Abstract

Description
技术领域
本发明涉及通过使用气体分离膜从气体混合物捕集CO2。特别地,本发明涉及CO2选择性聚合物膜和生产这样的膜的方法。本发明还涉及所述CO2选择性聚合物膜的用途。
背景/现有技术
从烟气流捕集CO2的现有技术,例如常规的吸收或吸附,具有高的能耗和总成本且意味着在以下主要市场(按CO2排放量)工业实施的重大阻碍:能源部门(来自发电厂的烟气)、石油和天然气(天然气脱硫)、工业(来自例如水泥、炼钢的烟气)。此外,胺吸收过程中使用的化学物意味着对环境的额外污染源。
用于气体分离的膜技术已经被广泛使用。尽管聚合物膜是经济的且技术上是有用的,但它们受限于它们的性能。渗透率和选择性之间的平衡影响了聚合物膜用于从烟气流分离CO2的用途,并且CO2分离由于低渗透率而变得非常贵,所述低渗透率需要极其大的膜面积,导致高投资成本。
在膜科学中,人们认为为了选择性地分离气体混合物中的两种气体,需要制备致密的、选择性的(倾向于所述气体中的一种)聚合物层,其是:
1)均一的(由同种聚合物材料制成)
2)不同聚合物的掺合物,或
3)聚合物与颗粒的混合物。
由于聚合物的固有化学结构,所述致密聚合物层可以是CO2选择性的;所述聚合物在其聚合物链中具有亲CO2基团例如胺,和/或它们具有添加的颗粒(碳纳米管、二氧化硅、沸石等)以增强给定聚合物的CO2选择性或渗透率。
为了形成薄层(即在200nm至100μm的范围内),在溶液中将所述均一的聚合物(1)、不同聚合物的掺合物(2)、或聚合物与颗粒的混合物(3)与溶剂混合并浇铸/涂覆/沉积为薄膜,所述薄膜蒸发并形成致密的选择性膜。所述膜的聚合物层的组成以及相对于从膜的进料侧到渗透物侧的气体分子方向的亲CO2基团或亲CO2颗粒的空间安排/排列(垂直或水平)是相对随机的,并且尤其取决于所述组分的混合、聚合物与亲CO2实体(化学基团、颗粒或其他聚合物)的相容性;重力、溶剂的蒸发速度、颗粒集团化等。
由于与其他气体例如N2和O2(烟气、呼吸)、CH4(天然气、沼气)或H2(合成气)相比更高的CO2溶解度和/或扩散系数(溶液扩散机制),聚合物膜从巨大且稀释的流(~1-20%CO2)中分离CO2。相比于其他气体(N2、O2、CH4、H2或其他气体)的CO2选择性以及CO2渗透率是由所述膜材料的固有性质赋予的。用于将气体分子运输通过膜的驱动力是由进料侧与渗透物侧之间的分压差或浓度差引起的,所述分压差或浓度差是通过在所述膜的渗透物侧使用扫气或真空而创建的。
膜分离的一个选择是使用促进运输膜。最广为人知的使用促进运输的膜类型是具有移动的促进运输载体的支撑液体膜(SLM)。对这些膜的研究已经有二十多年且已知它们同时具有高气体渗透率和高气体选择性。然而,SLM膜的严重降解问题例如溶液的蒸发和从膜中渗漏以及载体的失活已限制了它们进一步的开发和应用。
气体分离膜仍具有改进CO2分离性能的需要,以便于对于工业应用特别是在混合物中CO2浓度低、低于20%(优选地低于10%,低于5%或甚至低于1%)时有成本效益。由于缺乏驱动力,这些低CO2浓度非常难以分离。
发明内容
本发明提供一种CO2选择性气体分离膜,其包含透气性或多孔支撑物层;和至少一个用具有亲CO2基团的聚合物链进行表面修饰的透气性聚合物层,其中所述透气性聚合物层在其表面上具有亲CO2基团的空间受控分布。所述透气性聚合物对所有气体都是可渗透的,包括CO2。它可以包含亲水性或水蒸气渗透性聚合物。所述亲CO2基团可以选自胺、环氧乙烷、醚、酰胺或羟基。在一个实施方式中,所述亲CO2基团是选自乙二胺(EDA)、二乙三胺和三乙四胺的胺。所述透气性聚合物优选地选自:全氟聚合物例如聚[4,5-二氟-2,2-二(三氟甲基)-1,3-二氧杂环戊烯-共-四氟乙烯];PTMSP(聚[1-(三甲基甲硅烷基)-1-丙炔]);PMP(聚(4-甲基-2-戊炔));PDMS(聚二甲基硅氧烷)和PVA(聚乙烯醇)。优选地,所述膜具有亲CO2基团的空间受控分布的刷状结构。
本发明还提供一种制备CO2选择性气体分离膜的方法,所述方法包含以下步骤:在多孔或透气性支撑物层上沉积至少一个透气性聚合物层以形成致密膜,以及用具有亲CO2基团的聚合物链对所述致密膜进行表面修饰以在其表面上获得亲CO2基团的空间受控分布。
在一个实施方式中,用亲CO2基团对所述致密膜进行表面修饰包括UV接枝。在一个实施方式中,在第一步骤中,通过UV辐射将引发剂接枝到所述至少一个聚合物层上以形成接枝点,并且在第二步骤中,将单体添加到所述接枝点并通过UV辐射进行聚合以形成接枝聚合物。如果所述单体不包含亲CO2基团,可以通过将接枝聚合物与包含这样的亲CO2基团的化合物反应来引入所述亲CO2基团。在优选的实施方式中,所述方法包含以下连续步骤:沉积聚合物层和用亲CO2基团修饰其表面以获得在所述选择性聚合物层的顶部、中间和底部具有亲CO2基团的多层结构,导致亲CO2基团的空间受控分布贯穿全部膜厚度而不仅仅在表面上。
本发明还涉及本发明的气体分离膜用于从气体混合物分离CO2的用途。

发明的详细说明
在本发明中,通过引入亲CO2基团修饰已经形成的非选择性/低CO2选择性致密膜的表面使其变成CO2选择性。在所述透气性聚合物表面上的亲CO2基团以空间受控的方式分布。以这种方式,可以通过不同方法例如UV接枝和化学修饰对支撑物上的非选择性聚合物层进行修饰以使其变成CO2选择性。
发明人发现某些亲CO2基团的使用提供了极佳的结果。优选地使用具有亲CO2基团的C1-C10直链或支链分子。特别地使用具有亲CO2基团的C1-C6直链或支链分子,或者甚至更优选地使用具有亲CO2基团的C1-C3直链或支链分子。所述亲CO2基团可以选自例如胺、环氧乙烷、醚、酰胺或羟基。已发现使用大于约C10的更长链的分子引起致密层的交联和形成,并因此引起较低的CO2通量。在一个实施方式中,所述亲CO2基团是短链(C1-C3)胺例如乙二胺(EDA)、二乙三胺和三乙四胺。
本发明提供了具有CO2载体/亲CO2基团的清晰几何结构的气体分离膜。所述结构是开口的且所述聚合物链形成刷状结构。
膜的CO2渗透率通常用巴勒(Barrer)表示。1000巴勒代表对于1μm厚的膜2.7m3(STP)/(m2 bar h)的渗透量。在本公开中,术语“高CO2渗透率”意指所述CO2渗透率应该高于1000巴勒。术语“低CO2选择性”意指CO2相对于另一种气体(例如CH4、N2)的渗透率比率低于20。
本发明涉及包含至少一个CO2选择性聚合物层的气体分离膜,所述CO2选择性聚合物层是通过引入亲CO2基团进行表面修饰的透气性聚合物层。所述表面修饰导致在所述透气性聚合物层上亲CO2基团的空间受控分布。
图1大体上显示了表面修饰的气体分离膜的分离原则。所述膜包含快速渗透区域,其可以由具有高CO2渗透率和低CO2选择性的聚合物制成。所述聚合物层被涂覆在提供机械强度的适合的支撑物层上。所述高密度载体区域包含超薄层(在图1中是两层;并且在图2中是致密堆叠有亲CO2基团例如图1中的NH2的三层)。在表面上的高浓度胺基导致提高的CO2扩散速率并减少了CO2通过膜的传质阻力。这些层也可以部分阻挡非反应性气体例如N2、CH4、O2和H2从进料扩散到渗透物。图1中的气体CO2和CH4的箭头的尺寸说明了在膜每一侧的气体浓度。
图3显示了用于膜表面修饰的两种不同的方法,这取决于用于膜制备的聚合物的类型:有或没有官能团(如在例如聚乙烯醇中的-OH基团)。所述膜包含沉积在透气性或多孔支撑物层上的透气性聚合物层。
1.接入法(Grafting onto)适用于具有与待连接(接枝)至其表面的聚合物(待接枝的聚合物是分开合成的或购买的)的末端官能团反应的官能团的聚合物
2.接出法(Grafting from)适用于没有官能团的聚合物。在此情况下,通过引发剂促进所述单体偶联至所述膜表面,这在第一步骤中在所述膜表面上创建了反应性位点(例如在UV辐射下)。随后,在第二步骤中所述表面引发剂起始了所添加单体的接枝聚合(在UV辐射下)并从所述膜表面生长新聚合物。
通过使用上述“接入法”和“接出法”技术中的任何技术,获得刷状图案。当与“接入法”相比较时,通过使用“接出法”实现了更高密度的聚合物链。在致密聚合物膜上接枝的CO2选择性层“刷状”图案具有比在所述致密膜表面上通过聚合物涂覆或通过聚合物沉淀制造的选择性层更高的渗透率。
在所述膜表面上的聚合物刷是通过使用顺序法创建的。在第一步骤中,在所述膜表面上创建活性位点(接枝点),聚合将在所述位点处开始。通过在UV辐射下用引发剂处理所述膜在膜表面上引入所述接枝点。在第二步骤中,通过自由基聚合在所述膜表面上生长聚合物刷。所述膜表面上聚合物链的密度(或者数量)与第一步骤中创建的活性点的密度(或者数量)以及接枝的聚合物链之间的位阻效应相关。如果连接的聚合物不包括亲CO2基团,可以在另一步骤中通过将所述接枝的聚合物链与具有亲CO2基团例如乙二胺(EDA)的C1-C3烷基化合物反应来引入这些基团。
适合用于生长聚合物链的单体必须满足两个条件:
1.具有不干扰聚合步骤的官能团,以及
2.在第三步骤中能够与胺或其他亲CO2基团偶联。
选择具有能够与接枝的聚合物链偶联的亲CO2基团的化合物以避免或显著减少相邻接枝聚合物链之间的交联,所述交联产生致密聚合物层。亲CO2基团的密度与具有亲CO2基团的化合物的分子量相关。由于减少的位阻效应,通过使用具有亲CO2基团的低分子量(即短链的C1-C10直链或支链分子)化合物来实现亲CO2基团的高密度。使用更短链的胺(C1-C3)例如乙二胺(DEA)、二乙三胺和三乙四胺给出了希望的刷状结构并阻止在相邻的接枝链之间的交联。
通过使用不同的溶剂、溶液粘度和干燥程序在透气性或多孔支撑物上涂覆(浸涂和超声喷涂)来制备聚合物膜,以获得没有缺陷的聚合物涂层,其厚度在0.1至10μm的范围内、优选地0.1至5μm的范围内或1至5μm的范围内。
可以使用三种不同的方法来制备膜:
1)通过在适合的支撑物上涂覆具有低CO2/(N2、CH4、O2、H2)选择性(都低于20)的高透气性聚合物来形成膜,所述聚合物例如:
·全氟聚合物(特氟龙AF2400、AF1600等)。
特氟龙AF2400:CO2渗透率在3900和2300巴勒之间。
·PTMSP(聚[1-(三甲基甲硅烷基)-1-丙炔])和PMP(聚(4-甲基-2-戊炔))。由于它们极少的堆叠聚合物链和玻璃质的结构,这些聚合物呈现出高度自由的体积,导致据报道最高的CO2渗透率;PMP:7000巴勒,PTMSP:25000巴勒。
·聚二甲基硅氧烷(PDMS),具有2500-4000巴勒的CO2渗透率的橡胶状聚合物
·聚乙烯醇,具有良好的薄膜形成和~200-1500巴勒的CO2渗透率的亲水性聚合物
2)通过多种方法(湿化学、UV接枝、界面聚合、等离子体接枝)用亲CO2活性官能团例如胺(伯胺、仲胺、叔胺)、酰胺、羟基对膜进行表面修饰,以提供气体选择性膜。
3)可以通过在支撑物上连续涂覆高度渗透性聚合物随后通过UV接枝用CO2活性基团表面修饰来形成超薄多层结构:涂覆-表面修饰-涂覆-表面修饰。可以形成致密堆叠有亲CO2基团的一个或几个连续薄层。
所述亲CO2基团会在与气体分子方向垂直的极其薄的CO2选择性层(纳米厚度)内以刷图案浓缩在所述膜的表面上。需要避免某些亲CO2分子,特别是长链、任选地支链的化合物(>C10),这些化合物可以彼此交联,导致非常致密的聚合物层,这样的聚合物层阻止了CO2分子与亲CO2基团的接触并因此减少了膜渗透率。
几个连续层可以在膜表面上在彼此的顶部添加。所述表面修饰可以被施加到面向进料气体的膜的顶部层和/或面向渗透物侧的膜的底部层两者。此外,在所述膜的“中间”的几层可以由连续的非选择性聚合物沉积-表面修饰,随后涂覆第二个非选择性层,随后表面修饰等形成。
可以使用多种透气性或多孔支撑物。它们可以由材料例如聚砜(PSF)、聚醚砜(PES)、聚酰胺(PA)、聚酰亚胺(PI)、聚二氟乙烯(PVDF)、聚丙烯腈(PAN)或乙酸纤维素(CA)制成。该支撑物层的厚度可以在10至250μm之间变化。优选地,所述多孔层的孔径是0.0001μm至1μm。
由具有高气体渗透率的透气性聚合物制成的致密层也可以被用作所述CO2选择性层之下的机械支撑物。该层也可以被下方的额外多孔层支撑,于是被称为沟层(gutterlayer)。这种致密层的厚度可以在约0.1至1μm(当使用额外多孔支撑物时)直至高达约200μm(没有多孔支撑物)之间变化。适合的高透气性聚合物的实例是聚二甲基硅氧烷(PDMS)、聚(1-三甲基甲硅烷基-1-丙炔)(PTMSP)、聚甲基戊烯(PMP)或无定形氟聚合物例如4,5-二氟-2,2-二(三氟甲基)-1,3-二氧杂环戊烯-共-四氟乙烯。
本发明的气体分离层还可以包含由涂覆在所述CO2选择性聚合物层顶部的高气体和水蒸气渗透率材料制成的保护层。适合用于保护层的材料是聚二甲基硅氧烷(PDMS)、聚(1-三甲基甲硅烷基-1-丙炔)(PTMSP)、聚甲基戊烯(PMP)或无定形氟聚合物例如聚[4,5-二氟-2,2-二(三氟甲基)-1,3-二氧杂环戊烯-共-四氟乙烯]。
所述CO2选择性聚合物层可以具有单层或多层结构。所述多层结构可以包含几个表面修饰的聚合物层以及用于保护所述表面修饰的聚合物层的一个或多个非选择性聚合物层。
在本发明中,通过UV接枝进行的修饰显示出极佳的结果。通过UV接枝表面修饰聚合物是一种通用的方法,所述方法在很大程度上不依赖于所述聚合物的化学组成。通过应用多种接枝技术和程序可以将多种新的官能团例如氨基引入到表面。UV接枝的优选策略是基于以两步骤进行的顺序UV接枝程序。关于特定的膜,聚二甲基硅氧烷(PDMS)和聚[1-(三甲基甲硅烷基)-1-丙炔](PTMSP)优选地通过UV接枝来修饰,但聚二甲基硅氧烷也可以通过水解来修饰。另外,聚乙烯醇可以进行化学修饰。为了表征膜结构会使用几种方法:SEM图、FT-IR、AFM。
膜的UV接枝是一种通用方法,其可以被用于,在聚合物缺乏可以用于通过化学偶联进一步修饰的官能团时,在聚合物膜上引入反应性基团或功能性层。对聚合物膜使用UV接枝的优点在于它的简单、干净和易于扩展。
聚合物例如PDMS和PTMSP不具有官能团。可以使用UV接枝技术在PDMS和PTMSP膜的表面上引入可以通过化学偶联进一步修饰的官能团。
实验
所有膜的表面修饰方法
顺序的三步骤方法被用于通过UV接枝修饰膜。测试了三种单体:甲基丙烯酸缩水甘油酯(GMA)、甲基丙烯酸氨基乙酯(AEMA)和二乙氨基丙烯酸乙酯(DEAEA)。在将聚GMA接枝到膜表面上以后,通过用乙二胺(EDA)偶联来引入胺基。
1.在膜表面上接枝引发剂
通过UV辐射在膜表面上接枝引发剂,在此情形中是二苯甲酮。随后去除多余的引发剂以阻止不想要的副反应。接枝点的密度取决于所述引发剂的浓度。
2.聚合步骤
添加单体并通过将被单体溶液覆盖的膜暴露于UV辐射来促进聚合。理想状态下所述聚合在膜表面上的接枝点中起始。聚合物的链长度取决于单体的浓度和UV暴露时间。所述两步骤方法的优点在于其减少了不希望的副反应。
聚甲基丙烯酸氨基乙酯和聚乙二胺修饰的膜通过步骤1和2来制备,而用甲基丙烯酸缩水甘油酯(GMA)修饰的膜需要额外的步骤来引入亲CO2基团。
3.亲CO2基团的引入
将聚甲基丙烯酸缩水甘油酯(GMA)修饰的膜进一步与聚乙烯亚胺(PEI)或乙二胺(EDA)反应以引入亲CO2基团:所述用GMA接枝的膜用以下进行涂覆:
·在pH9.3的硼酸缓冲液中的PEI
·在水中或pH9.3的硼酸缓冲液中的20-50%EDA
实施例和结果
实施例1.基于聚乙烯醇(PVA)的表面修饰膜
通过在具有50000MWCO的聚砜(PSF)的多孔支撑物上溶液浇铸来制备聚乙烯醇(PVA)膜。商用的在聚丙烯腈(PAN)支撑物上的PVA膜也用于用胺进行的表面修饰。根据上述的步骤1-3来修饰它们。在25℃和1.2至5bar的进料压下,用混合气体(完全增湿的N2中10%CO2)来进行测试,绝对压力和结果呈现于表1。
表1显示了参照物膜(没有表面修饰)和表面修饰膜的对比结果。

观测的CO2渗透率等于CO2渗透量与给定膜的膜厚度的乘积。1000巴勒代表对于1微米厚的膜2.7m3(STP)/(bar m2 h)的渗透量。
如上表可见,与参照物膜相比,用胺(EDA)进行表面修饰的膜的CO2/N2选择性提高了几倍。
实施例2.用胺基表面修饰的基于PDMS的膜
通过使用商用的在PAN支撑物上的PDMS获得所述结果,所述PDMS膜首先用甲基丙烯酸缩水甘油酯(GMA)修饰,随后根据如上所述的步骤1-3与20%的乙二胺(EDA)水溶液反应。所述结果,作为进料压函数的CO2渗透量和CO2/N2选择性分别显示于图4和图5。
与参照物膜相比,所述表面修饰减少了CO2渗透量,但由于接枝在表面上的胺基,使CO2/N2选择性增加了3-5倍。
实施例3.用胺基表面修饰的基于PTMSP的膜
通过从环己烷溶剂浇铸来制备独立的聚(1-三甲基甲硅烷基-1-丙炔)PTMSP膜。根据如上所述的方法步骤1-3修饰所述膜。结果呈现于表2。
表2:表面修饰的PTMSP膜的CO2渗透率/渗透量和CO2/N2选择性
观测的CO2渗透率等于CO2渗透量与给定膜的膜厚度的乘积。1000巴勒代表对于1微米厚的膜2.7m3(STP)/(bar m2 h)的渗透量。
与参照物膜相比,所有表面修饰方法或多或少地减少了CO2渗透量,然而,由于接枝在表面上的胺基,CO2/N2选择性变成了两倍。
实施例4.用胺基表面修饰的基于全氟膜(AF2400)的膜当使用了表面修饰方法以及通过UV辐射使用如上所述的方法步骤1-3和胺AEMA以及GMA+EDA表面修饰的全氟膜(AF2400)时,获得了杰出的结果。对于50μm的膜,在55℃下使用增湿的N2中10%的CO2,获得了1900巴勒(m3(STP)/(bar m2 h))的CO2渗透率和超过500的CO2/N2选择性。
图6和图7分别显示了CO2渗透量和CO2/N2选择性对于进料压的依赖性。清楚观察到,CO2渗透量减少,但实现了巨大的CO2/N2选择性,特别是对于用GMA+EDA修饰的膜来说。
图8和图9分别显示了对于用GMA+EDA修饰的AF2400膜,CO2渗透量和CO2/N2选择性的温度依赖性。从25至55℃(烟气温度),CO2渗透量增加且CO2/N2选择性轻微减少。这可能是由于CO2和N2两种气体的扩散系数都随温度增加。
对于CO2/N2分离,结果远远好于之前在文献中报道的最佳聚合物膜(Sanders,D.F.等,为了可持续的未来的节能的聚合物气体分离膜:综述(Energy-efficient polymericgas separation membranes for a sustainable future:A review),Polymer,2013年,第54卷第18期,第4729页至第4761页)。在图10中,用GMA+EDA修饰的AF2400膜在1.2bar进料压下的结果被绘制成并与文献数据比较。
实施例4.用于CO2/CH4分离(天然气)的用胺基表面修饰的基于全氟膜(AF2400)的膜
用在25℃下完全增湿的CH4中的10%CO2的混合气体(与天然气类似的条件)在2和5bar进料压下进行测试。用50μm厚的膜获得的结果示于下文表3。

Claims (15)
1.一种CO2选择性气体分离膜,其包含:
透气性或多孔支撑物层;和
至少一个用具有亲CO2基团的聚合物链进行表面修饰的透气性聚合物层,其中所述透气性聚合物层在其表面上具有亲CO2基团的空间受控分布。
2.根据权利要求1所述的气体分离膜,其中所述透气性聚合物层的修饰表面为具有亲CO2基团的聚合物链的刷状开口结构的形式。
3.根据权利要求1或2所述的气体分离膜,其中所述亲CO2基团是C1-C10直链或支链分子的官能团。
4.根据权利要求1至3任一项所述的气体分离膜,其中所述具有亲CO2基团的聚合物链被接枝在所述CO2渗透性聚合物层的表面上。
5.根据权利要求1至4任一项所述的气体分离膜,其中所述透气性聚合物是亲水性聚合物或水蒸气渗透性聚合物。
6.根据权利要求1至5任一项所述的气体分离膜,其中所述亲CO2基团选自胺、环氧乙烷、醚、酰胺或羟基。
7.根据权利要求6所述的气体分离膜,其中所述亲CO2基团是选自乙二胺(EDA)、二乙三胺和三乙四胺的胺。
8.根据前述权利要求任一项所述的气体分离膜,其中所述透气性聚合物优选地选自全氟聚合物例如聚[4,5-二氟-2,2-二(三氟甲基)-1,3-二氧杂环戊烯-共-四氟乙烯];PTMSP(聚[1-(三甲基甲硅烷基)-1-丙炔]);PMP(聚(4-甲基-2-戊炔));PDMS(聚二甲基硅氧烷)和PVA(聚乙烯醇)。
9.一种制备CO2选择性气体分离膜的方法,所述方法包含以下步骤:
在多孔或透气性支撑物层上沉积至少一个透气性聚合物层以形成致密膜,以及
用具有亲CO2基团的聚合物链对所述致密膜进行表面修饰以在其表面上获得亲CO2基团的空间受控分布。
10.根据权利要求9所述的方法,其中用具有亲CO2基团的聚合物链对所述致密膜进行表面修饰包括UV接枝。
11.根据权利要求10所述的方法,其中在第一步骤中,通过UV辐射将引发剂接枝到所述至少一个CO2渗透性聚合物层上以形成接枝点,并且在第二步骤中,将单体添加到所述接枝点并通过UV辐射进行聚合以形成接枝聚合物。
12.根据权利要求9或10所述的方法,其中所述单体包含亲CO2基团。
13.根据权利要求12所述的方法,所述方法包括其中通过将所述接枝聚合物与包含亲CO2基团的分子反应来引入亲CO2基团的第三步骤。
14.根据权利要求9至13任一项所述的方法,所述方法包含以下连续步骤:沉积聚合物层并用亲CO2基团修饰其表面以获得在所述聚合物层的顶部、中间和底部具有与所述CO2渗透性聚合物层连接的亲CO2基团的多层结构。
15.权利要求1至8的气体分离膜用于从气体混合物分离CO2的用途。
