Description

Segment combination for tobacco processing industry
Technical Field
The invention relates to a method for grouping combined segments, in particular filter segments, for producing rod-shaped articles of the tobacco processing industry.
Background
Document EP 1427299B 1 discloses an apparatus for grouping combined filter segments for producing multi-segment filters of the tobacco processing industry in a continuous process, wherein at least two different types of filter segments are provided for each multi-segment filter. In this case, the device can be divided into a plurality of individual functional units, each of which is designed as a module, wherein the filter segments can be transported in the individual functional units in a transverse axial direction. In this way, an efficient combination of groupings of filter segments is possible, which combination is additionally variable. In the combining method, filter segments are deposited in corresponding pockets of a conveyor, for example a transport drum or a conveyor belt, wherein filter segments are increasingly inserted into the pockets in the conveying direction.
A correspondingly improved design of the device is also known from EP 1393640B 1. In this case, a number of filter segments are first combined in order to then distribute the grouped filter segments by being arranged in stages on the respective conveying element and aligned one behind the other in the transverse axial conveying direction in order to be discharged from the transfer element into the rod from the transverse axial conveying direction to the longitudinal axial conveying direction.
Disclosure of Invention
The object of the invention is to enable secure and variable production of rod-shaped articles of the tobacco processing industry, wherein in particular an efficient and variable combination of the grouping of segments, preferably of segments, in particular filter segments, is to be achieved.
This object is achieved by a method for grouping segments, in particular filter segments, for producing rod-shaped articles of the tobacco processing industry, wherein segments of a first type are conveyed in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axes of the segments, wherein segments of the first type are arranged opposite one another in a transverse axial spacing which is larger than the diameter of the respective segments of the first type, wherein segments of a second type are arranged between segments of the first type, such that segments of the first type and segments of the second type are arranged in succession in an alternating manner in the transverse axial direction in an array, wherein segments of the first type and segments of the second type are conveyed in an array in a transverse axial direction, wherein in each case one segment of the third type is added longitudinally beside a segment of the first type and a segment of the second type.
According to the invention, a very variable combination of rod-shaped or cylindrical segments, in particular filter segments, is achieved for producing rod-shaped articles of the tobacco processing industry, in particular for producing multi-segment filters. In this case, at least three different segments can be inserted into the bar. Thereby, segments of the first type, segments of the third type, segments of the second type and, again, segments of the third type can be inserted alternately in the bar, and then the sequence of segments is repeated thereby. In this way, possible problems are avoided by excessively long groupings of segments, which may cause problems in the case of a transfer from the transverse axial conveying direction into the longitudinal axial conveying direction. In this way, a multi-segment filter can be manufactured, for example, very efficiently using three different segments.
Preferably, the segments of the second type and the segments of the fourth type are arranged between the segments of the first type. The segments of the second type and the segments of the fourth type can be inserted into the recesses between the segments of the first type, for example, in such a way that the longitudinal axes of the segments of the second type or of the fourth type are arranged next to one another. However, it is preferred that the segments of the second type and the segments of the fourth type are arranged or arranged at a distance from one another in the transverse axial direction. In this way, for example, a rod-shaped article with four different segments can be produced in a very simple manner. In a variant in which the segments of the second type and the segments of the fourth type are arranged or arranged at a distance from one another transversely to the axial direction, the spacing between the segments of the first type is selected correspondingly to be large. The spacing should then be larger than two diameters of the segments of the first type, for example. Accordingly, it is also possible to insert additional segments, for example segments of the fifth type, between the segments of the first type in the transverse axial direction. In this way, a very variable combination of segments for producing rod-shaped articles of the tobacco processing industry is generally provided.
Preferably, there are at least two different segments of the third type. In this way, the number of different segment types in the produced rod-shaped article can also be increased in a simple manner. For example, it is also possible to arrange the segments of the third type in an alternating sequence at a distance from one another in the transverse conveying direction, corresponding to the segments of the first and second type. The segments of different types (first, second, third, fourth, fifth and subsequent types) can have different lengths. Preferably, the diameters of the different types of segments are the same or substantially the same.
Preferably, the rod-shaped segments are conveyed in such a way that they are inserted into the cavities of a conveying element, in particular a conveying drum or a conveyor belt. In this way, a very precise and reliable combination of the segments, in particular of at least two segments or groups of segments, is possible.
Preferably, the segments of the first type and/or the segments of the second type and/or the segments of the fourth type have been arranged or are arranged aligned with each other in the transport direction. In this way, the grouping of segments can be transferred very precisely into the longitudinally axially conveyed rods.
Preferably, the segments of the third type abut with end sides to end sides of the segments of the first and/or second and/or fourth type. In this way, the grouping of segments can be transferred in the transport direction in the longitudinal direction in a very secure manner from the transport direction in the transverse direction.
Preferably, the segments are filter segments and/or tobacco rod segments. Preferably, the filter segments are or comprise soft and/or hard elements, wherein these are, in particular, hollow tubes, granule segments, fiber filter segments, tow filter segments and/or segments filled with a gum material (Kapseln). Here, the gum material can, for example, contain a fragrance and be crushed by the user at the time of use in order to release the fragrance.
Preferably, the segments of the first and second type are homogeneous. In this way, a very quick and very accurate combination of the grouping of filter segments can be set.
Furthermore, a method for producing rod-shaped articles of the tobacco processing industry is preferably provided, comprising: according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the combined segments are transferred from the transverse axial transport direction into the rods along the longitudinal axial transport direction, are coated with a strip of coating material in the longitudinal axial transport direction during the transport and are subsequently cut into rod-shaped articles.
In particular, a method for producing double-length triple filters in a transverse method or in a transverse axial transport is described, wherein the individual components or segments of the triple filters differ from one another. The segments are fed from three feeding devices, in particular filter feeding devices, to the combined rolls of the roll runs of the multi-segment filter manufacturing device. The filter segments of the first filter feeding device in the conveying direction are inserted into every other pocket of the combined reel, or a combined reel is provided, the pockets of which have a double pitch, for example eight pi. After the transfer of the first filter segments onto the combined log of the second filter feeding device, the filter segments of the second filter feeding device in the conveying direction or transport direction are inserted into the unoccupied pockets of the combined log of the second filter feeding device. The filter segments of the third filter feeding apparatus are then arranged (viewed in the conveying direction) beside the filter segments of the first and second filter feeding apparatuses, and in particular on the combined reel of the third filter feeding apparatus.
With the method according to the invention, multi-segment filters or rod-shaped articles with a plurality of segments, for example n-fold filters, can also be produced. The spacing of the cavities only has to be matched at the first combination reel and correspondingly at the next combination reel. Alternatively, the number of unoccupied pockets can be matched to the number of different filter elements. It is also expedient to adapt the section of the combined log in the filter feeding device. For a multi-segment filter making apparatus, the typical segment count is four π. The first two modules or filter feeders in the conveying direction or in the conveying direction then have, for example, eight pi segments. Here, it refers to a reel (which is arranged above the combined reel) having such a section of eight pi.
Double length filters can also be manufactured in this way when, for example, the first type of filter and the second type of filter are identical.
Further features of the invention will be apparent from the description of an embodiment according to the invention, taken in conjunction with the claims and the accompanying drawings. Individual features or combinations of features enable implementation of the embodiments according to the invention.
Drawings
The invention is described below without limiting the general inventive idea by means of embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein all aspects of the embodiments according to the invention that are not specifically explained herein are explicitly referred to. The figure is as follows:
fig. 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a method according to the invention, which method makes use of a device provided for this,
FIG. 2 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a rod-shaped article produced by the method according to the invention, and
fig. 3 is a schematic representation of a rod of the tobacco processing industry.
Detailed Description
In the figures, identical or similar elements and/or parts are provided with the same reference numerals, respectively, so that it is correspondingly apparent from the renewed description.
Fig. 1 schematically shows method steps and a device with which the method steps can be carried out. Fig. 1 shows a schematic top view of a corresponding multi-segment filter production device or multi-segment product production device of the tobacco processing industry in the lower region of fig. 1.
In the transverse conveying direction 19, a first module 21, then a second module 22 and then a third module 23 are arranged in succession there. The segments 11, 12, 13 are first arranged in the modules as will be explained further below, in order to then be combined. After the combination of the segments 11-13 into segment pairs 11, 13 and 12, 13, these segment pairs, which can also be referred to as groups of segments, are transferred into or to the rod machine 24, in which the rod is conveyed in the longitudinal axial conveying direction. In the rod machine 24, the strip of cladding material is wound around the rod 20 and the rod is cut in the respective cutting position 16'.
In the first module 21, which comprises a filter segment supply device, the eight-fold used-length filter rods are first taken out of the magazine and cut in the middle, so that two resulting filter rods of four-fold used-length are subsequently cut in the middle, in each case as double-use-length filter rods. The resulting double used length of four filter rods (as shown in fig. 1) are staged and then arranged in alignment in the transverse axial conveying direction for output to the conveying element on which the double used length filter rods are arranged at a pitch a. In the second module 22 (which can also be embodied as a filter tip feeding device), in principle the same is carried out first as in the first module 21, i.e. eight filter tips of the used length are cut into a total of four filter rods of twice the used length, in order then to arrange these filter rods in stages and aligned in the conveying direction. The exact same is also performed in the third module 23 itself.
The filter rods 11 of twice the used length are transferred from the first module 21 to the transfer element of the second module 22. Segments or filter rods of the second type are inserted between segments or filter rods of the first type on a reel, which can be, for example, a combined reel, in which each second module is occupied by a filter rod of the first type 11. The insertion preferably takes place in a transverse transport direction 19. This alternating arrangement of the first and second types of segments or filter rods of twice the used length is then transferred into the third module 23 and the filter rods or segments of the third type 13 are placed there in the cavities of the respective combination drum against the filter rods of the first and second types 11 or 12, so that the end sides 30, 31 are opposite.
After the groups of segments 11-13 have been combined in each case, these groups are transferred in the longitudinal axial conveying direction into the rods 20, so that the filter rods 11, 13, 12, 13, 11, 13, etc. alternate in each case. The rod 20 is conveyed in the longitudinal axial conveying direction 18, is coated with a coating material, not shown, and in particular, as is known in the art, and is cut off by a knife at the cutting position 16'. Hereby a double used length multi-segment filter is created comprising halved segments of the first type 15 straight towards each end, segments of the third type adjacent to these halved segments 15 of the first type and segments of the second type in the middle.
In a further process, such multi-segment filters or multi-segment filters can be inserted between two tobacco rods wrapped with a paper liner and then cutting of segments of the first type 11 can be performed in order to manufacture respective filter cigarettes.
The respective segments of the first, second or third type can also already comprise tobacco rods, for example. In this way, filter cigarettes, for example cigarettes in which the tobacco is no longer burning but is only heated, can already be produced.
Fig. 2 shows a rod-shaped article 10 produced by the method according to the invention, in a schematic manner, and in particular in a schematic sectional view. Directly towards the ends, respective halved segments 15 of the first type are provided. Such articles can be either conventional filter elements or tobacco rods. It is directly internally connected with segments of the third type 13, and in particular on both sides. Here, it can refer to a hollow segment or a hollow tube. In the middle, then, segments of a first type, for example filter segments formed from filter tow (Filtertow), are provided. In the middle of the segments of the first type 11, a cutting point 16 is identified, by means of which a corresponding cut can be made in order to produce single-length articles from double-length articles of the tobacco processing industry. In addition, fig. 2 also shows the longitudinal axis 17 of the rod-shaped article 10.
Fig. 3 schematically shows a part of a bar 20, which is transported longitudinally in the transport direction 18. An example is shown here, where four different segments are placed into a bar. The way this is done can be for example: the segments of the first type, the segments of the second type and the segments of the fourth type are first arranged or combined alternately one after the other in longitudinal axial alignment in the transverse axial conveying direction, in order then to each segment (which is to be combined) in each case in such a way that one segment of the third type 13 is arranged next to the other in the longitudinal axial direction. After transfer into the bar 20, the sequence as shown in fig. 3 is then obtained, i.e. segments of the first type 11, segments of the third type 13, segments of the second type 12, segments of the third type 13, segments of the fourth type 14 and segments of the third type. Various other variations can be used or employed.
All the mentioned features, as well as those which can be seen alone in the drawings and the individual features which are disclosed in connection with the other features, are considered as essential aspects of the invention, alone and in combination. Embodiments according to the invention can be satisfied by individual features or by combinations of features. Within the framework of the invention, the use of features characterized "especially" or "preferably" is considered as optional features.
