图1图示出如本文中公开的作为具有流体循环的流体喷射装置的示例的喷墨打印系统的一个示例。喷墨打印系统100包括打印头组装件102、油墨供应组装件104、安装组装件106、介质传送组装件108、电子控制器110以及向喷墨打印系统100的各种电组件提供电力的至少一个电源112。打印头组装件102包括至少一个流体喷射组装件114(打印头114),其通过多个喷口或喷嘴116朝着打印介质118喷射墨滴从而在打印介质118上进行打印。
打印介质118可以是任何类型的适当的薄片或卷绕材料,诸如纸张、卡片纸、透明胶片、聚酯薄膜等。喷嘴116通常被布置成一个或多个列或阵列,使得油墨从喷嘴116的适当顺序的喷射促使字符、符号和/或其他图形或图像随着打印头组装件102和打印介质118相对于彼此移动而被打印在打印介质118上。
油墨供应组装件104向打印头组装件102供应流体油墨,并且在一个示例中包括用于储存油墨的储存器120,使得油墨从储存器120流到打印头组装件102。油墨供应组装件104和打印头组件102可以形成单向油墨输送系统或再循环油墨输送系统。在单向油墨输送系统中,供应给打印头组装件102的基本上所有油墨在打印期间被消耗。在再循环油墨输送系统中,供应给打印头组装件102的油墨的仅一部分在打印期间被消耗。在打印期间未被消耗的油墨返回到油墨供应组装件104。
在一个示例中,打印头组装件102和油墨供应组装件104被一起容纳在喷墨墨盒或笔中。在另一示例中,油墨供应组装件104与打印头组装件102分开并通过接口连接(诸如供应管)向打印头组装件102供应油墨。在任一示例中,油墨供应组装件104的储存器120可以被去除、替换和/或再填充。在打印头组装件102和油墨供应组装件104被一起容纳在喷墨墨盒中的情况下,储存器120包括位于墨盒内的本地储存器以及与墨盒分开定位的较大储存器。分开的较大储存器用于对本地储存器进行再填充。因此,分开的较大储存器和/或本地储存器可以被去除、替换和/或再填充。
安装组装件106将打印头组装件102相对于介质传送组装件108定位,并且介质传送组装件108将打印介质118相对于打印头组装件102定位。因此,打印区122被限定邻近于在打印头组装件102与打印介质118之间的区域中的喷嘴116。在一个示例中,打印头组装件102是扫描类型打印头组装件。同样地,安装组装件106包括用于使打印头组装件102相对于介质传送组装件108移动以扫描打印介质118的托架。在另一示例中,打印头组装件102是非扫描类型打印头组装件。同样地,安装组装件106将打印头组装件102固定在相对于介质传送组装件108的规定位置处。因此,介质传送组装件108将打印介质118相对于打印头组装件102定位。
电子控制器110通常包括处理器、固件、软件、包括易失性和非易失性存储器组件的一个或多个处理器组件以及用于与打印头组装件102、安装组装件106以及介质传送组装件108通信并控制它们的其他打印机电子装置。电子控制器110从主机系统(诸如计算机)接收数据124并将数据124临时地存储在存储器中。通常,沿着电子、红外、光学或其他信息传输路径将数据124发送到喷墨打印系统100。数据124表示例如要打印的文档和/或文件。同样地,数据124形成喷墨打印系统100的打印作业并包括一个或多个打印作业命令和/或命令参数。
在一个示例中,电子控制器110控制用于从喷嘴116喷射墨滴的打印头组装件102。因此,电子控制器110定义在打印介质118上形成字符、符号和/或其他图形或图像的被喷射的墨滴的图案。被喷射的墨滴的图案由打印作业命令和/或命令参数确定。
打印头组装件102包括一个或多个打印头114。在一个示例中,打印头组装件102是宽阵列或多头打印头组装件。在宽阵列组装件的一个实现中,打印头组装件102包括载体,所述载体承载多个打印头114,提供打印头114与电子控制器110之间的电连通,并且提供打印头14与油墨供应组装件104之间的流体连通。
在一个示例中,喷墨打印系统100是按需滴落热喷墨打印系统,其中打印头114是热喷墨(TIJ)打印头。热喷墨打印头在油墨室中实现热电阻器喷射元件以使油墨蒸发并产生迫使墨滴或其他液滴离开喷嘴116的气泡。在另一示例中,喷墨打印系统100是按需滴落压电喷墨打印系统,其中打印头114是压电喷墨(PIJ)打印头,其将压电材料致动器实现为喷射元件以产生迫使墨滴离开喷嘴116的压力脉冲。
在一个示例中,电子控制器110包括储存在控制器110的存储器中的流循环模块126。流循环模块126在电子控制器110(即,控制器110的处理器)上执行以控制一个或多个流体致动器的操作,所述一个或多个流体致动器被作为泵元件整合在打印头组装件102内以控制流体在打印头组装件102内的循环。
图2是图示出流体喷射装置200的一部分的一个示例的示意性平面图。流体喷射装置200包括流体喷射室202和在流体喷射室202内形成或提供的相应的液滴喷射元件204。流体喷射室202和液滴喷射元件204在基板206上形成,所述基板206具有在其中形成的流体(或油墨)馈送槽208,使得流体馈送槽208向流体喷射室202和液滴喷射元件204提供对流体(或油墨)的供应。例如,基板206可以由硅、玻璃或稳定聚合物形成。
在一个示例中,流体喷射室202在基板206上提供的阻挡层(未示出)中形成或由其限定,使得流体喷射室202在阻挡层中提供“势阱”。例如,阻挡层可以由光可成像环氧树脂(诸如SU8)形成。
在一个示例中,喷嘴或喷口层(未示出)在阻挡层上形成或延伸,使得在喷口层中形成的喷嘴开口或喷口212与相应的流体喷射室202连通。喷嘴开口或喷口212可以具有圆形、非圆形或其他形状。
液滴喷射元件204可以是能够通过相应的喷嘴开口或喷口212喷射液滴的任何装置。液滴喷射元件204的示例包括热电阻器或压电致动器。作为液滴喷射元件的示例,热电阻器通常在基板(基板206)的表面上形成,并且包括包含氧化层、金属层以及钝化层的薄膜堆,使得在被激活时,来自热电阻器的热使流体喷射室202中的流体蒸发,从而引起通过喷嘴开口或喷口212喷射液滴的气泡。作为液滴喷射元件的示例,压电致动器一般地包括在与流体喷射室202连通的可移动膜上提供的压电材料,使得在被激活时,该压电材料引起该膜相对于流体喷射室202的偏转,从而产生通过喷嘴开口或喷口212喷射液滴的压力脉冲。
如图2的示例中图示的那样,流体喷射装置200包括流体循环通道220和在流体循环通道220中形成的、在其内提供的或者与其连通的流体循环元件222。流体循环通道220对流体馈送槽208开放并在一端224处与其连通,并且在另一端226处与流体喷射室202连通,使得来自流体馈送槽208的流体基于由流体循环元件222诱导的流动而循环(或再循环)通过流体循环通道220和流体喷射室202。在一个示例中,流体循环通道220包括通道环路部分228,使得流体循环通道220中的流体通过通道环路部分228在流体馈送槽208与流体喷射室202之间循环(或再循环)。
如图2的示例中图示的那样,流体循环通道220与一个(即,单个)流体喷射室202连通。同样地,流体喷射装置200具有1∶1喷嘴与泵比,其中流体循环元件222被称为“泵”,其诱导通过流体循环通道220和流体喷射室202的流体流动。在1∶1比的情况下,针对每个流体喷射室202单独地提供循环。
在图2中图示的示例中,液滴喷射元件204和流体循环元件222都是热电阻器。热电阻器中的每个可以包括例如单个电阻器、分离电阻器、梳状电阻器或多个电阻器。然而,还可以使用多种其他装置来实现液滴喷射元件204和流体循环元件222,其包括例如压电致动器、静电(MEMS)膜、机械/冲击驱动膜、音圈、磁致伸缩驱动等。
图3是图示出流体喷射装置300的一部分的另一示例的示意性平面图。流体喷射装置300包括多个流体喷射室302和多个流体循环通道320。与上面描述的那样类似,流体喷射室302每个包括具有相应的喷嘴开口或喷口312的液滴喷射元件304,并且流体循环通道320每个包括流体循环元件322。
在图3中图示的示例中,流体循环通道320每个对流体馈送槽308开放并在一端324处与其连通,并且在另一端(例如,端326a、326b)处与多个流体喷射室302(即,不止一个流体喷射室)连通。在一个示例中,流体循环通道320包括多个通道环路部分,例如通道环路部分328a、328b,其每个与不同的流体喷射室302连通,使得来自流体馈送槽308的流体基于由相应的流体循环元件322诱导的流动而循环(或再循环)通过流体循环通道320(包括通道环路部分328a、328b)和关联的流体喷射室302。
如图3的示例中图示的那样,流体循环通道320每个与两个流体喷射室302连通。同样地,流体喷射装置300具有2∶1喷嘴与泵比,其中流体循环元件322被称为“泵”,其诱导通过相应的流体循环通道320和关联的流体喷射室302的流体流动。其他喷嘴与泵比(例如,3∶1、4∶1等)也是可能的。
图4是图示出流体喷射装置400的一部分的另一示例的示意性平面图。流体喷射装置400包括多个流体喷射室402和多个流体循环通道420。与上面描述的那样类似,流体喷射室402每个包括具有相应的喷嘴开口或喷口412的液滴喷射元件404,并且流体循环通道420每个包括流体循环元件422。
在图4中图示的示例中,流体循环通道420每个对流体馈送槽408开放并在一端424处与其连通,并且在另一端(例如,端426a、426b、426c……)处与多个流体喷射室402连通。在一个示例中,流体循环通道420包括多个通道环路部分428a、428b、428c……,其每个与流体喷射室402连通,使得来自流体馈送槽408的流体基于由相应的流体循环元件422诱导的流动而循环(或再循环)通过流体循环通道420(包括通道环路部分428a、428b、428c……)和关联的流体喷射室402。在图4中通过箭头430来表示这样的流动。
图5是图示出操作流体喷射装置的方法500的一个示例的流程图,所述流体喷射装置诸如如上面描述且在图2、3和4的示例中图示的流体喷射装置200、300和400。
在502处,方法500包括使流体循环通道(诸如流体循环通道220、320和420)与流体槽(诸如流体馈送槽208、308和408)和至少一个流体喷射室(诸如流体喷射室202、302和402)连通。流体循环通道(诸如流体循环通道220、320和420)具有与其连通的流体循环元件,诸如流体循环元件222、322以及422,并且流体喷射室(诸如流体喷射室202、302和402)具有在其中的液滴喷射元件,诸如液滴喷射元件204、304和404。

图6A和6B分别是操作流体喷射装置的示例时序图600A和600B的示意图,所述流体喷射装置诸如如上面描述且在图2、3和4的示例中图示的流体喷射装置200、300和400。更具体地,时序图600A和600B每个基于相应的流体循环元件(诸如流体循环元件222、322和422)的操作提供流体从流体槽(诸如流体馈送槽208、308和)通过流体循环通道(诸如流体循环通道220、320和420)和相应的流体喷射室(诸如流体喷射室202、302和402)的按需循环。
在图6A和6B中图示的示例中,时序图600A和600B包括表示流体喷射装置(诸如流体喷射装置200、300和400)的操作(或不操作)的时间的水平轴。在时序图600A和600B中,较高较细的垂直线610A和610B分别地表示液滴喷射元件(诸如液滴喷射元件204、304和404)的操作,并且较短较宽的垂直线620A和620B分别地表示流体循环元件(诸如流体循环元件222、322和422)的操作。液滴喷射元件(线610A、610B)的操作可以包括用于喷嘴加温和/或服务(servicing)的操作以及用于打印的操作。
在图6A和6B中图示的示例中,液滴喷射元件的操作(线610A、610B)的不同或分离时段之间的时间段分别地表示流体喷射装置的去盖时间630A和630B。因此,去盖时间630A和630B可以包括例如喷嘴加温/服务与打印之间的时间段(并且反之亦然)以及第一打印操作、序列或系列(例如,第一打印作业)与第二打印操作、序列或系列(例如,第二打印作业)之间的时间段。

在一个示例中,在液滴喷射元件的操作之前有延迟(Δt)的情况下提供时序图600A的按需循环。在一个示例中,延迟小于液滴喷射元件的操作频率。同样地,流体循环元件的操作(线620A)在液滴喷射元件的操作(线610A)之前的去盖时间630A的结束处提供通过流体循环通道的按需流体循环。
如时序图600B中图示的那样,在去盖时间630B期间按需提供流体循环元件的操作并且因此提供通过流体循环通道的流体循环。更具体地,在液滴喷射元件的操作(610B)之前的去盖时间的结束处提供流体循环元件的操作(线620B)。同样地,按需循环在液滴喷射元件的不操作时段期间是不活动的,这样的不活动时段在去盖时间630B期间。因此,在液滴喷射元件的不操作时段之后且在液滴喷射元件的随后操作之前提供流体循环。
在一个示例中,在液滴喷射元件的操作之前没有延迟的情况下提供时序图600B的按需循环。同样地,流体循环元件的操作(线620B)在紧接在液滴喷射元件的操作(线610B)之前的去盖时间630B的结束处提供通过流体循环通道的按需流体循环。
在时序图600A和600B的情况下,流体循环元件的操作(线620A)的集群或分组包括由流体循环元件的操作提供的多个循环脉冲(即,多个脉冲)。在一个示例中,再循环频率和/或脉冲数目是不固定的。相反地,再循环频率与打印频率异步,使得可以针对特定的打印系统优化按需循环的关联参数(例如,再循环频率和/或脉冲数目)。因此,对于按需循环而言,多个频率和/或多个脉冲计数是可能的。
另外,在时序图600A和600B的情况下,按需循环刚好在用于打印图像数据的液滴喷射元件的操作(线610B)之前发生。在该点上,控制器监视图像数据并基于空闲时间(例如,去盖时间限制被违反)和图像数据而发起按需循环,所述控制器例如流循环模块126(图1)。因此,仅根据需要提供按需循环。此外,在一个示例中,针对要用于打印图像数据的特定液滴喷射元件(或多个特定液滴喷射元件)提供按需循环。同样地,操作与要用于打印的(多个)液滴喷射元件相关联的(多个)特定流体循环元件。再次地,仅根据需要提供按需循环。
利用包括如本文中描述的循环的流体喷射装置,减少了油墨阻塞和/或堵塞。同样地,改善了去盖时间并且因此改善了喷嘴健康。另外,减少或消除了颜料-油墨媒介物分离和粘性堵塞物形成。此外,通过降低服务期间的油墨消耗(例如,使油墨的吐出最小化以保持喷嘴健康)来改善油墨效率。另外,包括如本文中描述的循环的流体喷射装置有助于通过在循环期间从喷射室排出气泡来管理气泡。
虽然在本文中图示并描述了特定示例,但本领域普通技术人员将领会,多种替代和/或等同实现可以在不脱离本公开的范围的情况下代替示出和描述的特定示例。本申请意图涵盖本文中讨论的特定示例的任何改编或变化。

Claims (15)

1.一种流体喷射装置,包括:
流体槽;
至少一个流体喷射室,其与流体槽连通;
液滴喷射元件,其在所述至少一个流体喷射室内;
流体循环通道,其与流体槽和所述至少一个流体喷射室连通;以及
流体循环元件,其与流体循环通道连通,
流体循环元件用以提供流体从流体槽通过流体循环通道和所述至少一个流体喷射室的按需循环。
2.权利要求1的流体喷射装置,其中在液滴喷射元件的操作之前提供流体循环元件的操作。
3.权利要求2的流体喷射装置,其中在液滴喷射元件的操作之前有延迟的情况下提供流体循环元件的操作。
4.权利要求3的流体喷射装置,其中延迟小于液滴喷射元件的操作频率。
5.权利要求2的流体喷射装置,其中在液滴喷射元件的操作之前没有延迟的情况下提供流体循环元件的操作。
6.权利要求2的流体喷射装置,其中在液滴喷射元件的操作之前的去盖时间的结束处提供流体循环元件的操作。
7.权利要求1的流体喷射装置,其中按需循环包括基于液滴喷射元件的操作的多个循环脉冲。
8.权利要求1的流体喷射装置,其中在液滴喷射元件的不操作时段之后且在液滴喷射元件的随后操作之前提供按需循环。
9.一种操作流体喷射装置的方法,包括:
使流体循环通道与流体槽和至少一个流体喷射室连通,流体循环通道具有与其连通的流体循环元件,并且所述至少一个流体喷射室具有在其中的液滴喷射元件;以及
通过流体循环元件的操作来提供流体从流体槽通过流体循环通道和所述至少一个流体喷射室的按需循环。
10.权利要求9的方法,其中提供按需循环包括在液滴喷射元件的操作之前提供按需循环。
11.权利要求10的方法,其中提供按需循环包括在按需循环与液滴喷射元件的操作之间提供延迟。
12.权利要求11的方法,其中延迟小于液滴喷射元件的操作频率。
13.权利要求10的方法,其中提供按需循环包括在按需循环与液滴喷射元件的操作之间没有延迟的情况下提供按需循环。
14.权利要求10的方法,其中提供按需循环包括在液滴喷射元件的操作之前的去盖时间的结束处提供按需循环。
15.权利要求9的方法,其中提供按需循环包括在液滴喷射元件的不操作时段之后且在液滴喷射元件的随后操作之前提供按需循环。
