Abstract

一种绝热聚合物组合物,一种使用该组合物制成的校准层和具有该校准层的LCD。该绝热聚合物组合物含有10~25%(重量)的一种聚酰亚胺树脂或聚酰胺酸(polyamicacid),0.1—1%(重量)的一种粘合剂及余量的一种溶剂。该粘合剂的作用是大大提高热稳定性。因此,具有使用该粘合剂制成的校准层的LCD能够获得所要求的液晶的预倾角和液晶分子所要求的校准特性。

Description

绝热聚合物组合物,使用它制作的 校准层和带有该校准层的液晶显示器
本发明涉及液晶显示器(LCD),更具体的说,涉及一种绝热聚合物组合物,一种使用这种绝热聚合物组合物制作的校准层和带有该校准层的LCD。
一般说来,液晶分子具有液体和固体中间的性质,具有液体的流动性和固体的光学性质,并且通过电场或加热能够改变其光学各向异性。液晶显示器(LCD)利用这种性质并典型地作为平板式显示器使用。
图1是普通的LCD的示意的截面图,其中由氧化铟锡(ITO)构成的透明电极3和3’分别在玻璃制的上和下基材2和2’上形成。接下来在透明电极3和3’上形成绝缘层4和4’和用于校准液晶的校准层5和5’。在带有晶胞隙的校准层5和5’之间设置有间隔网6。将一种液晶材料注入晶胞隙内以形成液晶层7。用于偏振入射和透射光的偏振板1和1’设置在基材2和2’的外侧。
图2表示在液晶分子和校准表面(基材)之间方向的关系,其中的预倾角是指由基材表面与液晶方位形成的角度。校准层必须通过使用适当的校准材料或使用适当的校准方法形成,以便能够将液晶的预倾角调整至一个合适的范围内,该范围对于提高LCD的显示性能是至关重要的。
为了达到形成校准层的目的,一般总是使用摩擦处理,即将一种聚合物树脂膜例如聚酰亚胺膜形成于设置有电极的基材上然后用一块布摩擦该膜。
根据这种摩擦处理,在带有电极层的基材上涂敷一层含有聚酰亚胺树脂的校准层组合物,然后在200~250℃热处理约1小时并且进行摩擦处理以便形成一个校准层。然后,设置液晶层,在设置校准层的基材上涂敷间隔网并使用预定的晶胞隙密封上和下基材。此后将液晶组合物注入晶胞隙内然后再在约100℃进行热处理。但是校准层可能被这种热处理损坏,进而令人讨厌地改变了预倾角或校准度,结果使LCD的显示性能变劣。
为解决上述问题,本发明的一个目的是提供一种具有优良热稳定性的绝热聚合物组合物。
本发明的另一个目的是提供一种由该绝热聚合物组合物形成的校准层,该校准层能够发挥稳定的校准性能。
本发明的再一个目的是提供一种借助具有优良校准性能的校准层提高了显示性能的液晶显示器LCD。
因此,为了达到第一个目的,提供一种绝热聚合物组合物,其中10~25%(重量)是一种聚酰亚胺树脂或聚酰胺酸(polyamic acid),0.1-1%(重量)是一种粘合剂而余下的是一种溶剂。
具体的说,该粘合剂和聚酰亚胺树脂或聚酰胺酸优选的混合重量比为0.5∶99.5-6∶94(按固体重量计)。
该粘合剂没有特别的限制,只要该树脂有粘性就行,优选的是使用环氧树脂。此时,该环氧树脂的重均分子量优选为5 000~30 000。
在根据本发明的聚合物组合物中所使用的溶剂没有特别的限制,优选的是氯仿或N-甲基吡咯烷酮(NMP)。
本发明的第二个目的是通过一种含有粘合剂和聚酰亚胺或聚酰胺酸的校准层达到的,粘合剂与聚酰亚胺或聚酰胺酸的重量比为0.5∶99.5-6∶94。
本发明的第三个目的是通过一种具有含有该粘合剂和聚酰亚胺或聚酰胺酸的校准层的LCD达到的,粘合剂与聚酰亚胺或聚酰胺酸的重量比为0.5∶99.5-6∶94。
根据本发明,该将粘合剂以适当的比例加入到传统的组合物中以便形成校准层,借此提高该校准层对于基材的粘性。再有,在摩擦处理期间当环氧树脂和聚合物都被校准到同一个方向时,该聚合物链能够被固定住,而摩擦处理后校准的起始状态甚至在液晶注入或热处理之后仍能够保持住。
本发明的上述目的和优点通过结合附图对其一个优选实例的详细描述而变得更明显,附图中,
图1是一般的液晶显示器的截面图;和
图2是表示在液晶分子和校准面(基材)之间的方向的关系图。
在本发明中,提供一种绝热聚合物组合物,与传统的由聚酰亚胺构成组合物相比,还含有一种粘合剂,提供一种使用该组合物形成的校准层,提供一种带有该校准层的LCD。作为粘合剂,优选使用具有重均分子量为5000~30000的粘性环氧树脂。此时,优选使该校准层含有粘合剂和环氧树脂的重量比为0.5∶99.5-6∶94,以固体重量计。如果相对于聚酰亚胺树脂粘合剂的用量超过6%(重量),粘性会变得太高以致于不能保障平滑的摩擦处理。如果相对于聚酰亚胺树脂粘合剂的用量小于0.5%(重量),粘合剂表现不出所希望的效果。
下文中将通过详述的实例更详细地描述本发明。不过,下面的实例只是本发明的例子,而本发明范围并不受其限制。
在下面的实施例和对比实施例中,使用NMP作为溶剂,使用AldrichIndustries,Co.,Ltd.生产的Z10作为环氧树脂,使用Nissan ChemicalIndustries,Ltd.生产的RN715作为聚酰亚胺树脂。这些树脂分别以溶液的形式(10%)使用。
实施例1
将0.5g的环氧树脂溶液和99.5g的聚酰亚胺树脂溶液混合形成一种聚合物组合物。将该组合物均匀地涂敷到设置了表面已经清洗干净的ITO电极的玻璃基材上,设置该基材上,在约220℃热处理约1小时以便蒸发干溶剂,从而形成聚酰亚胺树脂层,摩擦该层从而形成了校准层。接下来使用传统的方法涂敷上间隔网,密封上和下基材。然后将液晶注入在上和下基材之间形成的晶胞隙内并且在约100℃热处理约25分钟。
在完成这个LCD之后,采用晶体旋转法观察预倾角的变化,在偏振显微镜下观察该液晶层的液晶的校准特性。
实施例2
按照实施例1所述相同的方式制造LCD,只是使用3g的环氧树脂溶液和97g的聚酰亚胺树脂溶液。然后观察该液晶的预倾角和校准特性的变化。
实施例3
按照实施例1所述相同的方式制造LCD,只是使用6g的环氧树脂溶液和94g的聚酰亚胺树脂溶液。然后观察该液晶的预倾角和校准特性的变化。
对比实施例1
按照实施例1所述相同的方式制造LCD,只是不使用环氧树脂溶液。然后观察该液晶的预-倾角和校准特性的变化。
对比实施例2
按照实施例1所述相同的方式制造LCD,只是使用0.2g的环氧树脂溶液和99.8g的聚酰亚胺树脂溶液。然后观察该液晶的预倾角和校准特性的变化。
对比实施例3
按照实施例1所述相同的方式制造LCD,只是使用8g的环氧树脂溶液和92g的聚酰亚胺树脂溶液。然后观察该液晶的预倾角和校准特性的变化。
结果是,在实施例1~3中,观察到液晶的预倾角几乎不变化而液晶被均匀地校准,即,该校准特性是良好。另一方面,在对比实施例1中,液晶的校准被破坏,即液晶的校准特性是不均匀的。预倾角也没有保持在所要求的范围内。在对比实施例2中,液晶的预倾角和校准状态都比在实施例1~3中的情形差。在对比实施例3中,过量地加入环氧树脂,这导致粘性太高,从而使处理材料变得困难。
如上所述,因为粘合剂是包含在本发明的绝热树脂组合物中的,其热稳定性显著地提高了。这样,在使用该绝热聚合物组合物制造校准层和制造LCD时,液晶预倾角的变化或校准的破坏能够大大减小。因而,根据本发明制造的LCD具有高的显示性能。

Claims (11)

1、一种绝热聚合物组合物,含有10~25%(重量)的一种聚酰亚胺树脂或聚酰胺酸(polyamic acid)。0.1-1%(重量)一种粘合剂,及余量的一种溶剂。
2、权利要求1的组合物,其中聚酰亚胺树脂或聚酰胺酸对粘合剂的混合比按固体重量计是99.5∶0.5-94∶6。
3、权利要求1或2的组合物,其中所述的粘合剂是一种环氧树脂。
4、权利要求3的组合物,其中所述环氧树脂的的平均分子量优选为5 000~30 000。
5、权利要求1的组合物,其中所述的溶剂至少是一种选自氯仿或N-甲基吡咯烷酮组成的组中的溶剂。
6、一种校准层,它含有重量比为99.5∶0.5-94∶6的聚酰亚胺树脂或聚酰胺酸与粘合剂。
7、权利要求6所述的校准层,其中所述的粘合剂是一种环氧树脂。
8、权利要求7所述的校准层,其中所述的环氧树脂重均分子量是5 000~30 000。
9、一种液晶显示器(LCD),含有一个校准层,该校准层中的聚酰亚胺树脂或聚酰胺酸与粘合剂的重量比为99.5∶0.5-94∶6。
10、权利要求9的LCD,其中所述的粘合剂是一种环氧树脂。
11、权利要求9的LCD,其中所述环氧树脂的重均分子量是5 000-30 000。
