Description
技术领域
本发明涉及一种低成本饮用水净化系统和一种饮用水不再适于饮用时向使用者报警的传感器。这种低成本水净化系统具有能使有益物质或有益分子被加入水中的附加功能。
背景技术
水净化系统可包括很多不同的用于去除水中杂质的各种机械装置的零部件。现有的一种水净化系统通常是指终端净水机(point-of-use)(POU)水净化系统。这样的终端净水机是由去除相对少量的水中杂质的零部件构成的,例如面向居室或桌上使用的系统相比于像市政水处理设备这样的大型中心设备。
终端净水机系统一般是面向高端市场的,例如,能接受高价钱的终端净水机系统的市场。由于缺少低成本情况下的创造性设计,终端净水机系统还没有有效的打入广阔的低端市场。
典型的终端净水机系统具有用于去除沉积物的预过滤材料,然后是能去除病原体和有时是无机材料的机械装置。包含像过滤材料这样易损件的终端净水机系统的一个最重要方面是能在所述过滤材料到了更换时间时向使用者或服务人员发出警告或提示的“终点”检测系统。绝大多数的终端净水机系统是使用基于时间的系统,即经过一段时间后,用亮灯(或其他方式的指示装置)告知是时间更换过滤器了。这种相对低成本的传感器是不够好的。如果所述水净化系统在不同环境条件下使用,为了避免被污染而更换过滤介质所需的时间间隔长度会有很大的变化,因此受污染的水就有可能经过所述水净化系统。
测定水中成分(和安全性)的主要方法是定期取水样,然后将这些水样送到实验室,在实验室有相对大型的设备用来分析水中的成分。所提供的信息反馈给使用者或服务人员,告知水中的成分。另外,现场还有成套的测试像氯这样的特别污染物的设备。总的来讲,这些标准化的测试方法中没有哪一种是通用化的或能适用到终端净水机系统上的。同样地,也没有哪一种测试方法是普通消费者可以使用的。
现有的终端净水机水净化系统不向水中添加有益成分。发现用于糖果糕点业或餐饮业的典型系统会将分子或化合物加入水中。例如像苏打水喷泉是将用于调味的分子和化合物通过简单的混合液体流加入到苏打水中,而不是加入对消费者健康有益的成分。
现需要一种用于净化水和/或向水中添加有益成分的改进的系统出现。而本发明迎合并满足了这一需求。
发明内容
一方面提供一种水净化系统,包括至少两种过滤介质,该过滤介质的相对量能使第一污染物首先饱和,并且使第二污染物的饱和具有一个滞后。另一方面提供一种净化水的方法,包括:使水通过一个系统,该系统包括至少两种过滤介质,所述过滤介质的相对量能使水中的第一污染物首先饱和,并且使第二污染物的饱和具有一个滞后。
本系统的一个重要方面是将该系统的使用者作为病原体或其他危险物质的终点检测装置。该系统的这一方面最终使水的净化成本降低,净化水更安全。本发明的系统通过使用者的视觉和嗅觉将使用者作为检测装置。当水的过滤材料到达或将要到达寿命终点时,水净化系统中的机械装置就释放出颜色。另外,所述系统还具有向水中释放不同味道的能力,用以提醒使用者过滤材料已经达到寿命终点。再有就是既然以低成本的方式引入这些检测机械装置,则相同的机械装置也可用来将所需的分子或化合物加入净化水,因此可产生健康饮料和/或治疗性饮品。

具体实施方式
参照附图,图1是本发明第一实施例低成本砷净化系统的示意图。系统2包括用于盛放所要净化水的储水器4,该储水器通过阀8连接到过滤器区域10,该过滤器区域具有一系列的修复介质(remediation medias)12,14,16。水经过所述过滤区域10,流经阀20由喷嘴18排入接收容器22。
预过滤材料12的设计目的为能消除水中大的颗粒和沉淀。紧接所述预过滤材料12设置有一系列的过滤介质,所述过滤介质被设计为能从水中去除特定的原子、分子或化合物,和/或被用来在所述介质中污染物饱和时和所述介质丧失净化水的功能时(例如,本发明显示水将很快不安全时)将颜色或味道加入水中。特别在图1所示的实施例中,紧接所述预过滤材料12设置的是除味介质14和除砷介质16。
也可使用相似的机械装置将其他有益化合物加入水中。有益化合物可为,例如:维生素、氨基酸、矿物质和/或中草药提取物。一些实例包括维生素A、维生素C、维生素D、维生素E、维生素K、维生素B6、维生素B12、硫胺素(thiamin)、核黄素、烟酸(niacin)、叶酸(folic acid)、维生素H(biotin)、泛酸(pantothenic acid)、钙、铁、磷、碘、镁、锌、硒、铜、锰、铬、鉬、钾、硼、镍、硅、锡、钒、黄体素和番茄红素(lycopene)。
本发明的所述系统主要用于处理经氯消过毒的水。如上面所指出,其中一种修复介质(remediation medias)14是用于去除不良味道,并且另一种介质16可被用来除砷。
不同地理区域的水会有所不同,因此,需要对介质的类型、数量或其比率作适当的调整以干净地去除污染物。所述过滤系统为每一种介质设计了合适的空床接触时间(EBCT)以使目标污染物能被清除干净。典型的空床接触时间顺序为1到10分钟,这可通过过滤介质过滤材料的体积来确定水的流速。
所述净化系统可在上面描述过的修复介质(未示出)之后包括另外的过滤阶段。例如,去除细小纤维的过滤器(例如纤维绕线滤芯)和/或去除微生物污染的过滤器可在所述修复介质阶段后施行。一般造成水有味道这种问题的原因是由于藻类的代谢物,例如像土腥素(geosmin)或2-甲基异莰醇(MIB)(2methylisoborneol),其会在水中产生霉味或土的味道。例如,可参见由Bottani和Tascon主编的《炭的吸附》(Adsorption by Carbon)第26章。虽然本系统中对介质的顺序要求并不严格,但在图1所示出的实施例中,除味介质14紧接着位于预过滤介质12之后,除砷介质16之前。
在其他的实施例中,所述介质可为混合的、间隔的或堆叠的。另外,虽然有其他的介质能同时实现上述的两个任务,但是活性炭被特别选为除味介质14,而颗粒状氢氧化铁、活性氧化铝、颗粒状氧化铁、钛氧化物、氧化锆、其他金属氧化物或金属氧化物混合物中的一种或多种被选为除砷介质16。
本发明所述系统的设计成本很低有两个基本的原因。第一,所述系统是针对关于水的两个基本问题,即有毒砷的浓度和不良味道。第二,终点检测的方法为基于时间的检测,更重要的,或是基于味道的检测。所述系统能利用使用者对味道的感受作为终点检测的机械装置,其是通过确定除味介质和除砷介质的体积以使除味介质在除砷介质饱和前就饱和的方式来实现的。当这些介质的体积如前描述的被确定时,水首先通过除味介质,并具有了不良的霉味或土味,在一段时间后,所述水才被砷污染。
图2中的图表为效果示意图。对介质体积的确定可达到此功能效果,以此,使用者可作为传感器,因为使用者是感觉到水中的土味或霉味时才意识到要更换介质的,下面介绍这一系列的完成步骤。
首先,检测本地的水来确定释放味道的化合物的情况和水中含砷的情况,所述释放味道的化合物如土腥素或MIB。其次,测试除味介质和除砷介质以确定一定体积的介质对土腥素和/或MIB或砷的饱和需要多长时间。完成第二步后,确定系统中介质的体积以达到在图2中所示出的效果。
例如,一种两组分终端净水机过滤材料用活性炭增强味道及用颗粒状氧化铁(GFO)除砷。通过合适的确定介质的体积,味道的增强可相当于早期报警系统的功能,其能提醒使用者更换过滤器材料。相关参数是所述介质对目标污染物的吸附能力,通常以每克介质吸附多少毫克的污染物来计量。根据活性炭的结构(含碳源材料,孔径分布和表面积)和水中的化学成分,活性炭对MIB的吸附能力的范围为1到3毫克/克(mg/g)。(例如,参见由Bottani和Tascon主编的《炭的吸附》(Adsorption by Carbon)第26章,第683页(2008))。相似地,根据水中的化学成分,GFO对砷(V)的吸附能力范围为0.5到1毫克/克(mg/g)。(参见《除砷的吸附处理技术》第6章,AWWA出版,(2005))(Reference,Adsorption Treatment Technologiesfor Arsenic Removal,AWWA publishing,Chapter 6,(2005))。
适合的活性炭可以从卡尔冈碳素公司(Calgon Carbon Corporation)获得(http://www.calgoncarbon.com/solutions/?view=ChallengeProducts&Industry=10&Application=7&Challenge=7)。相类似地,GFO可以从Severnt TrentCorporation获得(http://severntrentservices.com/Water___Wastewater_Treatment/Arsenic_Removal_prod_52.aspx)。
例如,在输入水中,假设MIB和砷(V)的浓度均为0.05毫克/升(mg/L),并且进一步假设其各自去除介质对污染物的吸附能力均为1毫克/升(mg/L)。GFO和AC(活性炭)均没有对于其他污染物明显的吸附能力。因此,要把过滤材料设计为MIB要先于砷穿过GFO穿过活性炭,这需要GFP与活性炭的比值大于1。合适的比值可为2:1,即GFO的质量比活性炭的质量。这样的比值将使不良气味在使用者发现含砷的水平提高前就通知使用者更换过滤材料。当然,所有介质的质量(或相应过滤材料的体积)应根据预测量的水的流量和过滤材料的寿命合适地进行确定。如果土腥素或MIB的浓度不够大,以致不足以突然饱和,或水中不含有另一种释放味道的化合物,那上面所描述的方法就不能用做终点检测传感器。
如果有一种恒定释放味道的化合物被加入到所述的终端净水机系统,本发明有一个与图1所示的设计相似的设计,其中土腥素或MIB的除味介质被一种能去除有关味道的化合物所代替。所述的味道物质或味道化合物可以定时释放胶囊的形式被加入到终端净水机系统中。
图3示出一种与图1所示系统相似的系统,其中在所述除味介质下游的区域24包含有加入恒定释放味道物质的胶囊。这些定时释放胶囊能以一个恒定的速率释放味道物质,所述味道物质被下游的介质吸收从而使所述介质在恰当的时间饱和(参见图3),。在前一种情况下(持续的),定时释放胶囊(见图4)被设计为随时间释放均匀剂量的气味。
在本发明的水净化系统中使用的创新性的定时释放胶囊除了释放味道也可以用于释放颜色,或仅释放颜色。例如,以上描述的两种用于气味释放的方法均可用于颜色释放。在第一种情况下,恒定速率释放的定时胶囊可被用于释放颜色,所述颜色被过滤系统中的一种介质吸收,并且使颜色化合物在介质中达到饱和的状态仅发生在净化介质中需要去除的不良原子、分子或化合物达到饱和之前。因此,当需要更换净化介质时水会改变颜色。该系统中也设置了一段时间的滞后,以使即使在水变了颜色的情况下在滞后时间段内也是安全的。所述的滞后是根据了解所述定时释放胶囊所释放颜色化合物的浓度的饱和度和应被去除的不良原子、分子或化合物的饱和情况来确定的。
这里所描述的定时释放胶囊也可用来向水中添加所需的原子、分子或化合物。前面所描述的恒定速率的定时胶囊可用于上述的添加操作。所述胶囊装入介质,或单独的设置于所述水净化系统的最后阶段(以不使其他介质去除掉所需要的有益原子、分子或化合物)。这些胶囊可释放气味和像维生素这样的治疗性物质。
本发明的关键方面是为了选择最合适、最低成本的介质而确定对当地水的情况进行仔细的评估,所述介质用于产生适于家庭用量饮用水的最优除砷且具有足够长寿命的终端净水机。例如,在一个特别的位置,当选用最合适的除砷介质时,需要主要考虑测试确定氯含量、砷的化合价和PH值。同样地,基于水的特性和所需介质寿命及过滤水的质量来调整过滤系统中介质的比率。中和氯需要活性炭(AC),而除砷需要金属氧化物介质,例如GFO。在上面的实例中,选择GFO介质的原因是在当地水具有高PH值的情况下,相比于像活性氧化铝这样的其他金属氧化物介质,GFO介质具有优异的除砷(As(V))特性。(参见《除砷的吸附处理技术》第6章,AWWA出版,(2005))(Reference,Adsorption Treatment Technologies for ArsenicRemoval,AWWA publishing,Chapter 6,(2005))。
为了尽可能地减少管道的连接和降低零部件的安装成本,所述介质被拼合在一个单独的标准过滤材料盒中。估计550克的GFO(1.1干升(dryliters))对于当地水的情况达到过滤材料设计寿命为7,000升(liters)应可提供足够的除砷能力。在终端净水机装置中总的过滤材料的体积可固定为标准的130cc滤芯的体积。经测定,所述滤芯包括1.1L的GFO和1.1L的AC,对于本例的情况,体积介质比率为1:1时工作效果最好。
紧接上述程序,一旦评估了当地水的特性,无需过度实验就可调整介质的比率。所述介质形成两个不同的层,并且水先流过AC,在流过GFO。图5和图6示出利用AC/GFO的组合在过滤材料的寿命时间内对查帕拉(Chapala)水的除砷结果。在测试期间砷的浓度保持在0.01mg/L以下。另外,在处理的水中检测不到氯,所以当地居民会感觉到水的味道不错。根据当地水的质量因素、POU过滤材料的体积和设计工作寿命,可以根据需要调整GFO与AC的比率。对于POU装置中的少量过滤材料,预计除砷介质GFO与活性炭的合适比率为1:1,即GFO的体积比AC的体积为1:1,或者再大些,如2:1。根据本地水的情况、除砷介质的能力和不同介质的密度应该对这些体积进行调整。也可以根据需要将另外的介质加入滤芯用以去除部件3,4或其他介质组件中其他的水中污染物。如同以上实例中的单独的介质可以分开(例如分层)或混合设置。
虽然结合当前被认为最实用和最优选的实施例对本发明做了描述,但其不应理解为所披露的实施例是对本发明的限制,相反地,而应理解为其不同的更改和等同的变化均为所附权利要求精神的涵盖范围之内。

1.一种水净化系统,包括至少两种过滤介质,该过滤介质的相对量能使水中过滤第一污染物的过滤介质首先饱和,并且使过滤第二污染物的过滤介质的饱和具有一个滞后,
其中,被净化的水具有释放味道的化合物,该化合物为所述第一污染物。

6.根据权利要求1所述的水净化系统,其特征在于:当第一污染物是氯时第一过滤介质为活性炭,当第二污染物是砷时第二过滤介质为活性氧化铝、颗粒状三价铁氧化物和/或颗粒状三价铁氢氧化物。
7.一种水净化系统,包括:至少两种过滤介质,该过滤介质的相对量能使水中过滤第一污染物的过滤介质首先饱和,并且使过滤第二污染物的过滤介质的饱和具有一个滞后;并且定时释放胶囊释放的气味能显示所述过滤介质的终点检测,
其中,所述定时释放胶囊以一个恒定的速率释放味道物质,该味道物质为所述第一污染物。
8.根据权利要求7所述的水净化系统,其特征在于:所述定时释放胶囊的释放具有持续性。
9.根据权利要求8所述的水净化系统,其特征在于:所述持续性胶囊位于过滤第一污染物的过滤介质的上游,过滤第一污染物的过滤介质会在一些点饱和,并能使味道进入水中。
10.一种水净化系统,包括:至少两种过滤介质,该过滤介质的相对量能使水中过滤第一污染物的过滤介质首先饱和,并且使过滤第二污染物的过滤介质的饱和具有一个滞后;颜色定时释放胶囊利用颜色标示所述过滤介质的终点检测,
其中,所述颜色定时释放胶囊能以一个恒定的速率释放颜色物质,该颜色物质为所述第一污染物。
11.根据权利要求10所述的水净化系统,其特征在于:所述颜色定时释放胶囊具有持续性。
12.根据权利要求11所述的水净化系统,其特征在于:所述持续性胶囊位于过滤第一污染物的过滤介质的上游,过滤第一污染物的过滤介质会在一些点饱和,并能使颜色进入水中。
13.一种水净化系统,包括:至少两种过滤介质和定时释放胶囊,所述过滤介质的相对量能使水中过滤第一污染物的过滤介质首先饱和,并且使过滤第二污染物的过滤介质的饱和具有一个滞后;并且所述定时释放胶囊持续地将气味或治疗性物质引入水中,
其中,被净化的水具有释放味道的化合物,该化合物为所述第一污染物。
14.根据权利要求13所述的水净化系统,其特征在于:所述定时释放胶囊所处位置在所述系统的最后阶段能将气味引入水中。
15.一种净化水的方法,包括:使水通过一个系统,该系统包括至少两种过滤介质,所述过滤介质的相对量能使水中过滤第一污染物的过滤介质首先饱和,并且使过滤第二污染物的过滤介质的饱和具有一个滞后,
其中,被净化的水具有释放味道的化合物,该化合物为所述第一污染物。
16.根据权利要求15所述的方法,其特征在于:通过对水的检测来确定释放味道的化合物的情况和水中所含砷的情况;通过测试所述过滤介质来确定一定体积的介质中释放味道的化合物和砷的饱和所需的时间;并且在所述系统中确定所述介质的体积,使其能使过滤水中释放味道的化合物的过滤介质首先饱和,并使过滤所述砷的过滤介质的饱和具有一个滞后。
