responding to the novel search request, matching and inquiring in a corresponding novel information base according to the keyword information to obtain one or more target novel information matched with the keyword information; if the quantity of the one or more target novel information is smaller than a preset result quantity threshold value, determining one or more pieces of recommended novel information according to user portrait information of the user in the reading application, adding at least one piece of recommended novel information to the one or more target novel information, and determining presentation information corresponding to the at least one piece of target novel information, wherein the user portrait information comprises information of payment behaviors performed by the user in the reading application, and the presentation information comprises discount of payment chapters of the target novel information and promotion information;

returning the one or more target novel information and corresponding presentation information to the user equipment;

receiving reading state information which is sent by the user equipment in response to an interactive operation of the user for viewing current target novel information and relates to the current target novel information, wherein the current target novel is contained in the one or more target novel, and the current target novel information is displayed on a reading interface of the reading application based on the interactive operation;
