背景技术
商人、专业人员和普通消费者日益增加在移动中接入通信的需求。寻呼系统用于通信已变得非常普及,寻呼系统使用户能够携带轻量的、具有良好广域与建筑物内穿透的低费用设备。过去,寻呼系统具有只能单向通信的缺点,但近来摩托罗拉公司已提出“Reflex”非对称双向寻呼系统,使用户能应答输入消息。非对称系统尤其有益于发送给寻呼机的数据量超过期望从寻呼机发回的数据量。非对称系统特别适于发回标识“存储的”应答(诸如“OK”或“现在我不能马上回答”)的短确认或标记。

无线电设备200能生成存储在消息存储器407中的许多预识别的消息。这些消息中的一些消息是命令。能发送的命令包括“OK”、“Finish”(完成)和“Move”(移动)。
在操作中,消息部分处理例行程序460发送对应无线电设备200的数据库430中帐号的收件箱(in-box)中所选的消息标题表给无线电设备200。这些标题是短的,仅给出消息的发送者(图3的字段310)、日期或时间(字段311)和主题(字段312)或一部分主题字段。由各个用户在数据库430中建立规则,定义用户希望在观看其收件箱时接收多少和什么形式的标题信息。例如,用户能建立提供仅示出最后10个消息的规则或他能建立提供仅示出最近24小时内接收的消息的规则。对于每个消息,对发送给无线电设备200的消息主体的文本量设置一个预定极限。
优选地,文本的最初几行是在收到观看命令时发送的所有内容。在这种方式中,网络202不被占用并且不会因为要发送e-mail消息的整个文本302而被滥用。同样地,设备200的存储器406(这是非常有限的)不被冗长的e-mail消息文本和附件拥塞。300个字符的限制是合适的限制。

总之,图5已描述了如何利用存储在无线电设备200的控制器405中的软件程序操作的四种模式。消息查看模式允许无线电设备200的用户查看来自e-mail服务器205的e-mail消息。消息馈送模式520指示服务器205开始从e-mail服务器发送用户消息给无线电设备200。消息代理模式530允许设备200的用户远程建立存储在数据库430中的并与用户的e-mail帐号有关的一组过滤参数或规则。这组规则或过滤参数定义用户希望远程查看的消息类型或消息的特定方面。这个特性从允许用户选择要显示在无线电设备200上的消息这一方面讲具有非常灵活的优点。这个特性在具有非常有限的屏幕尺寸与存储器容量的设备中是最有用的,这是因为所有消息不加选择显示到无线电设备上可能不必要地占用存储器和占用屏幕,使用户恼怒。
最后,用户喜好模式540允许用户在服务器205中将自己的标识与想要查看哪个特定e-mail帐号联系起来,而不管无线电设备200在公用无线电网络202中的地址如何。
参见图6,示出描述与主机服务器205有关的无线电设备200操作的流程图。发生在无线电设备200的步骤表示在左边,而发生在主机服务器205的步骤表示在右边。此图左与右侧之间的箭头代表在无线电设备与服务器之间交换的消息(包括命令消息)。图6用图解的方式表示了这样一个过程:开始从主机服务器到无线电设备消息的馈送、读出一部分消息和请求同一消息的更多部分。类似于图6的图的流程图容易由本领域技术人员生成来说明上面结合图5所述的无线电设备与服务器之间的其他操作和交互作用。
具体参见图6,流程通过在无线电设备200与主机服务器205之间建立虚拟对话开始。这个虚拟对话的建立在步骤650在无线电设备中进行并在步骤651在主机服务器中进行。在开始虚拟对话之后,并在启动屏幕上键502之后,生成开始馈送的命令。这个命令(馈送命令653)发送给服务器并在步骤655中在服务器上接收。收到此命令之后,服务器在步骤656中发送标题信息,并且在步骤657中此信息在无线电设备上接收。
在屏幕550中启动“查看”按钮551之后,选择消息(步骤658)并显示在无线电设备的显示器上。流程进到步骤675。在步骤675,如果用户要求此消息的更多部分,他按下屏幕上按钮564并且流程从步骤675进到步骤680,使命令681生成并发送给服务器以请求此消息的更多部分。这个命令在步骤682接收并且在步骤684中递增计数器以识别此消息下一部分。如果在步骤686中没有更多的消息要发送,即计数器已到达消息末尾,则在步骤688中可能发送差错命令,表示没有更多的消息进行发送并且过程在690结束。另一方面,如果步骤686识别有更多的消息要发送,流程进到步骤664,并且格式化出局寻呼消息以便传送消息主体的下一部分,而且程序继续。
上面的描述仅利用示例给出,并且细节的修改可由本领域技术人员进行,而不脱离本发明的精神与范畴。

Claims (8)

1、一种通信系统,包括:
第一服务器(205),具有电子邮件e-mail数据库,用于管理e-mail帐号、用于存储与那些帐号有关的无线电设备地址并且用于存储与那些帐号有关的电子邮件消息,其中每个消息具有标题(301)和文本(302);
网关(204),将第一服务器连到双向无线电网络(202,203);
无线电设备(200),具有电子消息传送应用,此无线电设备能通过双向无线电网络进行双向通信;
其特征在于:
该无线电设备包括:用于产生一消息的装置(405),用于通过该双向无线电网络将该消息传送给第一服务器的装置(401),用于保持一组信息过滤参数的装置(530),以及用于保持用户喜好的装置(540);
其中第一服务器包括消息处理软件(206),安排发送包括标题部分与文本部分的预定大小的一部分消息给无线电设备,该第一服务器还包括:用于在服务器收到寻址对应于给定的无线电设备地址的e-mail帐号的消息生成通知消息并通过双向无线电网络发送给具有该给定的无线电设备地址的无线电设备的装置(455)。
2、根据权利要求1的系统,其中无线电设备包括通过双向无线电网络发送命令给服务器以请求文本的另一部分的装置。
3、根据权利要求2的系统,其中第一服务器保持与e-mail帐号识别符有关的e-mail消息的数据库(430),并且无线电网络包括保持与寻呼机地址有关的寻呼消息数据库的第二服务器,而且其中第一服务器保持将e-mail帐号识别符与寻呼机地址相关的表(450)。
4、根据权利要求1的系统,其中无线电设备包括用于输入过滤参数并发送包括此过滤参数的消息给第一服务器的装置(590)。
5、根据权利要求4的系统,其中第一服务器保持用于根据从无线电设备接收的过滤参数选择要馈送给无线电设备的消息的过滤规则。
6、根据权利要求1的系统,其中无线电设备包括用于输入消息长度参数并发送包括此消息长度参数的消息给第一服务器的装置(590)。
7、根据权利要求6的系统,其中第一服务器保持消息部分处理例行程序(460),用于根据消息长度参数馈送长度截短的消息部分给无线电设备。
8、一种通信系统,包括:
专用服务器(205),一个或多个本地终端(431-433)利用有线连接可耦合到此专用服务器,此专用服务器具有电子邮件e-mail数据库(430),用于管理e-mail帐号、用于存储与那些帐号有关的无线电设备地址并且用于存储与那些帐号有关的电子邮件消息,其中每个消息具有标题(301)和文本(302);
网关(204),将专用服务器连到公用双向无线电网络(202);
无线电设备(200),具有电子消息传送应用,此无线电设备能通过公用双向无线电网络进行双向通信;
其特征在于:

(b)发送包括标题部分与文本部分的预定大小的一部分消息给无线电设备。
