超过基部的后端面。该遮蔽壳体至少包括一遮蔽表面及由表面延伸的接脚,该接脚与印刷电路板上的接地路径相连接。该遮蔽壳体还具有弹性接脚,且该弹性接脚与前述接地端子的后端部相导接,因此经由接地端子、弹性接脚及接脚可在对接连接器与印刷电路板之间建立一条接地路径。由于采用上述构造,本实用新型电连接器具有防止电磁干扰及释放静电的功能。
下面结合附图及实施例对本实用新型作进一步描述。

请参阅图1及图2,本实用新型的SCA-2型电连接器1包括绝缘本体2、若干收容在绝缘本体2中的端子3、设置在绝缘本体2上的接地端子4及遮蔽壳体5。其中该遮蔽壳体5包括用以屏蔽电磁干扰的前、后遮蔽壳体50、52,本实施例中的SCA-2型电连接器1为被用作GBIC模块的20针脚的SCA-2型电连接器。
绝缘本体2具有基部20,其中该基部20向前延伸形成一对侧臂22,基部20自两侧臂22间的前端面202延伸形成配合部24,隔板26由基部20后端面204向后延伸而出,且在二隔板26间夹持有固持板28,该固持板28上设有若干端子插孔280,该端子插孔280分成四排交错排列(图5、图6参照)。前述基部20上进一步设有四个凹口206(图7参照),用以与后遮蔽壳体52相接合。若干端子通道208从基部20的后端面204延伸至配合部24。前述侧臂22内设有收容通道220,其可与对接连接器(未图示)对应位置的定位柱相接合,以防止误插。
一对上、下排列的凸块203分别设置在基部20后端面204的邻近隔板26处。突出部2 05由基部20的下部向后延伸而出,并介于凸块203与隔板26之间,每一隔板26朝向对应突出部205的外表面设有一凸台260。
端子3收容在绝缘本体2的端子通道208中,每一端子3前端具有一收容在配合部24中的前端接触部32、一固持在基部20上的固持部(未标号)及一插脚部34。该插脚部34经直角弯折后延伸穿过固持板28对应的端子插孔280,用以与定位SCA-2型电连接器1的印刷电路板(未图示)构成电性连接。端子3的前端接触部32与对应的对接连接器的端子(未图示)相匹配以构成电性连接,该插脚部34相互交错排成四排,并与固持板28上的端子插孔280相对应。
接地端子4的前端具有前端接合部42,用以与基部20相接合,且其前端延伸插入对应侧臂22的收容通道220中,用以与对接连接器的定位柱上设置的接地端子(未图示)相接合。中间部44由前端接合部42垂直延伸而出,并夹持在一对凸块203之间,以防止其上、下移动。
该接地端子4进一步设有一后端部46,其由中间部44垂直延伸而出,并与隔板26相平行,以插入印刷电路板中。由此,在端子3焊接前SCA-2型电连接器1可固持在印刷电路板对应位置上。前述后端部46具有倒钩460,用以与绝缘本体2的基部20相配合,一对扣爪462设在后端部46的自由端,并借助外力按压而插入印刷电路板对应的通孔(未图示)中。该后端部46夹置在两突出部205之间,并通过凸台260进一步限制其横向移动。
前遮蔽壳体50的遮蔽表面(未标号)包覆在绝缘本体2的配合部24上,用以保护端子3的前端接触部32及防止电磁干扰。为防止电磁干扰以提高信号传输质量,用一后遮蔽壳体52进一步遮蔽端子3后端经垂直弯折的插脚部34。该后遮蔽壳体52的遮蔽表面包括一向下与隔离板56相抵靠的顶壁54及一对相对的侧壁58。该侧壁58具有由顶壁54向下延伸而成的第一侧壁540及一由隔离板56向前延伸而成的第二侧壁580,且该第一侧壁540与第二侧壁580相互重叠。因此,该顶壁54与侧壁58之间没有开缝,从而确保该端子3的插脚部34完全得到遮蔽。
顶壁54及侧壁58的第二侧壁580的前端边缘对应凸伸有固持突部542、582,用以插入绝缘本体2对应的凹口206,每一固持突部542、582具有一刻槽的自由端5420、5820,以便其延伸穿过对应的凹口206。每一第二侧壁580设有一由其向后、向外延伸的弹性接脚584及一位于弹性接脚584下方的前开槽586。前述隔离板56具有两向下延伸出的接脚560,用以与印刷电路板上的接地路径相连接。
请参照图3至图9,该后遮蔽壳体52是从绝缘本体2的后部安装上去的,其前开槽586与对应凸台260收容配合,用以防止其沿纵向或向前移动(图4参照)。该弹性接脚584与接地端子4后端部46的内壁面呈偏位设置,用以与接地端子4之间构成电性连接。固持突部542、582插入绝缘本体2上对应的凹口206内,并使该固持突部542、582的自由端5420、5820的后缘与基部20的前端面202相卡接,用以防止该后遮蔽壳体52向后移动。因此,该后遮蔽壳体52可迅捷、稳固地安装在绝缘本体2上,且不需要任何其它固持装置,屏蔽效果也有明显提高。
当SCA-2型电连接器1与其对接连接器相连接时,由于接地端子4的前端接合部42比端子3长,故该接地端子4的前端接合部42在与对应的讯号端子构成电性连接之前,已先与对接连接器上对应的接地端子相连接。同理,当SCA-2型电连接器1与其对接连接器的连接断开时,其接地端子4的前端接合部42在与对接连接器的信号端子的连接断开后,方于对接连接器对应的接地端子脱离。因此,该SCA-2型电连接器1可以进行热插拔。当SCA-2型电连接器1间相互配合时,通过接地端子4可使该对接连接器的接地端子与印刷电路板建立起接地路径,该接地路径经由设置在后遮蔽壳体52上并与该接地端子4偏位设置的弹性接脚584,及与印刷电路板的接地线相连接的接脚560而形成。通过这种接地路径,电荷被有效地释放出去,从而提高信号传输品质。

Claims (11)

1.一种安装在印刷电路板上,并适合与对接连接器相连接的电连接器,包括具基部的绝缘本体,该基部上设有若干端子通道,并具有前、后端面,前述端子通道中收容有若干端子,前述绝缘本体上还固持有接地端子及用以遮蔽端子的遮蔽壳体,每一接地端子前端具有前端接合部,而后端具有后端部,该前端接合部向前凸伸并超过基部的前端面,用以与对接连接器相导接,而后端部向后凸伸并超过基部的后端面;该遮蔽壳体至少包括一遮蔽表面及由表面延伸的接脚,该接脚与印刷电路板上的接地路径相连接,其特征在于:遮蔽壳体还具有弹性接脚,且该弹性接脚与前述接地端子的后端部相导接,因此经由接地端子、弹性接脚及接脚可在对接连接器与印刷电路板之间建立一条接地路径。
2.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:接地端子的后部与绝缘本体基部的后端面位于同一垂直平面内。
3.如权利要求2所述的电连接器,其特征在于:遮蔽壳体的弹性接脚向外、向后延伸而出,并与对应接地端子后部侧壁内表面呈偏位设置。
4.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:接地端子为固持装置,且其后部具有扣爪,借助外力按压使其插入印刷电路板中。
5.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:遮蔽壳体进一步包括由顶壁向下延伸而出的隔离板,且前述接脚由隔离板向下延伸而出。
6.如权利要求5所述的电连接器,其特征在于:遮蔽壳体的每一侧壁具有由顶壁向下延伸出的第一侧壁及由隔离向前延伸出的第二侧壁,且该第二侧壁与第一侧壁相叠加,且前述弹性接脚由第二侧壁延伸而出。
7.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:该前端接合部与对接连接器对应的接地端子相配合。
8.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:该遮蔽表面包括项壁及侧壁。
9.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:该接脚由遮蔽表面向下延伸而出。
10.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:该弹性接脚设于后遮蔽壳体的侧壁上。
11.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:绝缘本体进一步包括由基部向前延伸且相对设置的侧臂,每一侧臂设有收容通道,用以收容配合连接器上对应的接地端子,其中该接地端子的前端接合收容在端子通道内。
