背景技术
电线绝缘的增塑剂选择取决于绝缘材料和护套或导电覆盖层的性能规格。性能规格和测试(例如加速老化测试)等是本领域公知的,并且由美国保险商试验所(Underwriters Laboratory)方法(例如UL 83)描述。例如根据UL 83,90℃或105℃等级的导电绝缘材料,在136℃老化之后必须保持最小拉伸性能。

电缆
本申请公开了由前述任一组合物形成的绝缘层。
本申请还公开了一种电缆,包括导体;以及围绕导体的绝缘层,该绝缘层由前述任一树脂组合物形成。
电缆可以形成多种配置,包括单芯电缆、多芯电缆、托盘电缆(tray cable)、连锁铠装电缆(inter-locked armored cable)和连续波纹焊接电缆(continuouslycorrugated welded cable)构造。这种电缆中的导体可以被一个或多个绝缘层和/或护套层包围。在一个实施例中,这些绝缘层或护套层中的至少一个可以由所公开的组合物形成。
电缆的导体或导电元件通常可以包括任何合适的导电材料。例如,通常导电的金属,例如铜、铝、铜合金、铝合金(例如铝-锆合金)或任何其它导电金属可以用作导电材料。如将理解的,导体可以是实心的,或者可以由多个较小的导体绞合和编织而成。导体的尺寸可根据特定目的而定。例如,在某些实施例中,导体的范围可以从1kcmil导体到1,500kcmil导体,在某些实施例中,从4kcmil导体到1,000kcmil导体,在某些实施例中,从50kcmil导体到500kcmil导体,或者在某些实施例中,从100kcmil导体到500kcmil导体。也可以选择包括这种导体的电缆的电压等级。例如,在某些实施例中电缆可具有约1kV至约150kV的电压等级,或在某些实施例中具有约2kV至约65kV的电压等级,该电缆包括1kcmil导体至1,500kcmil导体和由合适的热固性组合物形成的绝缘层。在某些实施例中,电缆也可满足ICEA测试标准S-94-649-2004的中压电气特性。

Comp1的制备
向烧瓶中加入对苯二甲酸二甲酯DMT(388.4g,2.0mol)、2-(2-丁氧基乙氧基)乙醇DB(405.6g,2.5mol)、2-乙基己醇2EH(325.6g,2.5mol)和四异丙醇钛(0.56g,1.97mmol)。烧瓶配备有填充蒸馏塔、蒸汽分配蒸馏头、冷凝器、馏分切割器和接收器。在N2气氛下将反应混合物加热至回流,以保持至少65℃的蒸汽温度,以从反应中除去甲醇。回流反应混合物并收集MeOH(~120mL)。将反应混合物加入烧瓶中并加热(90℃),并向混合物中加入2.5%NaOH(300g)。然后将混合物加热(90℃)30分钟。然后除去水层。用去离子水(300g)洗涤有机层。然后将有机层真空浓缩(~3mmHg,150℃)。浓缩的材料在150℃、50mmHg下蒸汽汽提1小时。然后将浓缩的材料在150℃下经受低大气压(~3mmHg)以干燥该材料。浓缩的物质用活性炭(2g)处理并搅拌1小时。然后通过硅藻土过滤该材料,得到Comp1。
通过气相色谱(GC)比较三种产物的相对面积%,来确定Comp1的比例。GC样品使用HP-1色谱柱(50m×0.2mm×50μm)运行,入口温度为280℃,烘箱温度倾斜曲线为80℃下保持2分钟,随后以20℃/分钟从80℃升至200℃,在200℃保持2分钟,20℃/分钟升至280℃,并在280℃保持16分钟。组合物中酯的相对比例为Ex 1-1(49.1%)、Ex 1-2(18.5%)和Ex 1-3(32.4%),如表2中进一步描述。
通过调整Comp1的制备程序合成表2中的组合物(Comp2)。为组合物中的每个组分提供wt%、GC柱上的保留时间和M+。
表2.
表3提供了用于比较PVC Comp1和2以及PVC Comp1-3的PVC制剂。制剂的组分在Flackteck Speedmixer中混合。根据需要,PVC制剂用于制备膜,该膜用于以下研究或研究其特性。使制剂在190℃下经受双辊磨机,随后使用Carver压机压制成35密耳(~0.889mm)的板,从而制备板。通过肉眼检查板(或膜)以进行质量控制。

表4中包括了比较PVC Comp 1和2以及PVC Comp 1和2的黏度。使用AR 2000旋转流变仪测定黏度。测量是在25℃下用40mm铝平行板进行的。
较低的干燥时间可以导致复合时间的减少和复合过程生产率的提高。如表4所示,PVC Comp 1和2显示出远低于比较PVC Comp 1和2的干燥时间,这可归因于它们的低黏度和高极性。干燥时间根据ASTM D2396-94测定。
更高的效率可允许配方设计师减少增塑剂的量或增加填料的负载以实现最佳的性价比概况。较低的增塑剂负载也可有助于改善最终绝缘化合物的阻燃性和绝缘电阻。表4显示了由对比PVC Comp 1-3和PVC Comp 1-3形成的膜的肖氏A硬度。如通过肖氏A硬度测量的,相比于比较PVC Comp 1和2,PVC Comp 1和2显示出好得多的增塑效率,这可以改善PVC化合物在挤出过程中的加工性能。关于比较PVC Comp 3和PVC Comp 3,相比于仅含有TOTM作为增塑剂的比较PVC Comp 3,含有TOTM/Comp 2(1:1)的PVC Comp 3显示出降低的肖氏A硬度。各自的肖氏A硬度是根据ASTM 2240-15测定的。

电线绝缘要求PVC中增塑剂的高持久性。环折析出(Loop spew)试验通常用于研究在聚合物基体中增塑剂的渗出倾向。如表5所示,Comp1和2均显示与PVC良好的相容性,并且在7天的试验期后没有观察到渗出迹象。

由于它们的高效率和良好的热老化性能,本申请中公开的增塑剂组合物在高温等级电线和电缆产品中显示出出乎意料的潜力。老化结果示于表6中。由PVC Comp 1和2形成的膜均通过UL 83对90℃等级的要求,且具有良好的余量。此外,由含有较高比例Ex 1-2的PVC Comp 2形成的膜显示出显著改进的加热老化性能。据信,性能的提高是由于Ex1-2的原因,因为其相对于Ex 1-1和Ex 1-3的分子量最高,因此较高浓度的Ex 1-2可有效降低增塑剂化合物的挥发性。通过调节Ex 1-1、Ex 1-2和Ex 1-3的比例,可以进一步微调热老化和其它性能,在单釜反应的情况下,这可以通过在形成增塑剂组合物的反应过程中调节DB和2EH醇的摩尔比来实现。
关于由PVC Comp 3形成的膜,该制剂含有Comp 2和TOTM的1:1混合物。当老化的样品在136℃下经受7天,很容易通过105℃的温度等级。
