Description

Honing tool and method for machining a bearing component
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a honing tool capable of supplying a cooling lubricant to a workpiece. The invention also relates to a method for processing a bearing component, in particular a wheel bearing, by honing.
Background
A honing tool is known, for example, from DE 3336626 a 1. Known honing tools are provided for connection to a source of pressurized honing oil. The honing oil is intended to wash away wear of the working surface of the honing stone.
Another honing device comprising a supply conduit for a cutting fluid is disclosed in CN 202399128U. The supply conduit for cutting fluid has an inlet and a dual outlet.
DE 102009040062 a1 discloses a device for finishing annular workpieces, in particular bearing rings, which comprises a device for short-stroke honing, which has an oscillating drive for generating an oscillating movement of a honing stone holder. Furthermore, a tool holder is provided, which is designed to accommodate hard turning tools.
Another device for mechanical finishing of surfaces on rotationally symmetrical workpieces is described in DE 102007054897B 4. The workpiece to be machined may be a bearing ring for a double-row spherical roller bearing. The tool carrier of the known machining device can be moved with short-stroke oscillating movements and long-stroke oscillating movements by means of various drives.
Disclosure of Invention
The object of the invention is to achieve an improvement over the cited prior art in terms of efficient, process-reliable production, in particular when honing bearing components, such as wheel bearing components.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by a honing tool having the features of claim 1. The object is also achieved by a method for machining, i.e. honing, a bearing component, in particular a wheel bearing, according to claim 7. The configuration and advantages of the present invention explained below in conjunction with the machining method are similarly applicable to the honing tool, and the configuration and advantages of the present invention explained in conjunction with the honing tool are similarly applicable to the machining method.
The honing tool comprises a honing stone holder, in which a branched lubricant conduit is provided, which has a straight first section, two sections connected to the first section and positioned obliquely with respect to the first section, and two transition sections adjoining these obliquely positioned sections and arranged in a plane parallel to the first section and spaced apart from the first section, wherein an open end section continues from the transition sections, which end section points in the sense of a surface normal to the following plane: the plane is parallel to the aforementioned plane defined by the position of the transition section and the first section of the lubricant conduit lies in the plane. The term transition section is chosen to distinguish it from other sections of the lubricant conduit and does not imply any information about the deviation of the transition section from the geometric design.
By virtue of the design of the lubricant duct in the honing stone holder, which is described as fork-shaped, it is possible, in particular in the case of a permanent installation of the honing stone in the honing holder, to hone the two roller bearing raceways of the outer ring of the wheel bearing for motor vehicles using one and the same honing tool. With regard to the movement of the honing tool and the workpiece or the bearing part, in particular the wheel bearing outer ring, during machining, it is in principle possible to carry out the usual processes during honing.
Generally, the honing process comprises the following steps:
providing a bearing component, in particular a wheel bearing, i.e. a one-piece outer ring, by means of which two raceways for rolling elements are formed,
providing a honing tool which is formed by a cranked holder and a honing stone fixed in the holder, wherein the longitudinal direction of the holder is given by the axis of the holder and the honing stone is designed as an elongated cuboid which forms a right angle with the longitudinal direction of the holder, and wherein the holder is traversed by a lubricant duct which branches off inside the holder, the outlet opening of which is arranged beside the honing stone,
machining a first raceway of the outer ring by means of a honing tool, wherein a cooling lubricant passes through a lubricant conduit and is guided onto the machined surface in the longitudinal direction of the honing stone,
the second raceway of the outer ring is machined by means of a honing tool, wherein the cooling lubricant is guided through the lubricant conduit again and in the longitudinal direction of the honing stone onto the machined surface.
The indication of "elongated cuboid" in relation to the honing stone refers to the basic shape of the honing stone. Particularly in the machining area, the shape of the honing stone may deviate from the rectangular parallelepiped shape.
With regard to the design of the outer ring of the wheel bearing, reference is made, for example, to DE 102009051930 a 1. Wheel bearings with more than two rows of rolling elements as disclosed for example in DE 102010055405 a1 can also be machined by honing tools.
The crank shape of the honing stone holder, which is important for the availability of two raceways for honing a commercially available wheel bearing, is evident both in the overall shape of the honing stone holder and in the course of the partially divided lubricant ducts running in the honing stone holder. The honing stone is preferably fastened in the honing stone holder between two transition sections of the lubricant conduit which are located in the same plane and parallel to the first section. For the fixing of the honing stone, a pressure block which is arranged inside the honing stone holder and can be adjusted by means of a screw mechanism is particularly suitable.
The two end sections of the lubricant conduit from which the cooling lubricant for use in honing flows out are usually aligned in the longitudinal direction of the honing stone and are therefore transverse to the axis of the honing stone holder. The straight first section of the lubricant duct, i.e. the section extending in the shaft, is generally longer than any other section of the lubricant duct. In contrast, the two end sections are preferably the shortest sections of the lubricant duct.
The two obliquely positioned sections are preferably connected to the first section via a transverse section oriented orthogonally to the first section. In an advantageous manner in terms of production technology, the transverse section, like the two obliquely positioned sections, is closed on one side by a screw in the case of the production of the honing stone holder.
The honing tool can be used particularly effectively because it can be attached to the outer ring from the same end face of the outer ring and partially inserted into the outer ring for machining the first raceway of the outer ring and the second raceway of the outer ring in sequence. In particular, the machined bearing components for wheel bearings are usually roller bearings designed as two-row ball bearings.
Drawings
In the following, exemplary embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail with the aid of the figures. In the drawings:
figure 1 shows a honing stone holder of a honing tool in a perspective view,
figure 2 shows the honing stone holder in a sectional view,
figure 3 shows the machining of the wheel bearing outer race by the honing tool in a first machining stage,
figure 4 shows the machining of the wheel bearing outer race by the honing tool in a second machining stage.
Detailed Description
A honing tool denoted overall by reference numeral 3 is provided for machining the workpiece 2, i.e., the wheel bearing outer race. The apparatus depicted in fig. 3 and 4, which apparatus comprises the workpiece 2, i.e. the wheel bearing component and the honing tool 3, is referred to as a processing apparatus 1 as a whole. In fig. 3, pressure rollers 6 can also be seen, which absorb radial forces.
The workpiece 2 to be machined has a flange 4 which is connected to the wheel carrier when the wheel bearing is mounted. The hole in the flange 4 is indicated with 5. The flange 4 is integrally connected to a cylindrical section 12 in which a first raceway 10 and a second raceway 11 are formed, which are to be machined by the honing tool 3. In the finished state of the wheel bearing, the balls roll as rolling elements on the raceways 10, 11 in a manner known per se. In general, the wheel bearing comprising the wheel bearing component 2 is designed as a double row angular contact roller bearing in an O-type arrangement. With regard to the basic construction of such wheel bearings, reference is made to the prior art cited at the outset.
The honing tool 3 comprises a honing stone holder 7, which is also referred to simply as holder, shown separately in fig. 1 and 2. When using the honing tool 3, the honing stone 8 is fixed in the holder 7 by means of the pressure block 9. The honing stone holder 7 is traversed by a conduit, generally indicated at 16, which is partly divided into two arms, namely a lubricant conduit, which will be discussed in more detail below.
Also referred to simply as lubricant and the cooling lubricant 13 for honing passes through the conduit 16. The lubricant 13 is introduced into the straight long section 17 of the conduit 16 through the connection 18. A straight first section 17 of the conduit 16 extends through the shaft 15 of the honing stone holder 7. At its end opposite the connecting piece 18, the shaft 15 merges into a widened section 19. In this widened section 19, there is a transverse duct 20 which adjoins the first section 17 and is assigned to the duct 16. The two end portions of the transverse duct 20 are connected to angled ducts 23, 24 in an intermediate section 22 that is bent obliquely from the region of the cage 7 formed by the shaft 15 and the widened section 19 connected thereto.
The transverse ducts 20, also called transverse sections, are designed as blind holes closed by screws 21 on the side surfaces of the cage 7. In a corresponding manner, the two oblique lines 23, 24, i.e. the obliquely oriented sections of the lubricant line 16, are closed by screws 25, 26.
The obliquely positioned sections 23, 24 merge into straight short sections 27, 28, respectively, shortly before the screws 25, 26. The two straight short sections 27, 28 are also referred to as transition sections and define the following planes: which plane is arranged parallel to the plane of the straight first section 17 in which the conduit 16 is positioned. Each of the short sections 27, 28 is closed by a screw 29, 30, which is arranged on the underside of the honing stone holder 7, based on the arrangement according to fig. 1.
Above the screws 29, 30, an end section 31, 32 branches off at right angles from the straight short sections 27, 28. The cooling lubricant 13 flows out of the end sections 31, 32, so that it is fed along the honing stone 8 to the machining region. The two machined areas in the form of the raceways 10, 11 are separated from each other by a central inner wall area 14. Due to the crank shape of the honing stone holder 7 comprising the lubricant duct 16, each raceway 10, 11 can be reached from the same end face of the workpiece 2, wherein the lubricant 13 is supplied in each case in a targeted manner to the respective machining region.
