Abstract

技术领域
本发明涉及有助于通信电缆的安装并有助于已安装电缆的维护和修改的系统和方法。
背景技术
通信电缆的安装和已安装电缆的维护过程很复杂,特别是在必须安装或维护大量连接的时候。安装的精确性以及在通信系统使用寿命期间保持恰当连接都是很重要的。
发明内容
根据本发明的一个实施例,公开了一种为电缆连接的恰当安装给通信电缆安装者提供视觉线索的系统和方法。
根据本发明的另一个实施例,公开了一种为已安装电缆恰当修改给通信系统修改者提供视觉线索的系统和方法。
根据本发明的某些实施例,公开了通过通信插孔上的视觉指示器来提供电缆连接安装和修改线索。
根据本发明的另一个实施例,公开了通过便携PC或其他安装工具上的视觉指示器来提供电缆连接安装和修改线索。

虽然能够很容易地对本发明做出各种修改和形式变化,但是在此仍将详细描述以附图示意性形式示出的具体实施例。然而应该理解本发明并不限于公开的特定形式。而是本发明覆盖位于由所附权利要求限定的本发明精神和范围内的全部修改、等效和变化。
具体实施方式
现转向图1,示出了互连的电缆连接系统10。开关12经由网络连接(未示出)连接至其他网络组件并经由转接线(patch cord)16连接至转接板14。如图2所示(图1中环形“A”的详视图),转接板14包括多个有源转接板通信插孔18。水平电缆连接20将转接板14的有源通信插孔18连接至有源通信插孔22,其中插孔22所依次连接至诸如计算机或电话(未示出)的用户设备。示出的与本发明相关的有源插孔可以是2003年5月16日提交序列号为No.10/439,716的美国专利申请(律师编号61982-00005,标题为″Systems and Methods for Managing aNetwork″)中示出的那种有源插孔,其全文结合在此作为参考。
在图2中提供的有源插孔18具有诸如发光二极管(LED)的指示器24,在一个实施例中它发出的光朝向光导管26。光导管26依次从其两端28和30处发光,使得从有源插孔18的任一侧都能看到来自LED 24的光。有源插孔18接受转接线16的插头32。
现在转到图3,示出了交叉电缆连接系统34。开关12经由网络连接(未示出)连接至其他网络组件并经由转接线16连接至第一转接板36。第一转接板36通过转接线16依次连接第二转接板38。第二转接板38经由水平电缆连接20连接至有源通信插孔22。
现在转到图4,示出了通信安装和维护系统40,其中诸如便携个人计算机的安装辅助设备42在开关12处连接至通信网络。
根据本发明的某些实施例,有源插孔安装系统包括在网络目的地的有源转接板通信插孔18和有源通信插孔22,使用它们有助于文档编制系统、安装向导和监视系统以及修改向导和监视系统为通信系统电缆连接系统提供增加的安装、监视和修改功能。使用根据本发明的系统和方法可对扫描仪、硬接线的LED和其他资源,以及专用于某些安装、监视和修改系统的转接板的需要的替换。
根据本发明的系统内的有源插孔响应对其识别信息的查询,允许根据本发明的系统了解有源插孔所在的电路路径。因为根据本发明的有源插孔允许例如在物理安装插孔作为网络基础结构一部分的情况下存储物理位置信息,所以可为安装者或修改者提供关于特定电缆安装或修改步骤所需电缆长度的信息。
每个安装者和/或修改者都有连接至网络的安装辅助设备42(诸如图4所示的便携PC),以允许安装者和系统之间的双向通信。根据某些实施例,系统使用安装或修改指令将每个工作定单提供给告诉系统他何时开始以及何时完成工作定单的安装者或修改者。在某些实施例中,除非系统的网络文档编制同意安装或修改步骤已按定单完成,否则该系统将不接受完成。
根据本发明某些实施例的转接板被提供具有多个有源双绞线转接通信插孔(术语可称为“P型插孔转接板”),其中每个包括了LED的插孔可由响应于来自网络“命令消息”的有源插孔控制。如图2所示,最好从有源插孔的前侧和后侧都能看到LED。使用LED为安装者提供视觉安装和修改线索。一个LED代码的实例如下:

在此实例中,当正确完成安装或修改时,系统会通知此事并且直到安装者通过告诉系统他已经完成相关工作定单而将LED关闭,相关的LED将一直快速闪烁。
当不正确地完成安装或修改时,若假设存在一网络连接至相关有源插孔,系统就会通知整个问题并操作相关的LED。如果没有网络连接至相关的插孔,则系统将通信它所能导出的(例如经由安装辅助设备42)连接至网络的相关联的插孔的适当LED并对这些LED操作。
在互连或交叉连接应用中,都可由LED辅助从开关到转接板的电缆连接。当指示安装者将特定电缆从开关连接至转接板上特定插孔时,安装者就通知系统他开始该过程。如果根据以上概述的LED代码正确完成此过程,那么与所述转接板端口相关联的LED就一直快速闪烁直到安装者将其从他的PC(或其他安装辅助设备42)上关闭。
但若是安装者将错误的开关端口连接至正确的转接板插孔或将正确的开关端口连接至错误的转接板插孔,则在那个转接板端口上的LED慢速闪烁并且安装辅助设备42通知安装者关于问题的各种可能原因。除了电缆连接错误之外,还会在安装P型插孔时错误记录它的物理位置。当移除该连接时就熄灭LED灯。
在完成上述之后,如果如图3所示安装是交叉连接结构,那么就利用类似的过程指导每个转接线的安装。在此过程中,当安装者通知系统他开始这一过程时系统点亮转接板36上最接近开关12的合适LED。如果安装者正确完成此过程,那么转接板上合适的LED就快速闪烁直到安装者用他的安装辅助设备42关闭这些LED。
但若是转接线的一端连接至一错误端口,则系统就通知安装者该问题的各种可能来源,并且与该错误端口相关联的LED就慢速闪烁直到移除该转接线的一端。
但若是转接线的两端都连接至错误端口,则系统就通知安装者该问题的各种可能来源,并且与两个错误端口相关联的LED都慢速闪烁。在此情况下,安装者应该首先移除离开关最远的转接线连接,并且相关LED将熄灭。随后他应该移除转接线的其他连接并通知系统他已完成此事,并且其他的LED也将熄灭。
在完成上述之后,如果完成了至有源插孔22(术语称为“A型插孔”)的目的地路径,除了将水平电缆20连接至相关联的转接板端口之外,可使用类似的过程来指导水平电缆20与相关转接板端口的连接。在此过程中,系统点亮相关转接板上的合适LED并在安装导致正确A型插孔连接至正确网络路径的情况下使该LED快速闪烁。诸如图1和图3所述将该步骤应用于系统。
安装者可以使用安装辅助设备42关闭LED。如果水平电缆20连接至错误的A型插孔和/或错误的P型插孔,该系统将通知问题的各种可能来源,并且相关的LED将慢速闪烁直到该连接被移除。
交叉连接安装的修改步骤可以利用类似的系统,这些步骤总结如下。
可使用随后的步骤方便地移除转接线:
1.用于离该来源最远端口的LED缓慢闪烁。
2.用于离该来源最远端口的LED在移除插头时熄灭。
3.用于离该来源最近端口的LED缓慢闪烁。
4.用于离该来源最近端口的LED在安装者通知系统已移除插头时熄灭。
可使用如下的步骤方便地转移转接线的一端:
1.指令包括跟随着附加的移除,或者在转接线长度合适的情况下,将一端从一个端口转移至另一个端口。
2.移除端口的LED缓慢闪烁直到移除插头。
3.如果附加端口离开关最近,则该端口的LED点亮并在恰当插入插头时变为快速闪烁。
4.如果安装不正确,则该端口LED将缓慢闪烁。
5.如果附加端口离开关最远,则直到在最远端口内插入插头时才点亮LED。如果安装正确,则最远端口LED将快速闪烁。
6.如果安装不正确,则最远端口LED将缓慢闪烁。
7.当转移正确完成时,修改者用PC关闭闪烁的LED。
互连安装的修改可使用类似的系统。
1.系统指导对连接至特定P型插孔的前部或后部的电缆的移除,并且相关联的LED缓慢闪烁直到完成。
2.系统指导对特定P型插孔的前部或后部的电缆的连接,并且相关联的LED快速闪烁直到正确完成。
在正确安装网络并且文档编制的一个元素改变之后,系统就能够立即定义已改变的片段并且通知关于此改变的信息。
尽管已示出并描述了本发明的特定实施例和应用,但可以理解本发明并不限于在此揭示的精确结构和组成。例如,可以在根据本发明的系统和方法中使用不同的闪烁模式或指示器类型。各种其他的更改、变化和改变可从前面的描述中显而易见,而不背离如所附权利要求书中限定的本发明的精神和范围。
Claims (30)
1.一种有助于通信电缆安装的方法,包括:
至少一个转接板,它包括适于经由通信网络接收安装帮助指令的至少一个有源通信插孔;
所述至少一个有源通信插孔包括指示器,它根据所述安装帮助指令为安装者指示安装指令。
2.一种能够连接至通信网络的装置,包括:
至少一个网络通信端口,其中每个网络通信端口包括:
电子模块,它使用包括与所述通信端口相关联的唯一标识符的响应消息来响应经由通信网络接收的查询;以及
由所述电子模块控制的视觉指示器,它根据收到的网络电缆改变指令指示视觉线索。
3.如权利要求2所述的装置,其特征在于,所述装置是如下之一:
墙壁插孔;以及
转接板插孔。
4.如权利要求2所述的装置,其特征在于,每个网络通信端口都是独立接收并发送网络消息的网络可寻址设备。
5.如权利要求4所述的装置,其特征在于,所述唯一的标识符是MAC ID。
6.如权利要求2所述的装置,其特征在于,每个网络通信端口独立接收经由网络的查询并独立发送通过网络所接收到的查询的响应消息。
7.如权利要求2所述的装置,其特征在于,每个网络通信端口独立接收网络电缆改变指令并根据接收到的网络电缆改变指令独立更新与所述网络通信端口相关联的视觉线索。
8.如权利要求2所述的装置,其特征在于,所述指示器是至少一个发光设备,并且所述视觉线索是至少一个发光设备的至少一种闪烁方式并且有规则地点亮闪烁至少一个发光设备。
9.如权利要求8所述的装置,其特征在于,所述至少一个发光设备包括传导由所述发光设备发射的光的光导管。
10.如权利要求9所述的装置,其特征在于,所述光导管包括多个发光端。
11.如权利要求8所述的装置,其特征在于,所述发光设备从所述网络通信端口的正面和所述网络通信端口的背面发光。
12.一种用于在通信网络中对网络电缆连接执行计划的改变的方法,包括:
(a)一旦网络连接到设备就显示第一视觉线索,以指示电缆安装者执行由计划的改变所影响的从标识设备端口上连接或断开连接电缆的操作之一;
(b)确定所述计划的改变是否被正确执行;以及
(c)一旦所述网络连接设备就显示第二视觉线索,以指示电缆安装者是否已正确执行所述计划的改变,
其中显示视觉线索和确定所述计划的改变是否被正确执行至少部分是基于与有源通信插孔的通信。
13.如权利要求12所述的方法,其特征在于,所述显示的第一和第二视觉线索中的至少一个是与所述网络连接设备上端口相关联的点亮发光设备。
14.如权利要求12所述的方法,其特征在于,所述显示的第一和第二视觉线索中的至少一个是在安装工具连接至所述通信网络时被呈现的。
15.如权利要求12所述的方法,其特征在于,(b)还包括:
(b.1)至少部分基于所述通信系统的存储文档编制来确定所述计划的改变是否被正确执行。
16.如权利要求12所述的方法,其特征在于,还包括:
(d)把所定义的计划的改变呈现给所述电缆安装者用于选择;以及
(e)基于电缆安装者的选择监视所述计划的改变的执行。
17.如权利要求12所述的方法,其特征在于,还包括:
(d)接收来自电缆安装者的指示该电缆安装者开始执行所述计划的改变的指令;以及
(e)一接收到来自该电缆安装者的所述开始指令就监视所述计划的改变的执行。
18.如权利要求12所述的方法,其特征在于,还包括响应于如下至少一种情况而撤销所述视觉线索:
电缆安装者指示所述计划的改变完成;
确定所述计划的改变被正确执行;
预定延迟期满;以及
移除电缆连接。
19.一种具有计算机可读介质的程序产品装置,其中所述介质带有存储其上用于控制通信网络中对网络电缆连接的计划改变的实现的计算机可执行程序指令,所述程序产品装置包括:
指示至少一个网络连接设备以显示第一视觉线索的程序指令,以指示电缆安装者执行由计划的改变影响的从标识设备端口上连接或断开连接电缆的操作之一;
确定所述计划的改变是否被正确执行的程序指令;以及
指示至少一个网络连接设备以显示第二视觉线索的程序指令,以通知电缆安装者是否已正确执行所述计划的改变;以及
支持与有源通信插孔通信的程序指令。
20.如权利要求19所述的程序产品装置,其特征在于,所述显示的第一和第二视觉线索中的至少一个是与所述网络连接设备上端口相关联的点亮发光设备。
21.如权利要求19所述的程序产品装置,其特征在于,所述显示的第一和第二视觉线索中的至少一个是在安装工具连接至所述通信网络时被呈现的。
22.如权利要求19所述的程序产品装置,其特征在于,还包括
至少部分基于所述通信系统的存储文档编制来确定所述计划改变是否被正确执行的程序指令
23.如权利要求19所述的程序产品装置,其特征在于,还包括:
把所述定义的计划改变呈现给所述电缆安装者用于选择的程序指令;以及
基于电缆安装者的选择监视所述计划改变的实现的程序指令。
24.如权利要求19所述的程序产品装置,其特征在于,还包括:
接收来自电缆安装者的指示该电缆安装者开始执行所述计划改变的指令的程序指令;以及
一接收到来自该电缆安装者的所述开始指令就监视所述计划改变的执行的程序指令。
25.如权利要求19所述的程序产品装置,其特征在于,还包括响应于如下至少一种情况而控制撤销所述视觉线索的指令:
电缆安装者指示所述计划改变完成;
确定所述计划改变被正确执行;
预定延迟期满;以及
移除电缆连接。
26.一种实现通信网络中对网络电缆连接的计划改变的装置包括:
用于显示第一视觉线索以指示电缆安装者执行由计划改变影响的从标识设备端口上连接或断开连接电缆的操作这一的装置;
确定所述计划改变是否被正确实现的装置;以及
用于显示第二视觉线索以通知电缆安装者是否已正确实现所述计划改变的装置。
27.如权利要求26所述的装置,其特征在于,还包括:
用于确定所述计划改变是否正确实现的装置。
28.如权利要求26所述的装置,其特征在于,还包括:
把所定义的计划改变呈现给所述电缆安装者用于选择的装置;以及
基于电缆安装者的选择监视所述计划改变的实现的装置。
