SIP的另一个主要功能是提供目的地用户被请求的会话描述。SIP不关心会话的细节,而是提供关于用来描述会话的协议的信息。例如,SIP可采用多用途因特网电子函件扩充(MIME)、会话描述协议(SDP)或一些其他合适的工具来描述会话。SIP还可用于磋商一个公共的格式来描述特定会话。
可以由用户建立的一种电话呼叫是从具有IP功能的设备到连接至公用电话交换网(PSTN)的标准电话机的呼叫。具有IP功能的设备经过IP网络网关与PSTN通信。网络网关起到接口的作用,提供从分组交换IP信令/语音系统到PSTN所采用的电路交换时分复用(TDM)系统的协调。与产生这些类型的呼叫相关的一个问题涉及计费。利用SIP信令,网络网关从发端SIP用户接收呼叫建立消息。呼叫建立消息包括呼叫方的IP地址,这似乎是识别应为呼叫付费的实体的较直接的方法。不幸的是,盗用的用户访问个人计算机以输入不正确的呼叫方身份也比较容易。这样,SIP消息自身作为计费的基础是不可靠的。人们需要一种以基本上消除盗用的有效方式对SIP电话呼叫进行计费的方法。
本发明满足了上述需要。本发明提供了一种对从具有SIP功能的设备到连接至公用电话交换网(PSTN)的电话建立的电话呼叫进行计费的有效方法。本发明的方法还基本上消除了盗用。
本发明的一个方面是在第一用户和第二用户之间建立呼叫。IP网络包括SIP服务器和被配置以提供到公用交换网的访问的网关。该方法包括接收呼叫请求消息。鉴别呼叫请求消息以识别真实发端用户。搜索数据库以查找对应于真实发端用户的用户计费标签。如果获得用户计费标签则授权该呼叫进行,如果未获得用户计费标签则不授权该呼叫进行。

现在详细参照本发明的典型实施例,其实例在附图中说明。在可能的情况下,在整个附图中相同标号用来指代相同或近似部分。本发明的网络体系的典型实施例如图1所示,用标号10总体标出。
根据本发明,本发明包括一种用于在第一用户和第二用户之间建立呼叫的方法。IP网络包括SIP服务器和被配置以提供到公用交换网的访问的网关。该方法包括接收呼叫请求消息。鉴别呼叫请求消息以识别真实发端用户。搜索数据库以查找对应于真实发端用户的用户计费标签。如果获得用户计费标签则授权该呼叫进行,如果未获得用户计费标签则不授权该呼叫进行。这样,本发明提供了一种用于对从具有SIP功能的设备到连接至公用电话交换网(PSTN)的电话建立的电话呼叫进行计费的有效方法。本发明还基本上消除了盗用。
正如在此体现并在图1中所示,公开了适于经过IP网络建立呼叫的网络10。网络10包括连接到企业网130、企业网140、小型专用交换机(PBX)150、公用电话交换网(PSTN)160和SIP电话170的IP网络100。

相关领域普通技术人员很清楚对本发明的网络10的各种部件都可作出修改和变形。SPS102,RS110,网络网关106,及SIP设备136,138,146,148和170可以是任一合适的类型,只要其遵循在RFC2543中详细规定的SIP标准。SIP是应用层控制和信令协议,它实现在用户间建立、修改和结束会话。SIP也是用户-服务器协议。SIP用户是例如运行在个人计算机或膝上电脑上的软件用户。从信令的观点,设备136和146与SIP电话138,148和170类似地工作。
IP网络骨干104包括全国范围的高速网络,速度为622MB/sec(OC-12)。骨干104采用通称为异步传输模式(ATM)的高级分组交换技术。骨干104还采用称为同步光网络(SONET)的光纤传输技术。ATM和SONET的组合实现高速、高容量的语音、数据、视频信号随意组合和传输。骨干104的高速是通过ATM交换矩阵来连接因特网协议,并在SONET网络上运行该组合实现的。
NMS108可以是任何合适的类型,但通过实例示出的是分布的计算机系统,它包括用户管理、帐户管理、计费、网络设施供应和网络数据收集功能。在一个实施例中,计算机系统基于由SUN微型系统提供的技术。在另一个实施例中,由计算机系统采用的数据库基于由ORACLE提供的技术。
用户管理系统提供并控制到用户帐户的访问。用户可利用网页监视业务,注册到其帐户,管理用户配置所允许的特定部件。帐户管理系统允许网络人员建立、维护或撤消用户帐户。在一个实施例中,用户信息通过网接口查看。计费系统在准备用户发票过程中处理用户事件记录,用户定价计划数据,调整,征税和其他数据。网络设施供应系统提供网络工程师所需要的信息来确保合适的硬件和软件已经就绪以提供服务。这可能涉及建立用户配置,以及重新配置SPS102,RS110等网络部件。网络供应可能也会需要设置在骨干104中所用的硬件插入式设备。
SPS102可以是任何合适的类型,但通过实例示出的是SIP代理服务器,它遵循在RFC2543中详细规定的SIP标准。SPS102为了以其他用户的名义发出请求,既作为服务器又作为用户。SPS102可以直接服务请求,也可以将请求传给另一个服务器。SPS102还可以在转发消息之前重写消息。
RS110可以是任何合适的类型,但通过实例示出的是SIP重定向服务器,它遵循在RFC2543中详细规定的SIP标准。RS110接收SIP消息,变换该地址为一个或多个新地址,将这些地址返回给用户,用户可以是SPS102。RS110不发出其自己的SIP请求,RS110不接收呼叫。RS110基本上是位置服务器,可从中获得关于可能的发端位置的信息。
INCP122是智能网络控制点,可以访问它以获得存在的专用网络用户的拨号表信息。INCP122是附加的数据库,可以被RS110查询为特定专用呼叫确立路由。INCP122也可被SPS102访问。在另一个实施例中,RS110还可以向一些其他的遗留系统或数据库查询路由信息。
PSTN160可以是任何合适的类型,但通过实例示出的是采用7号信令系统(SS7)的电路交换网络。交换机162可以是3类交换机、5类交换机或任何合适的交换设备。电话164可以是目前正在使用或市面上的任何合适的电话机。
DAL网关116可以是任何合适的类型,但通过实例示出的是被配置以支持在IP位置和非IP位置之间的专用业务的系统。
正如在此体现并如图2所示,公开了表示用于获得正确的计费信息的方法的流程图。再参照图1,举例来说,发端用户试图建立从设备136到目的地用户手头的电话164的呼叫。设备126发出INVITE消息到代理服务器102。因为电话164不是SIP设备,INVITE消息包括电话164的电话号码而不是统一资源定位器(URL)。在步骤202,SPS102通过发出一个随机数来询问设备136鉴别自身。设备136采用随机数、其口令及用户名通过MD5 hash算法来计算鉴别结果并将随机数、用户名(但没有口令)和结果传送到SPS102。
SPS102利用用户名来在数据库中查找匹配口令,该数据库可以在服务器102上,也可以不在服务器102上。SPS102利用由用户136提供的用户名和随机数以及从数据库检索出的口令执行同一个运算。如果结果匹配,就鉴别出在设备126的发端用户。一旦用户136被鉴别出,SPS102用用户名和口令来查找真实发端用户,例如应当付该呼叫的费用的一方。SPS102搜索数据库以查找对应于真实发端用户的用户计费标签。在步骤214中,SPS102插入用户计费标签到呼叫请求消息(INVITE),然后经过骨干104将消息传送到网关106。
这时,网关106试图经过交换机162与电话机164建立电路交换呼叫。如果网关106成功了,ACCEPT消息传送回设备136,呼叫建立。呼叫完成后,网关106传送用户计费标签、呼叫长度及任何其他相关呼叫统计量到NMS108。显然,如果步骤204的鉴别过程失败,就不授权呼叫进行。同样,如果用户计费标签不在数据库中,不授权呼叫进行,呼叫请求消息不传到网关106。本领域普通技术人员会明白图2所示的方法可以体现为存在任何计算机可读介质,如只读存储器(ROM)、随机存取存储器(RAM)、只读光盘存储器(CD-ROM)、硬驱或硬盘上的计算机可执行指令。这些指令可存在SPS102的只读存储器(ROM)中,或存储为在网络100之内的其他某位置的网络资源。
正如在此描述的及在图3中所示,公开了表示用于获得正确计费信息的方法的流程图。再参照图1,在本实例中,在设备126的发端用户试图与在设备148的目的地用户建立会话。步骤300和302与图2中所示的步骤200-206是等同的。在步骤304,SPS102估计目的地用户148的配置。对于SIP设备来说,典型的配置包括用户的鉴别用户名、口令、帐户数据等信息。但关于这一点,重要的配置信息涉及实现的呼叫特性。该特性包括无条件呼叫转移、有条件呼叫转移、呼叫跟随、呼叫阻塞、呼叫屏蔽、假名管理、口令改变和缺省地址管理。在本例中,控制SPS102将呼叫转移至电话机164,从而实现了呼叫转移特性。
在本例中,因为目的地用户请求经过PSTN160与电话机164建立呼叫,目的地用户应当为呼叫付费。SPS102从配置中获得与设备148有关的用户名和口令,并用该用户名和口令查找真实发端用户,例如应当为呼叫付费的一方。SPS102搜索数据库以查找对应于真实发端用户的用户计费标签。在步骤310中,SPS102插入用户计费标签到呼叫请求消息(INVITE)中并经过骨干104传送消息到网关106。这时,网关106试图在用户126和电话机164之间建立电路交换呼叫。如果网关106成功了,ACCEPT消息传送回设备126,呼叫建立。在呼叫完成后,网关106传送用户计费标签、呼叫长度等相关呼叫统计量到NMS108。
本领域普通技术人员会明白在图3所示的方法可以体现为存在任何计算机可读介质,例如ROM、RAM、CD-ROM、硬驱或硬盘上的计算机可执行指令。这些指令可存储在SPS102的只读存储器(ROM)中,或存储为网络100之内的网络资源。
本领域普通技术人员会明白为由服务器102处理的所有呼叫类型加上计费标签。在SIP电话、企业网关、网络网关、DAL网关、INCP网关、SIP语音信箱服务器、SIP会议服务器的全部或任意组合之间建立的呼叫可采用本发明。本领域普通技术人员也明白本发明可利用任何合适类型的传输网络。此外,本发明适用于任何类型的会话,可建立的这些类型的会话包括但不局限于电话、视频、音频、短消息等等。为了计费,也规划可以在由网络提供的多种多样的业务中采用本发明。这些业务包括但不局限于呼叫回转、呼叫转移、呼叫方ID、呼叫方等待、呼叫阻塞,尤其是可以按每次呼叫来进行计费的任何业务。

接收呼叫请求消息;
鉴别呼叫请求消息,由此识别真实发端用户;
搜索数据库以查找对应于真实发端用户的预定用户计费标签,由此如果获得用户计费标签则授权该呼叫进行,如果未获得用户计费标签则不授权该呼叫进行。

将用户计费标签插入到呼叫请求消息中;以及
在用户计费标签插入到呼叫请求消息中之后,传送呼叫请求消息到网关。

搜索数据库以查找对应于真实发端用户的用户计费标签,由此如果获得用户计费标签,服务器允许呼叫进行,如果不能获得用户计费标签,服务器不允许呼叫进行。
62.权利要求61的系统,其中处理器被设计以将用户计费标签插入到至少一个呼叫请求消息中。
63.权利要求62的系统,其中处理器被设计传送带有用户计费标签的呼叫请求消息到网络网关。
64.权利要求61的系统,其中处理器还被设计以:
将报头加到SIP呼叫请求消息中,该报头包括服务器标识符;以及
传送呼叫请求消息和报头到网络网关。
65.一种网络网关系统,用于在第一用户和第二用户之间建立呼叫,该系统包括:
用于与电路交换网络建立呼叫的通信接口;以及
连接到通信接口的处理器,该处理器被设计以:
接收至少一个呼叫请求消息,
试图从至少一个呼叫请求消息中恢复用户计费标签;以及
传送用户计费标签和至少一个呼叫统计量到网络管理系统。
66.一种网络网关系统,用于在第一用户和第二用户之间建立呼叫,该系统包括:
用于与电路交换网络建立呼叫的通信接口;以及
连接到通信接口的处理器,该处理器被设计以:
接收呼叫请求消息;
检查呼叫请求消息加在呼叫请求消息上的报头是否存在;以及
在报头存在的情况下进行呼叫。
67.权利要求66的系统,其中如果报头存在则进行呼叫。
68.权利要求66的系统,其中如果报头不存在则不进行呼叫。
