Detailed Description
Fig. 1 shows a schematic view of a household appliance 100, for example a laundry care appliance in the form of a washing machine. The laundry care appliance comprises a rinsing housing 101, and into which a detergent or other laundry care substance can be injected. The laundry care appliance comprises an appliance door 103 for loading the laundry care appliance with laundry. The appliance door 103 closes an appliance opening 105 on the front side 107 of the laundry care appliance.
Furthermore, the laundry care appliance has a display element 109 for displaying the object. The display element 109 comprises a display screen, in particular an LCD display screen, an LED display screen or a TFT display screen.
Furthermore, the laundry care appliance has a sensor 111, in particular a radar sensor 111, which is designed to detect a hand movement of a user of the laundry care appliance in order to assist the user during the laundry care process and to provide the user with intuitive input means. A sensor 111, in particular a radar sensor 111, is arranged on the front side 107 of the laundry care appliance and is designed to emit radar radiation 112.
However, it may be necessary here (for example, depending on the signal resolution) to optimize the position of the sensor 111 or to use one or more further sensors 111. The signal effective range of the sensor 111 can likewise be increased by a material on the housing of the front side 107 which is transparent to radar waves, by a reflector or by a locally smaller wall thickness, for example in the operating panel. In order to achieve flexible or more complex situation-dependent operator inputs and operator outputs, the laundry care appliance has a display element 109, which is preferably designed as a large full-color display screen for displaying visual feedback.
The sensor 111 physically detects the hand movements of the user, wherein the control device is available locally in the laundry care appliance or is available as a cloud application distributed in the laundry care appliance in order to detect different operating and process processes from the signals by means of corresponding algorithms, for example, the insertion of laundry into a laundry drum of the laundry care appliance.
Software solutions for learning new gestures from initial programming are optionally available to the user, so that a system of learning may be provided.
There are a number of preferred variants of how gesture detection can be utilized to improve user interaction with the laundry care appliance. Specific applications include, for example, the possibility of replacing complex operating element functions by more intuitively, i.e. more simply and flexibly, trained control devices, the extension of gesture detection from the operating panel to the entire appliance, and the implementation of user treatments on or before the laundry care appliance.
Furthermore, the user processing includes learning options for new gestures, user identification and individual reaction of the user and identification of laundry movement and operation of the machine easily by people with disabilities. Further, additional functions include: contactless operation of the machine without damage due to contamination and/or accumulation of moisture on the operating panel; identification of the child or child's hand and locking of the appliance and identification of the geometry or contour of the laundry held in front for the purpose of identifying and selecting a suitable laundry care program; or the recognition and differentiation of geographic and/or country-specific gestures; and unlocking the laundry care appliance by the learned gesture; or detection of the surroundings of the machine for the purpose of evaluating the installation site or for identifying/characterizing the dewatering/vibration.
Fig. 2A to 2F show perspective views of a laundry care appliance with a radar sensor 111, which is designed to detect a hand movement 117 of a user.
In a laundry care appliance, a display element 109 with a graphical user interface 113 is used, on which or on which an object 115 is displayed, wherein the object 115 comprises operating elements typical for laundry care appliances. The object 115 shown in fig. 2A includes a rotatable knob 115-1. The object 115 shown in fig. 2B includes a sliding adjuster 115-2. The object 115 shown in fig. 2C or 2D includes a switch surface 115-3, and in particular, a key 115-3.
Here, the sensor 111, in particular the radar sensor 111, can detect a hand movement 117 of a user of the laundry care appliance. The control device is designed to change the object parameter of the respective object 115 in response to a detected hand movement 117 of the user, thereby providing the user with a visual feedback in which the object parameter of the object 115 on the display element 109 is changed.
Additionally, further acoustic feedback or optical signals (e.g. status lights, LED displays, etc.) by means of a signal unit are also possible. The sequential operating sequences may be displayed on the same interface of the display element 109 as, for example, a wash program selection, a wash temperature selection, or another option.
In the learning mode, the machine may also learn alternative gestures with respect to individuals, for example, for a disabled person without an index finger or a disabled person with only a left arm. In the so-called "Laundry care guide" mode, the radar sensor 111 can be switched on to recognize the user movement in order to assist the user in the entire course of the Laundry care process on the appliance (Laundry care course). For this purpose, user processes, such as opening/closing of a detergent drawer, filling of detergent, insertion or removal of laundry, opening or closing of a door, program selection and checking of faulty processes, are evaluated.
The machine can then provide corresponding user-relevant recommendations for the next step (e.g. filling or forgetting the detergent, laundry being too heavily packed in the drum in a half-load procedure, etc.), for example with respect to display, projection or voice output.
All user interactions with the laundry care appliance can be detected and evaluated with the radar sensor, by means of which radar sensor 111 the construction and costs for the operating panel can be significantly reduced. No individual components are required here, which ensures a simpler construction of the operating electronics or of complex operating components. Furthermore, gaps and gaps on the appliance, which could be reached by contaminants, can be avoided in the component design, whereby an easier cleaning of the smooth operating panel can be ensured.
The gesture control also has the advantage that the operating element is not functionally impaired by moisture, grease, detergents or other contaminants. In the same way, in a system that can be learned, incorrect operations, for example a sweeping motion on the switch surface instead of a finger tap, can be avoided, so that the user can retrain his own gestures at any time.
The learnable gesture control can be designed in software technology such that the user always has the possibility of controlling the appliance by means of gestures that can be performed explicitly by the user. For this purpose, the user interface must be equipped with a control device that can be easily learned. Temporary restrictions, for example the lifting of a full wash basket, no longer constitute an obstacle to the use of the machine. The user may set other body movements, for example to also open the door at a distance.
Preferably, the manufacturer provides a set of predefined meaningful gestures from which the user can select individually adapted gestures. Here, cultural differences in the manipulation process and possible control gestures may also and must be taken into account. The detection of gestures can also be used for user recognition by means of a corresponding learning algorithm. Thereby, a security function can be realized: only authorized personnel can operate the appliance, whereby effective child protection can be ensured.
The new door opening gesture may be designed such that the door opens allowing a responsive, more dexterous operation.
According to the embodiment in fig. 2A, the object 115 comprises a rotatable knob 115-1. The detected hand movement 117 of the user comprises a rotation 119-1 of the hand in a clockwise and/or counterclockwise direction, wherein the control device is designed to rotate a rotatable knob 115-1 on the display element 109 in response to the detected hand movement 117 of the user and to change an operating parameter of the household appliance 100, in particular to select a program from a plurality of different programs of the household appliance 100.
According to the embodiment in fig. 2B, the object 115 includes a sliding adjuster 115-2. The detected hand movement 117 of the user comprises a translational hand movement 119-2, wherein the control device is designed to move a sliding actuator 115-2 on the display element 109 in accordance with the detected hand movement 117 of the user and to change the operating temperature of the household appliance 100.
According to the embodiment in fig. 2C and 2D, the object 115 includes a switch plane 115-3. The detected hand movement 117 of the user comprises a translational hand movement 119-3, wherein the control device is designed to move the switch surface 115-3 on the display element 109 in accordance with the detected hand movement 117 of the user. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 2C, detected hand movement 117 includes movement of the thumb in a direction toward switch face 115-3. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 2D, the detected hand motion 117 includes movement of the index finger parallel to the direction of the switch face 115-3.
According to the exemplary embodiment in fig. 2E, the household appliance 100 is designed as a laundry care appliance with an electrically extendable wash-in housing 101, and the sensor 111 is designed to detect a further hand movement 117-2 of the user. The control device is designed to activate the electrically extendable drive-in housing 101 in response to the detection of a further hand movement 117-2 in order to extend the drive-in housing 101.
According to the embodiment in fig. 2F, the household appliance 100 comprises an appliance door 103 for closing an appliance opening 105 of the household appliance 100. The household appliance 100 has an electrically operated door opener 121 for opening the appliance door 103. The sensor 111 is designed to detect a further hand movement 117-2 of the user and the control means are designed to activate the electric door opening means 121 in response to the detected further hand movement 117-2 in order to open the appliance door 103.
Fig. 3 shows a method for controlling an operating parameter of a household appliance.
The method 200 comprises a first method step: a hand movement 117 of a user of the household appliance 100 is detected 201 by the sensor 111.
The method 200 comprises a second method step: the object characteristic of the object 115 displayed on the display element 109 is changed 203 in response to the detected hand movement 117 of the user 117.
The method 200 comprises a third method step: the operating parameters of the household appliance 100 are changed 205 in response to the detected hand movement 117 of the user.
