背景技术
各种各样设计的光纤连接件被用于终止光纤电缆,并使电缆易于与其它电缆或其它光纤传输装置相连接。典型的光纤连接件包括一个金属箍,该金属箍用于将单根或多根光纤安装于连接件内并使之位于中心。金属箍可以是由这种材料制造的,如陶瓷。连接件的金属箍支架或其它壳体元件包围住该金属箍,支架或壳体可以是由这种材料制造的,如模压塑料。在壳体或金属箍支架中可以放置一个弹簧,使金属箍被可屈服地向前方偏压,以与配对连接装置的另一个光纤安装金属箍接合。
一对光纤连接件或一个连接件和另一个光纤传输装置通常在适配器中配对连接,适配器使光纤居中以提供较低的插入损失。适配器使连接件连接在一起,从而使其密封的光纤对接。适配器可以是在线式元件,或可将适配器设计成安装在面板、底板、电路板或类似零件上的开口中。
发明内容
本发明旨在对这种光纤装置进行各种改进。
因此,本发明的一个目的是提供一种新颖的改进的适配器组件,该组件用于沿光轴使光纤与相关的光纤传输装置配合,和提供连同适配器组件的光纤连接件组件的组合装置。
在本发明的示例性实例中,该组件包括一个适配器,适配器具有第一接收端和第二接收端。第一接收端适用于接收光轴上的相关的光纤传输装置。至少一对活门元件枢转地安装在适配器第一接收端的相对侧面上。活门元件可枢转地相向移动或相互分开,以关闭和打开第一接收端。活门元件沿横切光轴的方向伸展,以横断任何光束,并在活门元件关闭时防止光能从适配器中跑出。当相关的光纤传输装置接合时,活门元件枢转远离光轴。本发明旨在使活门元件的内端在活门元件关闭时重叠,以保证防止光沿光轴泄漏。

具体实施方式
更详细地参见附图,本发明实施为一个光纤连接件/适配器组件,其包括三个主要元件,即:一个适配器组件,整体表示为10,表示在图1-6中;一个板连接件,整体表示为12,表示在图7-10中;一个电缆连接件,整体表示为14,表示在图11-20中。适配器组件10设计成安装在面板、底板或电路板18的开口16中,如图3所示。电缆连接件14适用于终止一个光纤电缆20。虽然板连接件12安装在电路板22上(图9),但板连接件还可用于终止一个光纤电缆。然而,这里为清楚起见,连接件12将被称为“板”连接件,连接件14将被称为“电缆”连接件。
首先参见图1-6,适配器组件10包括一个壳体,如在图2中所看到的,该壳体由三个元件构成,即:一个中心体或主体,整体表示为24;一个后端接收体,整体表示为26;一个前端接收体,整体表示为28。后接收体26限定了第一接收端30(图3),用于接纳板连接件12。前接收体28限定了第二接收端32(图4),用于接纳电缆连接件14。一对通常为平面矩形的活门34关闭和打开第一接收端30,单个通常为平面矩形的活门36关闭和打开第二接收端32。
如在图2中所示,适配器组件10的后端接收体26通常是箱形的,如在图3中清楚所示,其构成一种端盖,用于套在主体24的后端上。主体24的顶面和底面上的一对倾斜的锁止凸起部38咬合在后接收体26的顶面和底面上的一对锁止开口40中。一对向外张开的导向臂42向后接收体26的后方伸出,用于把板连接件12导入到适配器组件的第一接收端30中。如在图2中清楚所示,在后接收体26内侧每个拐角边上有一个导向槽44,该导向槽44通向后接收体各自侧壁上的孔44a。
适配器组件10的前端接收体28是一个整体矩形套筒,其在主体24的整体矩形的凸出部分46上滑动,并将面板18夹在主体和前端接收体之间,如图3和图4中所示。如图3中清楚所示,凸出部分46的顶面和底面上的一对倾斜的锁止凸起部48咬合在前接收体28的前端横挡50后面,以把接收体固定在主体上。单个活门36通过一对枢转轴颈52枢转安装在前端接收体28上(图2),该枢转轴颈52咬合在接收体的孔54中。扭转弹簧56(图5)具有相对的端部56a和56b,这两个端部分别锚定在活门和接收体上,用于把活门偏压向图3和4中用实线表示的其关闭的位置。如图3中用虚线所表示的,可克服扭转弹簧56的偏压手动打开活门。
适配器组件10的主体24包括多个从部分46上向外凸出的凸缘60向前伸出的安装柱58,用于插入到面板18(图3)的适当的安装孔中(图中未示),以将主体安装在面板的开口16中。提供了一对悬臂式锁止臂62,该臂用于锁止地接合电缆连接件14。
如图2中清楚所示,关闭和打开适配器组件的后接收端30的一对活门34中的每一个包括一对枢轴转动轴64,枢轴转动轴64从活门的相对侧向外伸出。在装配中,这对活门是这样安装在后接收体26中的,即使枢轴转动轴64滑动到导向槽44中,直到枢轴转动轴咬合到后接收体侧壁中的孔44a中。这使活门很容易地安装到适配器组件中。换句话说,后接收体固定活门作为一个子组件,该子组件可作为一个单元装配到主体24上。如图3中所示,一个U形扭转弹簧66架在每个活门34的背面上,扭转弹簧的端部锚定在后接收体上,以把活门偏压向其关闭的位置。如图3所示,作为对板连接件12插入到适配器组件的后接收端30中的响应,活门围绕枢轴转动轴枢转到打开位置。
本发明旨在当活门处于其关闭的位置时,活门34沿其内边,如在图3的68处,相互重叠。这可靠地保证防止光沿光轴69泄漏,光轴69沿适配器组件中心延伸。灰尘也不会进入到适配器组件的内部。图3所示为上活门重叠在下活门的外侧。然而,根据关闭的顺序,下活门也可以重叠在上活门的外侧。最后,活门被沿其内边斜切,如在70处,其目的在后面描述。
与使用单个门相比,使用一对相对的活门具有很多优点。第一,两个门节省了相当大的轴向空间,否则将需要该空间来容纳单个门的整个枢转动作,而单个门的大小将是一对门中每一个门的二倍。第二,由于可使用较小的弹簧,所以更容易打开两个较小的门。连接件被门偏压向中心,因此大部分力作用在门边附近,而使用单个门则需要作用在中心线一侧的力大于作用在中心线另一侧的力。第三,一对门34中每个门的滑动接触表面是单个门滑动接触表面的一半。使用单个门时,在门外侧聚积的灰尘被一直带到连接件间的界面区域上。使用两个门时,在门外表面中聚积的任何灰尘被主要沉积在板连接件的侧面上,而不会被板连接件的配合表面带到内部。
主体24、后端接收体26、前端接收体28中的每一个,活门34中的每一个和单个活门36都是整块结构,其由绝缘材料整体铸造成,如塑料或类似材料。
图7、9和10所示为处于装配完状态的板连接件12,图8所示为板连接件的各种元件。特别是,图8表明,板连接件包括一个内部的两部分的壳体,整体表示为72,该壳体包括一个底壳体部分74和一个盖壳体部分76;一个外板架,整体表示为78;还包括一个前护套80,一个金属箍82,一个销固定器84和一对定位销86。在装配中,多纤光缆87(图9和10)在金属箍82中终止;定位销86锚定在销固定器84中,如在图10中清楚所示,定位销穿过金属箍伸出,该电缆、金属箍、销和销固定器的子组件安装在壳体底部74中,其位置如图10所示。销的头部86a锚定在销固定器84的通道84a中。一对螺旋弹簧88环绕在销固定器84的柱84b上并与壳体底部74的壁74a相邻接,以在板连接件中向前偏压销固定器、金属箍和电缆。如在图10的90处,在金属箍82和壳体底部74之间提供了一个对接肩以限定该子组件的前方极限位置。如在图9中清楚所示,壳体盖76的前缘76a位于壳体底部74的横挡74b下面,以为壳体盖向下枢转到壳体底部上提供一个枢轴。然后压接环92压接在壳体件的后端,以将壳体件、金属箍、销固定器、定位销和光纤电缆固定在装配装配好的状态,压接环可用金属材料制造。
板连接件12的外板架78按箭头“A”的方向装配在内壳体72上(图8)。在装配中,外架贴靠在内壳体上,如在图10的94处,一对锁止臂96向壳体底部74的外侧悬臂伸出,用于把外板架固定在内壳体上,如图10所示。外板架78包括多个悬着的板安装柱78a,如图9中所示,柱78a用于插入到板22的安装孔22a中,以把板连接件安装到板上。外板架具有一对侧臂97,适配器组件10的后接收体26的导向臂42与臂97的外侧配合并移动到外板架侧面上的槽78a中。
板连接件12的前护套80通过前护套内部的锁止凸起部98(图9)和壳体盖76顶面上的对接肩100安装到内壳体72的前端上。一对螺旋弹簧夹在壳体底部与护套之间和壳体盖与护套之间,以向前方偏压护套。螺旋弹簧位于壳体底部和壳体盖内的槽内。在图8的壳体盖76中可看到槽101之一。一个类似的槽位于壳体底部。在图9中可看到螺旋弹簧的顶部,如在103处。
本发明的一个新颖的特征在图9中得到最好的表示,其中可以看到,如用箭头“B”所指出的,护套80的前端是错开的。换句话说,与护套的顶边80b相比,底边80a向前伸出一个距离,距离用箭头“B”指出。因此,比较图9和图3,当以箭头“C”的方向把板连接件12插入到适配器组件10的后接收端30中时(图3),护套80的底边80a将在护套顶边80b接合上活门之前与下活门34接合。同样,当从适配器组件中拉出板连接件时,由于板接连件的错开的前配合端,上活门将在下活门的枢转动作之前枢转到其关闭的位置。尽管顺序打开活门不是那么关键的,但重要的是,一个活门应在另一个活门之前关闭,使得活门的边缘不会卡住或抵靠,防止完全关闭。通过使护套80的前边80a和80b错开,保证了门的顺序关闭,以确保门完全重叠横过光轴69。
当板连接件12插入到适配器组件10的后接收端30中时,护套80与活门34接合,必须提供一种措施以防止定位销86的尖端与门接合。如上所述,门的内边在70处被斜切。这提供了一个凹进的区域,定位销的尖端伸入到该凹进的区域中,而不会与门接合。该凹进的区域还保护了金属箍82前面的光纤的磨光的端部。
电缆连接件14表示在图11-20中,其结构与板连接件12非常类似,电缆连接件14也包括由壳体底部102(图15和16)和壳体盖104(图17和18)构成的内部的两部分的壳体。与板连接件相似,如在图13中清楚所示,盖的前缘104a位于壳体底部的横挡102a的下方,以构成一个枢轴,盖围绕该枢轴枢转地向下安装到底部上。壳体的两个部分沿大体壳体的长度伸展,直到壳体的后端,在壳体的后端压接一个压接环106以把壳体部分固定在一起,压接环106可以是由金属材料制造的。在图19中,在106a处,所示的压接环是压接好的。
此外,与板连接件12相似,电缆连接件14包括一个用于终止多光纤电缆20的光纤的金属箍108,锚定一对定位销114的后端114a的销固定器112,其中定位销从金属箍中伸出,一对螺旋弹簧116,用于向装配好的壳体部分的前方偏压销固定器、定位销、金属箍和电缆。
当向壳体底部104上装配盖壳体102时,多个导向柱102b(图15)位于壳体盖104上的多个导向孔104b和导向凹进部分104c(图17)中。图20表示了导向柱102b位于导向孔104b中。
为把壳体底部102和壳体盖104固定在装配好的状态,壳体盖包括一对横向间隔开的钩状锁止臂110,臂110咬合在壳体底部102的横挡112后面。在图19中最好地表示了该互补的相互接合的锁止装置。如图14中所示,当壳体底部和盖完全装配好时,锁止臂将跨骑在电缆20的光纤束20a的相对侧113上。因此,锁止臂位于两部分壳体外轮廓的内部,这样不需要扩大壳体以提供锁止臂。两个壳体部分的每一个,即壳体底部102和壳体盖104,是由塑料材料或类似材料铸造的整体结构。
弹性材料或类似材料制造的后保护罩114位于电缆连接件14的后端上。保护罩是一个由有些弹性的材料制造的整体结构,以在连接件的后端和电缆周围提供一个应力消除装置。保护罩的后端包括一个指抓式外筋114a,以使得能够容易地抓住电缆连接件并把连接件插入到到适配器组件10中。保护罩通常是中空的,并包括内锁止114b(图14),内锁止114b用于咬合在两个壳体部分的锁止凸缘116后面。
拉锁止件118环绕在电缆连接件14的内部的两部分壳体上,用于把电缆连接件锁止到适配器组件10上。一对螺旋弹簧120(图13)位于槽121中(图15和17),其以箭头“D”的方向向前偏压拉锁止件。当将电缆连接件插入到适配器组件中时,悬臂式锁止臂62(图2)的前端将接合拉锁止件118的前端,并克服螺旋弹簧120以与箭头“D”的方向相反的方向向后偏压拉锁止件,直到悬臂的锁止臂咬合在壳体102的锁止肩122后面为止(图14和15)。锁止臂62具有向内偏移的锁止钩62a(图2),该锁止钩62a咬合在锁止肩122后面,于是拉锁止件118被螺旋弹簧120向前偏压回来。然后拉锁止件的前端移动到锁止臂的钩状端部62a的上面,以防止锁止臂从臂122后的其锁住的位置移动开。当希望从适配器组件10中脱开电缆连接件14时,按与箭头“D”相反的方向向后拉拉锁止件118,于是锁止臂62就可自由地从锁止肩122横向向外移出,并允许电缆连接件从适配器组件中拉出。

Claims (8)
1.一种适配器组件,用于沿光轴匹配相关光纤传输装置(12)的光纤,该组件包括:
一适配器(10),其具有第一接收端(30)和第二接收端(32),第一接收端(30)适用于接收所述光轴(69)上的相关光纤传输装置(12);
至少一对活门元件(34)枢转地安装在适配器所述第一接收端(30)的相对侧面上,并可枢转地相向移动或相互分开,以关闭和打开第一接收端,活门元件(34)沿横切光轴的方向伸展,以横断任何光束,并在活门元件关闭时防止光能从适配器中跑出,在相关的光纤传输装置(12)接合时,活门元件(34)枢转远离光轴,活门元件(34)的内端在活门元件关闭时重叠(68),以保证防止光沿光轴(69)泄漏;
所述适配器包括一个主体(24)和一个锁止在主体上的端部接收体(26),活门元件(34)安装在该端部接收体上。

一主体(24),其包括一穿过面板上的开口从面板一侧伸出的部分,该主体还包括至少一个安装柱(58),该安装柱用于插入到面板上的适当的安装孔中;
一端部接收体(28),该接收体从面板的相反侧锁止在主体(24)上并把面板(18)夹在主体和端部接收体之间,为所述安装柱(58)提供了备用的安装装置。
