Abstract
选择呼叫接收机的用以将软件驱动程序选出并装入外部计算机的装置包括一个与外部计算机连接的数据接口和一个含有多个执行软件驱动程序的经过预编程数据存贮器,一个处理器与存贮器和数据接口相连控制其交互作用。数据接口响应从外部计算机接收的带有标识符的信号。处理器访问存贮器,按标识符识别出来的外部计算机找到相兼容的软件驱动程序的位置,并把这个软件驱动程序向外部计算机发去。
Description
本发明涉及选择呼叫接收机,具体地涉及具有与外部计算机通信的数据接口的选择呼叫接收机。
“射频调制解调器”,即具有与外部计算机通信的数据接口的选择呼叫接收机,在现有技术中是众所周知的。由(美国)伊利诺斯州的舒姆伯格(Schaumburg,Illinois)的摩托罗拉(Motorola)公司制造的“新闻流先进数据接收机”(News StreamTM Advanced DataReceiver)就是一个例子。该射频调制解调器往往与计算机一起使用,该计算机具有RS-232端口和一个通信程序,以支持流行的文件传送协议(称为“XMODEM”)。传统的射频调制器解调器的数据接口与这样的计算机耦合,使该计算机能够接收由无线发送且寻址到该射频解调器的信息,并将接收到的这些信息存储在一个文件中。当一个用户希望检验或处理文件中的信息时,还需附加的文件访问或其它软件,其内容可参阅1991年12月17日公布的Holmes等人的美国专利5,073,767,该专利公开了一种选择呼叫接收机。
虽然传统的射频调制器解调器具有很好的接收便携式计算机信息方法,但多数便携式计算机可用的应用软件箱很少超出显示所接收到的信息的范围,此外也许还能根据射频调制器解调接收来的信息查出姓名或电话号码。虽然提供按不同用户需要定制以供各种垂直业服务用的应用软件可以买得到,但步骤很慢。
开发用于传统射频调制解调器的垂直应用软件的障碍是缺乏一个兼容的、高级应用接口,能够在外部计算机从一个牌子变到另一个牌子和射频调制解调器从一种型号变到另一种型号时都保持不变。缺乏兼容性是由于传统的射频制调制解调器需要这个应用程序提供各种低级驱动程序,而这些低级驱动程序对每种类型的外部计算机又是各不相同的。为了适应射频调制器设计中后来的变化,例如,射频调制解调器和外部计算机之间从串联数据连接变为并联数据连接,或者为了增加新功能而修改射频调制解调器中的低级专有命令,这些低级驱动程序也必须要变。
为此,需要有一种方法能在应用软件与射频调制解调器之间提供一种兼容的接口,以便开发新的更强的应用软件以支持各种垂直业务。需要有一种射频调制解调器,它能扩展应用软件与射频调制解调器之间的功能,以及提供一个从一种外部计算机到另一种外部计算机相兼容的应用编程接口。还需要有一种射频调制解调器它带有为支持多种用户需求而定制的内装应用程序。
根据本发明,这里提供一种选择呼叫接收机,其中包括:一个接收机,用于接收含有信息的射频(RF)信号并解调该RF信号,以获得该信息;一个解码器,与接收机相耦连,用于解码所述的接收信息,并从其中获得报文消息;一个处理器,与解码器相耦连,用于接收该报文消息并对此作出响应而产生一个报警信号;一个报警装置,与处理器相耦连,用于响应所述的报警信号而产生一个可听的或能触觉的报警;和一个数据接口,与一个外部计算机相耦连,用于向该外部计算机发送出所述的接收的报文消息;其特征在于:一个存储器,与所述的数据接口和所述的处理器相耦连,用于使所述的外部计算机能够对所述的存储器进行访问;其中所述的存储器含有预编程的数据,所述的预编程的数据包括多个可执行的软件驱动程序,所述的多个可执行的软件驱动程序中的每个用来对至少一种特定类型的外部计算机进行编程,以便与所述的数据接口相通信,一个计算机识别单元,与所述的数据接口相耦连,用于响应所述的外部计算机对所述的数据接口提供的信号来识别所述的多种特定类型外部计算机中的一种;以及一个驱动器选择单元,与所述的计算机识别单元相耦连,用于从与所述的多种特定类型外部计算机所识别出的一个相兼容的多个可执行软件驱动程序中选择出其中之一个。
图1是根据本发明优选实施例的射频调制解调器方框图。

图3是根据本发明的优选实施例安装在一个外部计算机中的调制解调器的正交投影顶视图。
图4是根据本发明的优选实施例,从射频调制解调器至外部计算机选出并装入一个软件驱动程序以及使用一个应用程序的方法流程图。
参看图1,根据本发明的优选实施例的射频调制解调器100的方框图包括有一个用于截获RF信号的天线102。天线102接到用于接收和解调截获的RF信号的接收机104上。解码器106与用于解码已解调的信息的接收机104相耦合。微处理器108从解码器106接收已解码的信息并对该信息进行处理复原成报文消息。微处理器108与用于存储已复原报文消息的易失性存储器110相耦合,微处理器108控制报文消息的存储和调用。报警发生器112与微处理器108相耦合用以在微处理器已有要显示的报文消息时向用户提供可听的或能触觉的报警。
输出装置114包括有一个直观显示器或扬声器或二者兼有,输出装置114也受微处理器108控制。控制部分116包括有一些用户可以操作的控制器,用户可用以指挥微处理器108去执行本专业人员熟知的可选择呼叫接收机的一些操作,控制开关一般还包括诸如开/关控制按键,功能控制等。
微处理器108与非易失性存储器122和数据接口118相耦合,用于根据本发明对非易失性存储器122和数据接口118进行控制和通信。非易失性存储器122和数据接口118相互连接起来,使得非易失性存储器122数据接口118之间可以直接通信。数据接口118的构成和受控方式,符合个人计算机存储卡国际联合会(Per-sonal Computer Memory Card International Association)(PCMCIA)在1991年9月出版的在标题为“PC卡标准”(PCCard Standard)发行本2.0和“插座业务接口规格”(SocketServices Interfance Specification)发行本1.01这两个文件中所公布的标准。这两个文件在下文中一起被称为“PCMCIA标准”。数据接口118用一条PCMCIA总线120与诸如外部计算机等外部设备相连接。
非易失性存储器122是用多个软件驱动程序124预编程过的,每个软件驱动程序由一个标识别符126进行识别,识别一个外部计算机与软件驱动程序124是否兼容。非易失性存储器122至少也要用一个应用程序128预编程过。软件驱动程序124的功能是用以补偿各种不同的外部计算机之间的差别,使得每个应用程序128与外部计算机之间的接口在装入一个兼容的软件驱动程序124时是一个可行的接口。即,单个应用程序128可以与有着一个兼容的软件驱动程序124的任何外部计算机一起正确地运行。
微处理器108包括有一个计算机识别单元109,用于根据外部计算要供给数据接口118的标识符信号,识别出外部计算机多种特定类型中的一种。微处理器108还包括一个驱动选择单元111,用于从多个软件驱动器程序124中选出一个来,它与从多种特定类型外部计算机里识别出来的、其标识符信号与标识符126里对应的一个是相符合的。
参看图2和3,即根据本发明优选实施例的射频调制解调器100的立体图和安装在外部计算机302里的调制解调器100的正交投影顶视图,表示一个在射频调制解调器100的一端带有PCMCIA总线120的连接器,当射频调制解调制器100插入外部计算机302中的一个PCMCIA槽304时,如图3所示,射频调制解调器100和外部计算机302就由PCMCIA总线120电气连接起来了,使得射频调制解调器100和外部计算要302之间能进行通信。
参看图4,根据本发明的优选实施例从射频调制解调器100到外部计算机302(图3)选出并装入软件驱动程序124(图1)中的一个以及使用一个应用程序的方法的流程图,从执行把射频调制调器100与外部计算机302连接起来的步骤402开始。在步骤402之后,在步骤404,按照PCMCIA标准进行一次数据交换,该数据交换包括微处理器108(图1)从外部计算机302接收一个标识符信号。步骤406,响应接收的标识符信号,微处理器108访问非易失性存储器122(图1),找到与从外部计算要302接收来的标识符信号相符的一个标识符126的位置。
在步骤408里,微处理器108(图1)检查确定是否已找到一个相符的标识符,从而指出有一个兼容的软件驱动程序124(图1)存在。如果微处理器108未找到相符的,则在步骤401微处理器108使报警发生器112(图1)发生报警,以向用户指出射频调制解调器100与外部计算机302(图3)不兼容,此后在步骤416过程结束。
另一方面,如果微处理器108(图1)在步骤408确定已找到一个相符的标识符126(图1),则在步骤412微处理器108访问非易失性存储器122(图1),读出对应的软件驱动程序124(图1),然后将其通过数据接口118(图1)及PCMCIA部线120发送到外部计算机302(图3)(或者微处理器108也可发送供对应软件驱动程序124用的一些位置矢量,则外部计算机可直接通过数据接口118和PCMCIA总线120装入软件驱动程序124,而无需微处理器108的更多帮助。)
当一个兼容的软件驱动程序124已被装入外部计算机302(图3)时,微处理器108(图1)进一步与外部计算机302通信,并在步骤414将一些访问指令存入外部计算机302,以便外部计算机302访问并执行一个选定的应用程序128(图1),此后微处理器108在步骤416干预结束。
在此要注意软件驱动程序124(图1)的作用是为应用程序128(图1)提供一个相兼容的接口。该相兼容接口使得应用程序128中的每一个都能够与在射频调制解调器100中有着一个软件驱动程序124(图1)的所有类型外部计算机302(图3)兼容地运行。这意味着应用程序128不必作任何变更就可使应用程序128与不同的外部计算机302一起运行。相同的描述也适用于外部计算机302本身所驻留的应用程序,即,一旦为与射频调制解调器100的软件驱动程序124中的一个兼容的一种类型外部计算机302开发出了一个应用程序,则同一应用程序也能与射频调制解调器100的软件驱动程序124中的一个兼容的其它类型外部计算机302一起正确地运行。其结果是极大地减少了为使射频调制解调器100能与很多类型外部计算机302兼容而建立应用支持所需要的工作量。
由于软件驱动程序124(图1)是射频调制解调器100的一部分,所以在将来修改射频调制解调器100的同时,例如射频调制解调器100增加新功能时软件驱程序124也会得到修改。这种对软件驱动程序124将来所作的修改是在“对射频调制解调器100内部的应用程序128和对射频调制解调器100供外部使用可能已经开发出来的任何其它应用程序保持相兼容和接口不变”的条件下实现的。应用程序接口保持相兼容和不变,使得应用程序和射频调制解调器之间的功能性加强,这是因为射频调制解调器内部的诸如实时时钟设定命令、报文消息存储位置、报文消息标记、使用的微处理器类型等内部特性的改变都不会影响与应用程序的接口。结果,通过应用程序就能够对射频调制解调器100的内部功能进行更多的控制,而不要冒将来射频调制解调器需要重新设计时跟着应用软件需要做大量修改的危险。
当然要有为响应接收来自射频调制解调器的已解码信息而执行操作的应用程序,例如当一收到已解码信息就将其显示出来的应用程序。然而,通过射频调制解调器100的内部功能的应用程序的更强控制会有利地使得应用程序能够执行各种操作来响应不同于接收一个页面的各种激励,例如检索射频调制解解调器100的存储器110(图1)找到某一类已接收到信息的检索程序,而这种检索是根据用户由诸如键盘打入的命令起动的。
另外,能够建立起单一的应用程序,运行在多种外部计算机302(图3)上而不需要作很多年来那样的大修改,所省下来的钱就可用来开发定制的应用程序,例如,就可以开发一个专门的为不动产市场定制的应用程序,可对由射频调制解调器100接收到的多种多样的列表信息进行键控检索。
为此,本发明包括一种在应用软件和射频调制解调器之间提供相兼容接口的方法,以便开发垂直业务用的更强的新应用软件。本发明使得应用软件和射频调制解调器之间的功能得以扩展而应用软件将来需要修改的危险性最小。本发明也提供了一种从一个外部计算机到另一个外部计算机相兼容的应用编程接口。而且,本发明包括了一种带有内设应用程序的射频调制解调器,该应用程序可以是定制的以支持各种用户要求,因此只要使射频调制解调器与外部计算机一连接起来,便可即时有效地全面合格地运行。
Claims (5)
1.一种选择呼叫接收机(100),包括:
一个接收机(104),用于接收含有信息的射频(RF)信号并解调该RF信号,以获得该信息;
一个解码器(106),与接收机(104)相耦连,用于解码所述的接收信息,并从其中获得报文消息;
一个处理器(108),与解码器(106)相耦连,用于接收该报文消息并对此作出响应而产生一个报警信号;
一个报警装置(112),与处理器(108)相耦连,用于响应所述的报警信号而产生一个可听的或能触觉的报警;和
一个数据接口(118),与一个外部计算机(302)相耦连,用于向该外部计算机(302)发送出所述的接收的报文消息;
其特征在于:
一个存储器(122),与所述的数据接口(118)和所述的处理器(108)相耦连,用于使所述的外部计算机(302)能够对所述的存储器(122)进行访问;
其中所述的存储器(122)含有预编程的数据,所述的预编程的数据包括多个可执行的软件驱动程序(124),所述的多个可执行的软件驱动程序(124)中的每个用来对至少一种特定类型的外部计算机(302)进行编程,以便与所述的数据接口(118)相通信,
一个计算机识别单元(109),与所述的数据接口(118)相耦连,用于响应所述的外部计算机(302)对所述的数据接口(118)提供的信号来识别所述的多种特定类型外部计算机(302)中的一种;以及
一个驱动器选择单元(111),与所述的计算机识别单元(109)相耦连,用于从与所述的多种特定类型外部计算机(302)所识别出的一个相兼容的多个可执行软件驱动程序(124)中选择出其中之一个。
2.根据权利要求1所述的选择呼叫接收机(100),其特征在于,所述的预编程的数据还包括一个单一的、不变的、高级应用编程接口(118、124、126),它与具有所述的多个软件驱动程序(124)中相应的一个软件驱动器程序的所有特定类型外部计算机(302)相兼容。
3.根据权利要求1所述的选择呼叫接收机(100),其特征在于,所述的预编程的数据还包括至少一个应用程序(128),该应用程序(128)包括可执行代码,其中,至少一个个应用程序是响应接收到来自选择呼叫接收机(100)的已解码信息而对外部计算机(302)编程,以便执行操作。
4.根据权利要求1所述的选择呼叫接收机(100),其特征在于,所述的数据接口(118)包括一个PCMCIA型接口。
5.根据权利要求1所述的选择呼叫接收机(100),其特征在于,所述的预编程的数据还包括至少一个应用程序(128),该应用程序(128)包括可执行代码,其中所述的至少一个应用程序用于对所述的外部计算机(302)编程,以便执行为具有类似信息处理要求所制定的操作。
