Description

隐形眼镜包装用的热封合设备
本发明涉及一种用以热封合装有隐形眼镜的容器以构成一个密封包装的设备。更明确地说,本发明涉及一种借助控制对每一个封盖及容器总成所施加的热和压力而将一个封盖料热封合于一个隐形眼镜容器上的设备。
在亲水性(“软式”)隐形眼镜的制造中,传统上是将每一个隐形眼镜成品包装在一个用以容纳单一隐形眼镜及预定量的液体(通常为缓冲盐水)的用后即弃的包装内。一般而言,该隐形眼镜和液体导入在一个容器内的空腔或储器中。该容器通常以热塑性塑料制成(例如聚丙烯或聚苯乙烯)。在隐形眼镜和液体均已插入该容器内之后,在该容器顶部通过利用一张箔片以构成一个封盖且将该箔片热封合于该容器顶部以构成一个包装,从而密封该容器。然后装有隐形眼镜和液体的该热封合包装进行进一步处理,例如包括杀菌处理。
用以在一个装配线上高速包装隐形眼镜的传统设备是设计成为许可在同一时间检查并包装多个隐形眼镜。一般而言,多个(通常为6、8或10个)容器装在一个固定的载具架上,该承载具架有一个空腔接纳每一个容器。将隐形眼镜与液体导入到安装在该载具架上的每一个容器中。然后将装有容器的该载具架输送至一个检查站,在此检查每一个容器确保容器内有隐形眼镜且无瑕疵。然后将该载具架移至一个热封合站的台座上,在此处将一个预成形箔片原料片安置在该容器载具架上。然后将一个热的心轴施加在该载具架上,以便以一个预定时间施加预定的热和压力,借此将该箔片原料热封合在每一个容器并形成密封包装。因此,每一个容器现在为分别热封合在该片箔片原料上并因而接合在一起构成多个包装的串列。该箔片原料提供以穿孔以许可在更进一步的下游处理和/或付运之后将各包装拆开。
上述包装方式呈现多个缺陷。举例来说,通过在每一个载具架上提供以多个稳形眼镜容器,在检查站对该载具架上有瑕疵的或遗漏的隐形眼镜的检测和识别变得极其复杂。必须利用一个复式矩阵追踪系统以识别载具架上有哪些容器检查结果不良并在可卸下这些容器之前在整个制程中作追踪。
在一个固定载具架同时处理多个容器的方法中的另一个固有问题为,在载具架上的每一个容器遭受到相同的热封合状态。由于模造制造中的各种因素,模造成形的热塑性容器的高度有时会有差异。在此种情况下,与标准高度容器相比较,非标准高度的容器可能受到过小压力(若其过短小)或过大压力(若其过高)。因此,由经穿孔的箔片连接在一起的包装串列的一个或多个包装上形成的热封合可能品质不合格。包装串列内有一个瑕疵热封合会使得整包装串列都要丢弃,且因而使同批成品都要作进一步的热封合测试,如果再有发现瑕疵则可能要求剔除整个产品批。
最后,在传统的热封合设备中,穿孔箔片原料片是安置在热心轴站的上游装有容器的载具架上。这种设计依靠重力及摩擦力来保持封盖料在形成热封合之前维持就位。箔片原料的稍微侧向移动会使容器组上的箔片原料失去对准性,并可导致产生一组有瑕疵的包装。
上文揭示的设备公开在授授马丁等人的美国专利第5,687,541号中。其他包装及包装设备系统揭示在以下专利中:授予Martin等人的美国专利第5,649,410号;授予Edie等人的美国专利第5,561,970号;授予Kindt-Larsen的美国专利第5,094,609号;授予Martinez的美国专利第4,691,820号;授予Martin等人的美国专利第5,620,087号;授予Edwards等人的美国专利5,749,205号;授与Abrams等人的美国专利第5,577,367号。以上专利脱钩饮用而接合到本发明中。若本说明书和/或权利要求书中存在文义或解释上的冲突则以本说明书为准。
很明显直到目前为止,仍然有需要提供一种能够检测并选择性地移除不良容器的设备。此外,目前需要有一种热封合设备,其能对一群容器中的每一个容器施加预定压力,以便同时封合该群容器。最后,目前仍需要一种热封合设备,其能在热封合期间维持一片封盖料与该组容器的对准。本发明满足以上需求。
本发明涉及一种用以包装隐形眼镜的设备。该设备包括多个分立隐形眼镜载具及多个隐形眼镜容器。该等载具可在该设备内移动。每一个容器分别装在相应的一个单一栽具上。
本发明也涉及一种用以自动包装隐形眼镜的设备,个设备包括多个隐形眼镜载具、多个升降器、多个隐形眼镜容器以及多个台座或多个心轴。该多个容器中的一个容器分别安装在相应的一个单一载具上。每一个台座或每一个心轴分别独立地由多个升降器中的一个升降器来支撑。该升降器对每一个容器施加在预定范围内的压力。
本发明也涉及一种自动包装隐形眼镜用设备,其包括多个隐形眼镜容器。一个热心轴配置在该容器上方。该热心轴可在该容器上方的一个缩回位置及在与该容器紧邻的一个接合位置之间移动。一个封盖料可选择性地在一个缩回位置和一个插入位置间移动。该插入位置位于该热心轴及该容器之间,借此在该插入位置,直至该热心轴触及该封盖料并同时移向其接合位置之前,该封盖料至少固定保持就位。
本发明也涉及一种用以包装隐形眼镜的设备,其包括一个封盖料,该封盖料的上印有标记。该封盖料是在拉伸下自一个滚筒馈送的。一个视觉对准检查系统检查封盖料上的印刷品质并同时检查封盖料在该设备内的对准度。
在另一个方面,本发明涉及一种用以包装亲水性隐形眼镜的设备,该稳形眼镜沿一个输送带输送,每一个隐形眼镜装在由一个载具支撑的一个容器内。该设备包括一个输送带以输送支撑容器用的该载具,每一个容器包括一个用以容纳一个稳形眼镜的储器,及最好包括一个热封合表面。该设备也包括多个台座,每一个台座连接到一个升降器,每一个升降器能独立地施加预定的压力到心轴上(及在该台座与心轴之间的容器上)。每一个台座接纳一个单一载具。最好该设备有一个换能器,其产生相当于作用在动力缸上的压力的压力信号以确保压力在预定值范围内。一个热心轴配置在该台座上方。该心轴可从一个卸脱位置移动至一个接合位置。提供以一个能将一个封盖料插入处于卸脱位置的心轴中与位在该台座上的容器热封台表面之间的封盖料插入器。该插入器最好直至该心轴触及抵靠在容器上的封盖料之前,将该封盖料固定就位。此外,提供一个信号处理器,该处理器能接收来自该换能器的压力信号,将该信号与一组预定数值作比较,且在升降器所施压力超出预定值范围时,标出要剔除的包装串列。

参照图1和2,该图分别为一个热封合设备10的侧视图及正视图,该设备用以将一个封盖料封合在一个容器上以形成一个密封隐形眼镜包装。该设备包括一个上游输送带12,其能以图2箭头A所示方向将多个单个独立隐形眼镜载具14(参见图4)输送至热封合设备10内。
如图2所示,在热封合设备10中,每一个独立载具14安置在一个分立的支撑台座16之上。每一个台座16由一个升降器及承座20支撑,该升降器可例如为液压或气动(即流体动力)动力缸18,该升降器可在垂直方向上移动相应的台座。
每一个隐形眼镜载具14在其上表面22上支撑一个隐形眼镜容器24,该容器将一个隐形眼镜装在一个杯状凹处或储器25内。该容器可为模具之一个部分,例如为前固化模具和/或隐形眼镜包装的底半部,此部分通常称之为碗。该容器优选为一个碗。现参照图3,容器24包括一个封合凸缘39,该凸缘配置成围绕杯状凹处25。独立的隐形眼镜载具14逐渐地移动至该热封合总成内就位,使每一个隐形眼镜载具14分别安置在一个台座16上。如图2所示,在一个示;例性的实施例中,该热封合总成包括五个台座,每一个台座分别接纳装有一个容器的单一隐形眼镜载具。然而,在目前为优选的范例性实施例中,该热封合总成包括六个台座。一旦该组隐形眼镜载具就位后,且每一个载具上支撑着一个容器24,一片封盖料26会移至在该热封合设备的一个热心轴32与容器24之间就位。封盖料26优选为取一种箔片封盖原料的形式,且最好在相当于每一个独立眼镜载具14之间的位置以传统方式预先穿孔。该箔片通常为铝箔与热塑性塑料膜如聚乙烯的层压片。封盖料26优选为由一个箔片操纵机构支承,该机构包括一对指形握持件28、30。该指形握持件选择性地将封盖料26从一个缩回位置(图中未示)移至插入位置(参见图1和2)。该封盖料优选地少直至在热心轴使该封盖料触及容器表面之前维持在容器上方就位,且在热心轴使封盖料触及容器表面之时,该指形握持件释放封盖料并回到缩回位置。在另一个实施例中,该等指形握持件能就位支承该封盖料直至完成热封合步骤。热心轴32可选择性地由图1和2所示的一个上部未接合位置移至一个下部接合位置,借此对定位在容器上方的封盖料26预定部分施加热和压力一段预定时间以构成热封合并形成一个密封包装。更明确地说,封盖料26热封合于每一个相应的容器24的环状凸缘39。之后,热心轴32上升回到该上部未接合位置。此时每一个独立隐眼镜载具14载有一个密封包装(亦即一个容器24热封合在箔片封盖料26上)且各包装借助该箔片与相邻包装连接而形成一组包装,接下来将各隐形眼镜载具14以本领域的普通技术人员熟习的方式推进至一个下游输送带34上,以便作进一步处理。在优选的模式中,在每一个步骤内使用两条封盖料封合六个容器,每条包含三个包装。
每一个动力缸18与一个或多个压力换能器36处于流体连通状态以测量当热心轴32移动至下部接合位置时由该热心轴施加在容器上的压力。热封合设备10更包括一个控制器59,该控制器电气连接到一个或多个压力换能器并连接到该独立动力缸,且用形成热封合时所施加的可容许的预定压力范围编制程序。该控制器优选包含一个处理器或电脑,编制该处理器或电脑的程序以接收来自一个或更多该压力换能器的电讯号,决定施加在各包装24的压力,且在必要时,控制一个或多个动力缸18以提高或降低施加在该容器的压力。由热心轴32优选地施加在容器24的压力是在预定范围内的压力。该范围可由本领域的普通技术人员依据包装24和封盖料26所用材料及厚度决定以确保获得适当的密封。由于容器24上密封凸缘39厚度及封盖料26厚度的公差,借助用维持在预定范围内的压力将该热心轴施加在一个受独立支撑的眼镜载具,本发明便可确保将适当压力施加在每一个容器上,使得封盖料26适当地封合在各组中的容器24。因此,倘若有一个压力换能器感测到压力超出预定范围时,则控制相应动力缸使其升高或降下以提高或降低施加在该容器的压力,从而确保达到适当热封合。
现参照图6,在一个现行优选的范例性实施例中,使用一个压力换能器80测量施加在每一个动力缸或升降器18的压力。每一个动力缸18可在一个上部位置和一个下部位置之间加以调整,依赖于三向阀84的位置而定。三向阀84经由压力源管路86接收来自一个传统压力源(图中未示)流体压力。三向阀84使流体管路86与动力缸上部管路82或动力缸下部管路88连接。应当了解到,压力换能器80是分支连接到压力管路82以确定当所有动力缸18处在上部位置时,其所施加的压力。若所测得压力未在预定范围内则启动一个警报器(图中未示)。若该警报器受启动则由控制系统追踪当时在该热封合设备内的包装串列以将之去除。
封盖料26可提供以一个封盖对准记号38,该记号可由该热封合动力缸设备内的光学传感器组件感测,以便确保封盖料26正确定位在该热封合设备内。对准记号38可为该封盖料的一个孔洞或一个透明部分,使得来自光学传感器总成的一个光发射器41发射的光信号,仅在该孔洞与该发射器和接收器之间定义的一个光信号路径对准时,才能由一个光检测器40接收。除了在热封合设备10内的光学传感器总成外,尚有其他可用以将封盖料对准的方式,且封盖料操纵机构的指形握持件28和30设置成能可靠地操纵移动该封盖料到与台座16并因此与载具14正确对准的预定位置。由于该封盖料最好在该热封合步骤期间保持固定,因此对准作业最好无须在封合后作检查。
在优选的实施例中,在封盖料未放置在该热封合设备内的容器上方之前,该封盖料(其最好已预先印好大部分图案)有诸如光焦度、批号及产品有效期限等一些不同产品信息印在上面,并依据要热封合成串列的容器数量将该封盖料切割并穿孔成条。可以用任意已知的方法在该封盖料上进行印刷,其中包括激光印刷或热敏印刷,最好用激光印刷。在封盖料上的预印图案最好提供以可印刷上述信息的区域,例如空白着色方块。在优选实例中,如图7所示,一条封盖料26从一个滚筒91以一定拉伸力在箭头B所示方向上经过封盖料缓冲区92馈送到印刷系统94,且馈送到处于一直线上的切割或切割-穿孔系统96。在此二项作业之间最好有一个监视系统95,该系统利用封盖料26上的一个部分图案检查该封盖料的对准情况。倘若在封盖料26条馈送入印刷系统94及切割-穿孔系统96内,该部分图案并不处于正确位置时,则监视系统95通知控制系统99在该程序中该封盖料并未处于正确位置,控制系统99则指示封盖料馈送辊子97正方向或负方向地调整封盖料位置。因利用监视系统95而使封盖料26持续受到检查并自动重新对准。监视系统95可设置在印刷系统94之前和/或之后,和/或设置在切割-穿孔系统96之内,和/或设置在热封合设备10之内。但,在优选的实施例中,仅设置一个监视系统95,例如,具有定位能力的光学字符鉴别系统,其可检查激光印刷品质的同时,也可检查对准度;因此,监视系统最好设置在印刷系统94之后。借助将印刷系统94及切割-穿孔系统96定位在一条直线上,使得封盖料26在该二系统之间受到通过该直线的一定拉伸力的拉紧,由于具有监视系统95,从而仍然可在此二系统内保持封盖料26的对准度。此外,在优选的实施例中,借助在切割及印刷步骤内小心控制封盖料26以及在热心轴32触及在热封合设备10内的封盖料26之前保持该封盖料固定,便无须在热封合设备10之内或离开之后检查该封盖料的对准度,且在优选实施例中亦不进行此种检查。
此外,在上游输送带12中可使用传统检查系统以确保每一个容器24内放着一个适当或无瑕疵的隐形眼镜。在优选的实施例中,该检查系统设置在该热封合设备的上游,该检查系统为1998年11月5日申请的共同转让的美国专利申请案序号第09/187,579号,名称为“漏失的隐形眼镜的检测系统与方法”(档案编号:VTN-423)中所提出,且该申请案公开的内容,通过引用而结合到本申请中。无论使用传统检测系统或优选检测系统,倘若容器24内已放入一个不恰当或有瑕疵的隐形眼镜,或者例如容器24内未放入隐形眼镜,则可用一个废弃件抓臂61或类似物将支撑该容器的载具14从该检查站下游处的装配线(亦即输送带12)移除,该废弃件抓臂最好用电脑控制,该电脑则用以处理作用在来自该建测系统或检查系统的信息的程序。然后,在独立的载具14移动到热封合设备10前方或其内的位置之前,载具上的含有合格的隐形眼镜的容器便能自动移入由已移除的载具所留下的空位中。一种自动检查隐形眼镜的装置揭示于Martin等人所有的美国专利第5,687,541号中,该专利通过引用而结合到本发明中。
在另一个实施例中,热心轴32可包含多个由独立压模动力缸72控制的独立的致动压模70(图5),每一个压模独立地对部分封盖料26及对安置在载具14的相应的一个容器24施加压力。在此实施例中,与相应台座16接合的动力缸18由压模动力缸72取代,且台座16可为传统单一底座,此底座支撑待热封合的所有载具或支承多个容器的单一载具。该压模动力缸内的压力可由前文参照图2或图6所述的一个或多个压力换能器36监控,而控制器59能接收来自相应的换能器的电信号作回应以控制独立的压模动力缸72,以便将施加在每一个包装的压力维持在预定范围内,或是在压力超出设定范围时,追踪该串列包装以便废弃之。又,最好在热心轴移动至接合位置以致使封盖料触及容器之前,将封盖料支承于容器上方就位。
以上依据本发明说明一种自动包装隐形眼镜用设备的优选范例性实施例,但确信本领域的普通技术人员在参照以上教导之后会建议做出其他修改型、变异型及各种变化。因此,在此应了解到此等修改、变异和变化均在权利要求所限定的本发明的范围之内。

Claims (21)

1.一种用以在多个隐形眼镜容器中包装隐形眼镜的设备,每个所述容器包括一个凹槽、一个围绕所述凹槽的封合凸缘、和一个在所述凹槽内的隐形眼镜,在所述设备中多个所述容器被封合到附近的封盖料,从而形成一套包装,所述设备包含:
多个升降器;
多个位于相互邻近的台座,每一个所述台座独立地由一个所述升降器支撑;
多个独立的载具,所述载具可在所述设备内移动进入所述多个台座中,这样每个所述载具安装在相应的一个所述台座上,单一所述容器安装在单一所述载具上从而提供位于相互邻近的多个所述容器;
一个封盖料操纵系统,其用于将邻近的所述封盖料安置在位于相互邻近的多个所述容器上;和
一个心轴,其配置在所述多个台座上方;
其中,由所述心轴和所述多个台座对所述邻近的封盖料和所述容器的所述凸缘施加压力而将所述邻近的封盖料粘接到所述多个容器上从而形成一套包装。
2.如权利要求1所述的设备,其特征在于:每个载具有一个空腔,每个容器的所述凹槽容纳在所述载具的空腔内。
3.如权利要求1所述的设备,其特征在于:所述封盖料具有一厚度、所述容器具有一厚度,并且其特征还在于所述心轴可选择性地在一个缩回的上部位置和将所述封盖料封合于所述容器的一个接合的下部位置之间移动;在所述心轴处于所述下部位置时,所述心轴施加在每一个所述台座的压力,通过所述各自的升降器维持在预定范围内,从而补偿所述容器厚度及封盖料厚度的公差差异,以确保在所述封盖料与每一个所述容器之间形成适当的封合。
4.如权利要求3所述的设备,其特征在于:其还包含与所述升降器连接的压力换能器,并且其特征还在于所述升降器对所述容器施加由所述压力换能器确定的处于预定范围内的压力。
5.如权利要求1所述的设备,其特征在于:所述心轴被加热。
6.如权利要求1所述的设备,其特征在于:所述封盖料包括印刷,并且其中所述封盖料操纵系统还包括:
一个视觉对准检查系统,所述视觉对准检查系统具有用以检查所述封盖料上的印刷品质和根据所述印刷的位置同时检查所述封盖料在所述设备内的对准度。
7.如权利要求6所述的设备,其特征在于:所述封盖料操纵系统还包括一个印刷系统及一个切割系统,其中所述封盖料在拉伸力下从一滚筒馈送到所述印刷系统和所述切割系统中,而所述视觉对准检查系统则设置在所述印刷系统之后。

所述心轴,其设有多个压模,每个所述压模具有一压模圆筒;
所述压模设置在每个所述载具之上;
其中,所述圆筒对每个所述压模施加处于预定范围内的压力。
12.一种用以在多个隐形眼镜容器中包装隐形眼镜的设备,每个所述容器包括一个凹槽、一个围绕所述凹槽的封合凸缘、和一个在所述凹槽内的隐形眼镜,在所述设备中多个所述容器被封合到附近的封盖料,从而形成一套包装,所述设备包含:
一个可支撑多个载具的台座;
多个独立的载具,所述载具可在所述设备内移动进入所述台座中,从而所述载具位于相互邻近的位置;
一个封盖料操纵系统,其用于将所述封盖料安置在多个所述容器上;和
多个升降器;
多个位于所述台座之上的心轴,每个所述的心轴独立地由一个所述升降器支撑,从而每个所述载具位于每个所述心轴之下;
其中,由所述心轴和所述台座对所述封盖料和每个所述容器的所述凸缘施加压力而将所述封盖料粘接到所述容器上。
13.如权利要求12所述的设备,其特征在于:所述封盖料具有一厚度、所述容器具有一厚度,并且其特征还在于所述心轴可选择性地在一个缩回的上部位置和将所述封盖料封合于所述容器的一个接合的下部位置之间移动;在所述心轴处于所述下部位置时,所述心轴施加在每一个所述台座的压力,通过所述各自的升降器维持在预定范围内,从而补偿所述容器厚度及封盖料厚度的公差差异,以确保在所述封盖料与每一个所述容器之间形成适当的封合。
14.如权利要求12所述的设备,其特征在于:其还包含与所述升降器连接的压力换能器,并且其特征还在于所述升降器对所述容器施加由所述压力换能器确定的处于预定范围内的压力。
15.如权利要求12所述的设备,其特征在于:所述心轴被加热。
16.如权利要求12所述的设备,其特征在于:所述封盖料操纵系统还包括:
一个视觉对准检查系统,所述视觉对准检查系统具有用以检查所述封盖料上的印刷品质和根据所述印刷的位置同时检查所述封盖料在所述设备内的对准度。
17.如权利要求16所述的设备,其特征在于:所述封盖料操纵系统还包括一个印刷系统及一个切割系统,其中所述封盖料在拉伸力下从一滚筒馈送到所述印刷系统和所述切割系统中,而所述视觉对准检查系统则设置在所述印刷系统之后。
18.如权利要求16所述的设备,其特征在于:所述封盖料操纵系统还包括一个印刷系统及一个切割系统,其中所述封盖料在拉伸力下从所述滚筒馈送到所述印刷系统及所述切割系统中,而所述视觉对准检查系统则设置在所述印刷系统与所述切割系统之间。
19.如权利要求16所述的设备,其特征在于:其还包括一个热封合设备,其中所述封盖料在所述视觉对准检查系统之后受机械方式控制,以便防止所述封盖料在所述热封合设备内不对准。
20.如权利要求17所述的设备,其特征在于:所述切割系统设置在所述印刷系统之后。
21.如权利要求13所述的设备,其特征在于:通过所述封盖料操纵系统将所述封盖料固定在所述心轴和所述台座之间位置直至所述心轴接触所述封盖料。
