Description

以模具斜切导管的方法
技术领域
本发明系有关于一种医疗装置的成形方法,更详而言之,尤指在管状导管产品端部形成斜向尖端的方法。
背景技术
长时期以来都了解导管的锥型端部是周缘性全范围地插入静脉内,以减轻插入静脉时的痛楚。同时也发现到,现今大多数的产品在导管的端部具有双斜面。第一道斜面的锥度为3度,第二道斜面的锥度则为27度。这些端部可利用激光切割来成形,例如美国专利第5,425,903号所揭露,或由杜夫特的美国专利第4,661,300号来模制成形。
杜夫特的专利揭露出一种模制方法,其采用了单一步骤作业来形成及剪截导管。即导管套在轴棒上,且导管材料延伸超过轴棒,然后将此总成插入加热过的模具中,以形成导管的外表面,该轴棒于是被推进到一个与模具表面卡制的一点,并且在此一简单的步骤中剪下齐平部。
但该单一步骤工艺则具有明显的缺点,工具使用寿命减短,因为模具及轴棒都是做为切割装置使用,因此必需相互啮合,进而造成了磨损。这表示在使用期间,在导管上形成的外表面会因为轴棒与切割模具内表面的接触磨损而变得不一样。再者,必需更换工具以维持轴棒与模具间的尖锐,以利切割作业的进行。
发明内容
本发明系有关于一种在静脉注射导管端部进行斜切的方法。该方法包括将管状导管套在一支轴棒上,且该轴棒在工艺的至少部分期间支承该导管。至少在一实施例中,该轴棒延伸超过该管状导管的端部。提供一模具及将模具加热至足够的温度来软化该管状导管材料。该模具包括有锥型内模具表面。
该导管通过插入套有导管的轴棒而被插入模具中。该轴棒可完全贯穿模具,并由另一端伸出。
将套有导管的轴棒插入模具内,并通过让材料与模具的内表面接触可让导管材料熔化及流动。于是形成了导管的即定外表面和一个从导管顶端延伸的齐平部。然后将轴棒自模具内抽出,及将第二轴棒或裁刀插入仍在模具中的导管内。这支轴棒或裁刀较第一轴棒具有较大的直径,于是通过将第二轴棒朝前推进直到轴棒与模具部分接触,则导管端部的齐平部即可被修剪。
在本发明的一个优选实施例中,用于18规静脉注射导管的一轴棒的直径介于0.8382毫米至0.8636毫米(0.0330英寸至0.0340英寸),及该第二轴棒的直径介于0.9271毫米至0.9525毫米(0.0365英寸至0.0375英寸)。而在又一优选实施例中该导管由聚四氟乙烯所形成,及该模具的加热范围介于摄氏343度至399度(华氏650至750度)。
在本发明的另一实施例中,管状导管套在一轴棒上,及提供一前述的模具。然后将轴棒连同导管一起插入模具内,以让导管材料熔化及沿着模具的内表面流动。该导管材料延伸超过所需要导管的端部而形成一部分齐平部。之后将带有齐平部的导管自模具内移出,然后再插入一切割模具内。于是通过将轴棒插入切割模具内,直到轴棒与切割模具的内表面接触,以将该齐平部由导管端部处切除。
在此工艺中,用在切割模具-切割作业中的轴棒可以与模制作业中的轴棒不同,因此限制了在模制作业中的轴棒的磨损。作为另一种选择,在模制及裁切作业中可采用同一轴棒。可想象到在模制步骤中,轴棒可完全贯穿模具,并且穿出模具第二端的开口,但仍然容许齐平部延伸超过所需导管端部的一端。

具体实施方式
导管可利用不同的材料制成,及通常利用聚合物管挤出成形。现今最常用来制造导管的材料则为聚四氟乙烯及聚亚胺脂。
整个工艺将以概述的方式来描述。但是对于本领域技术人员可很容易地决定各项工艺参数。例如,可选择模制温度以获得适当的模制特性,欲又不会破坏到导管的材料(由于在受热下)或是使导管材料过度流动(因为过热)。
本发明方法的第一实施例示于图1及图2中。在该方法中,管状导管1,例如一聚四氟乙烯(PIFE)导管,套在一支特定直径(例如20规1.143毫米即0.045英寸的外径)的支承轴棒2上。该轴棒2采用不锈钢制成,且可由已知的气动式作动器、步进马达或类似装置来移动。设置一具有锥型内表面的模具3,该内表面与导管外表面的最终形状相符。该模具由钢材成形或加工,及具有一贯穿其内部的开口。该开口具有两个锥面,第一锥面的锥度5为3度,并沿着管的远端延伸,而第二锥面6的锥度则为27度且位于管的端部。
在工艺中,模具3被加热至接近摄氏360度(华氏680度),然后导管1及轴棒2被插入模具3内。导管材料与模具3的接触则使导管加热至其熔点,并使材料开始在模具3内流动,并且部分地由模具第二端部的开口7处流出。轴棒2的直径则使轴棒可完全地贯穿模具,且不会接触到模具表面。在导管的端部会形成一齐平部8,该部分将于稍后自导管上切除。
将所述轴棒由模具3内抽出,并将导管材料留在模具内。第二轴棒9或冲头则于稍后插入导管1内。第二轴棒9的直径大于该第一轴棒2,例如对于18规静脉注射导管时为0.9398毫米(0.037英寸)。该轴棒9的尺寸设计成使其不会贯穿模具第二端部的开口,反而可与模具3的内表面啮合以便将齐平部8从导管端部冲下和切除。该第二轴棒9于是插入导管1内,直到第二轴棒与模具内表面啮合,进而将导管端部的齐平部切除。在完成此一动作后,将轴棒及导管由模具3内抽出,且模具3再度被加热以进行第二作业。该导管于是继续地进行处理,直到完成最终导管产品。
本发明的第二实施例则参照图3及图9描述。此实施例最好被称为两阶段工艺。
第二实施例中,导管1套在轴棒12上以插入模具13内,其方式与第一实施例相同。该导管1在套合于轴棒12上时,部分的导管材料会延伸超过轴棒。然后再将轴棒12连同导管1一并插入加热的模具13中。该模具13则与第一实施例所述的类似,且同样地加热至摄氏360度(华氏680度)。如图4所示、轴棒12在插入时,并不会与模具内表面接触,而导管材料则被加热并与模具内表面相符合,并形成延伸超出导管端部的齐平部14。然后将模制成形的导管及轴棒12同模具中抽出及冷却。最好是先让模具冷却或在半冷却时将导管材料抽出,然后再让导管材料在模具外完全冷却。
如图6所示,模制后的导管于是被插入第二工位的切割模具15内。例如,这可以是转盘上的第二工位,其中套有导管1的同一轴棒12则由模具位置移动至与切割模具15对齐的位置。然后轴棒及模制后的导管被插入切割模具15中,使得轴棒与模具内表面啮合,进而将齐平部自导管的端部切除。
当齐平部从导管切除后,最终成形的导管及轴棒则由模具中移出,并将导管自轴棒脱离。利用这种方式,第一工位的重要模制内表面便不会与轴棒接触,于是便不会出现现有技术中因为轴棒与模具的接触所造成的磨损。
再者,切割模具的制作材料可仅考虑其硬度,而无需考虑其导热。利用这种方式,模具可在其热容量/导热性上最佳化,而切割模具则可在其硬度及承受因为轴棒接触造成的磨损上最佳化。
本发明配合了较佳实施例来说明。而这些实施例可做各种修改及改变。例如,可采用管状利刃来取代进行切割的轴棒,或是切割模具也可采用刀片取代。

Claims (4)

1.一种斜切静脉注射导管端部的方法,包括以下步骤:
a)将一管状导管套在一轴棒上,其中该轴棒延伸超过该导管要削尖的一端;
b)将一具有锥型内表面的模具加热;
c)将载有该导管的轴棒插入该模具内,以使该导管材料与该内表面啮合;
d)容许该导管材料熔化及在该内表面处流动以形成该导管预定形状的外表面,带有一延伸超出该导管端部的齐平部;
e)将该轴棒由该模具内取出;
f)将具有较大直径的第二轴棒插入该导管及该模具内;
g)将该第二轴棒朝前推进直到该第二轴棒与该模具啮合及切割该导管的端部。
2.根据权利要求1的方法,其中用于18规静脉注射导管的所述一轴棒的直径介于0.8382毫米至0.8636毫米,及该第二轴棒的直径介于0.9271毫米至0.9525毫米。
3.根据权利要求1的方法,其中该导管由聚四氟乙烯所形成,及该模具的加热范围介于摄氏343度至399度。
4.根据权利要求1的方法,其中该模具包括一敞开的第二端,及当插入该模具时,该第一轴棒的尺寸刚好可完全通过该模具及由该第二端穿出。
