背景技术
同轴电缆通常用于有线电视工业,用于将有线电视信号传送到家庭、企事业单位和其它地方内的电视机。可采用硬线同轴电缆将分布系统中的信号传送到这些地方的外部,然后通常采用柔性同轴电缆将信号传送到这些地方的内部。在需要高度RF屏蔽的地方也可采用硬线或半刚性同轴电缆。
硬线电缆包括硬质的金属丝芯或内导体,通常是铜或铜包铝的,并且外面包覆硬质的管状外导体。该外导体通常由铜或铝制成。介电材料或绝缘材料将内导体和外导体分隔开。外导体由塑料的电缆外套或护套所包覆,以便防止腐蚀和风化。
一种用于半刚性同轴电缆的连接器包括该连接器直接焊接连接至电缆的外导体。例如,参见美国专利号4,921,447和5,232,377。焊接连接提供了连接器至外导体的部分机械连接。但是,因为焊接所需的复杂设备和操作该复杂设备时的困难,所以此类直接焊接连接经常已成为生产问题。
另一种用于硬线电缆的电缆连接器采用经向压缩卷边来将连接器的诸零件电气和机械连接于电缆。通常,该连接器内的套筒由卷边工具所压缩。该套筒可具有槽、凹槽、螺纹等,以有助于该套筒和电缆的外导体之间的机械连接。例如,参见美国专利号4,408,821;4,469,390;5,120,260和6,042,422。但是,径向卷边经常不能将压缩力均匀地施加于外导体或外导体的外部管状套管上。此类不均匀的压缩会形成供湿气渗透到同轴电缆连接机构中的许多通道,从而导致由电缆所传送的信号衰变。
已采用带螺纹的电缆连接器来提供连接器的较均匀的压缩。例如,参见美国专利号5,352,134和6,019,636。但是,因为完成螺纹连接需要转动运动,所以带螺纹的连接器经常要消耗更多时间来进行装配。并且,带螺纹的连接器的安装工人经常必须要携带不同尺寸的板手去适应不同尺寸的电缆连接器,这也使安装过程复杂化。
为了克服卷边和带螺纹的连接器的困难,已采用了不同设计的可轴向压缩的连接器。美国专利号4,408,821和4,452,503中就揭示了一种连接器,在该连接器轴向压缩时,带沟槽的管状套筒径向压缩夹持环。该夹持环具有槽入到(furrow)外导体中的花键齿和与外导体互锁的纵向槽。但是,此类配置会使外导体机械变形,这会导致信号损失。并且,因为外导体的整个圆周面不必与夹持环啮合,所以该设计没有充分地防止湿气进入到连接器中。美国专利号4,540,231为了在相关的应用中提供较好的密封机构而采用密封胶来提供密封。但是,利用胶进一步使这一连接器的安装和结构复杂化。

发明内容
本发明提供了一种用于硬线或半刚性同轴电缆的快速连接的环境密封的连接器。该连接器包含有密封环和套筒,并带有密封装置。在该连接器轴向压缩、以便将该连接器密封和固定到同轴电缆时,密封环和套筒可滑动地接合,并将密封装置朝着同轴电缆的电缆外套推压,以便提供其环境密封部分。
在本发明的一个方面中,套筒在其远端处包含有圆周槽,该远端是接近密封环的一端。在该连接器轴向压缩时,套筒和密封环可滑动地接合,以便将套筒远端的内部推压到电缆外套上,从而在那里环境密封该连接器。

具体实施方式
本发明旨在一种用于硬线或半刚性同轴电缆的连接器。该连接器被构成为可围绕一硬线同轴电缆被轴向压缩,以便提供对于同轴电缆的机械和电气连接。并且,在轴向压缩时,连接器环境密封同轴电缆,以防止会有害地影响同轴电缆性能的湿气渗漏。
图1示出了本发明的连接器10的局部剖开的分解立体图。该连接器包括如图所示相互有关的密封螺母12、套管14、柱体16、套圈18、套筒20和密封环22。该连接器10系用于与硬线同轴电缆24一起使用、并在轴向压缩时封闭的快速连接的RF连接器。

Claims (31)

圆筒形套圈,它具有近端部分和远端部分,所述圆筒形套圈的所述远端部分具有多个分开的指状体,所述指状体具有内表面和倾斜的外表面,所述指状体的所述内表面适于抵靠地接合硬线同轴电缆的外导体的外表面;

圆筒形套圈,它具有近端部分和远端部分,所述圆筒形套圈的所述远端部分具有多个分开的指状体,所述指状体具有内表面和倾斜的外表面,所述指状体的所述内表面适于抵靠地接合硬线同轴电缆的外导体的外表面;
细长的圆筒形套管,它具有用于牢固地保持所述柱体和套圈的近端和开放远端;
圆筒形套筒,它具有可滑动地接合所述套圈的倾斜表面的近端部分和在其端部处具有圆周凹槽的远端部分;
位于所述套筒的凹槽中的O形圈;以及
密封环,它适于可滑动地插入到所述套筒的凹槽之中;
其中,当所述密封环可滑动地插入到所述套管远端处的所述套筒中时,套筒的近端部分径向向内地压缩所述套圈指状体,以便将指状体的内表面固定于所述硬线同轴电缆的外导体的外表面,并且,密封环将所述O形圈压缩到包围同轴电缆的外导体的电缆外套的外表面上,从而在那里提供环境密封。
10.如权利要求9所述的连接器,其特征在于,还包括位于所述套筒的远端部分处的第二O形圈,用以在所述套筒和套管滑动接合时,在那里环境密封套筒和套管。

17.一种环境密封的电连接机构,包括:
硬线同轴电缆,它具有细长的中心导体、包围所述中心导体的介质、包围所述介质的管状外导体和包覆所述外导体的电缆外套;
细长柱体,它具有带有近端部分和远端部分的圆筒形壁,所述远端部分具有一外表面,所述外表面适于抵靠地接合所述硬线同轴电缆的外导体的内表面;
圆筒形套圈,它具有近端部分和远端部分,所述圆筒形套圈的所述远端部分具有多个分开的指状体,所述指状体具有内表面和倾斜的外表面,所述指状体的所述内表面适于抵靠地接合硬线同轴电缆的外导体的外表面;
细长的圆筒形套管,它具有用于牢固地保持所述柱体和套圈的近端和开放远端;
圆筒形套筒,它具有可滑动地接合所述套圈的倾斜表面的近端部分和在其端部处具有密封装置的远端部分;以及
密封环,它适于可滑动地插入到所述套筒的槽之中;
其中,当所述密封环可滑动地插入到所述套管远端处的所述套筒中时,套筒的近端部分径向向内地压缩所述套圈指状体,以便将指状体的内表面固定于所述硬线同轴电缆的外导体的外表面,并且,密封环将所述密封装置压缩到电缆外套的外表面上,从而在那里提供环境密封。
18.如权利要求17所述的电连接机构,其特征在于,还包括位于所述套筒的远端部分处的O形圈,用以在所述套筒和套管滑动接合时,在那里环境密封套筒和套管。
19.如权利要求17所述的电连接机构,其特征在于,所述套筒在近端具有倾斜的内表面,用以可滑动地接合所述套圈的倾斜表面。
20.如权利要求17所述的电连接机构,其特征在于,所述套圈指状体的内表面还包括向内延伸的凸脊,用以牢固地接合所述外导体。
21.如权利要求17所述的电连接机构,其特征在于,所述套筒的远端部分具有凹槽部分,并且所述密封装置是容纳在所述凹槽部分内的O形圈。
22,如权利要求17所述的电连接机构,其特征在于,所述套筒的远端部分具有圆周槽,用以构成套筒的内部,并且所述密封装置是在套筒滑动插入到所述密封环内时被径向向内压缩的套筒的所述内部。
23.如权利要求17所述的电连接机构,其特征在于,还包括从所述密封环径向向外延伸的凸齿,用以在密封环滑动插入到所述套筒中时,将密封环牢固地保持在套筒的圆周槽内。
24.如权利要求17所述的电连接机构,其特征在于,还包括位于所述套管远端处的凹槽和位于所述套筒远端处的凸脊,其中,所述凹槽和凸脊被构成为,在套筒和套管滑动接合时啮合,以便在那里将套筒牢固地固定于套管。
25.如权利要求17所述的电连接机构,其特征在于,所述连接器是RF连接器。
26.如权利要求17所述的电连接机构,其特征在于,所述电缆外套是由可变形材料所形成的。
27.一种用于与同轴电缆一起使用的连接器,包括:
细长柱体,它具有带有近端部分和远端部分的圆筒形壁,所述远端部分具有一外表面,所述外表面适于抵靠地接合所述硬线同轴电缆的外导体的内表面;
分开的圆筒形套圈,它具有近端部分和远端部分,所述圆筒形套圈的所述远端部分具有内表面和倾斜的外表面,所述圆筒形套圈的所述内表面适于抵靠地接合硬线同轴电缆的外导体的外表面;
细长的圆筒形套管,它具有用于牢固地保持所述柱体的近端部分和所述套圈的近端部分的近端和开放远端;
圆筒形套筒,它具有沿圆周接合所述套圈的倾斜表面的近端部分和具有开放端且具有圆柱形凹槽的远端部分;
空心圆筒形密封件,它适于固定在所述凹槽内;以及
位于所述套筒的凹槽中的O形圈;
其中,当所述圆筒形套筒和所述套管的远端固定接合时,套筒的近端部分径向向内地压缩所述套圈,以便将套圈的内表面固定于所述硬线同轴电缆的外导体的外表面,并且,所述O形圈压缩到包围同轴电缆的外导体的电缆外套的外表面上,从而在那里提供环境密封。
28.如权利要求27所述的连接器,其特征在于,还包括第二O形圈,用于在所述套管和所述圆筒形套筒牢固接合时,在套管和圆筒形套筒之间提供环境密封。
